Platinum Working On Max Anarchy, An “Online Action Game”

After the single-player extravaganzas Bayonetta and Vanquish , it seems Platinum Games wants to pull a complete 180.

Those titles from 2010 didn't even offer a multiplayer option but their next project, as confirmed by Andriasang (citing Famitsu), will be "an online action combat game with support for large numbers of players." In development for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Max Anarchy will offer the first online battling from the talented development team and although we don't have any screens just yet, players will be able to wield everything from chainsaws to torches during battle. Furthermore, Jack from Madworld on the Nintendo Wii will be a playable character. Famitsu had a long interview with Platinum's Atsushi Inaba, so we can probably expect an official unveiling some time soon; we'll be looking for some combat info and maybe even a debut teaser to tide us over. For now, all we know is that Max Anarchy should be released by Sega some time later this year.

We have difficulty getting all pumped for "online combat" games but when it comes to Platinum, we're more than willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. …it could be downright awesome.

Sounds like another storyless mess by Platinum. Probably a downloadable too.

I don't like the sound of this. I'm not really an online gamer. I like my single player and platinum has provided those experiences. I really hope they do a Vanquish sequel at some point.

Maybe this is a sign that madworld will come to the ps3. This game also sounds good maybe its something like madworld but online.

Maybe the PS3 version will have Madworld bundled in? We know Sega loves the PS3.

You know what I hate… when people say 360 when they mean 180. So glad you got it right.

I haven't yet purchased a Platinum studios game, though I must applaud them for constantly doing something different from what they did last, and still managing to get consistently good review scores for it. MadWorld is arguably the best M-Rated Wii game, filled with gore and all sorts of twisted stuff; Bayonetta is a hyper-fast action game in the vein of DMC with a ton of sex appeal; Vanquish is a hyper-fast shooter, with a focus on fun and now this.

Anyway… It sounds cool, but not for me.
Peace.

I'll agree with you on the point that it is good that they aren't afraid to try all kinds of new directions. I like that. I just hope one day one of those directions is great instead of good.

MadWorld was black and white, how the devil is this guy gonna fit? I guess they could colorize him.

Nah, he'll be the model of monochromatic madness. Just for something different.

Why in the world would they think including Jack would be worth their while? Some sad attempt at hard core game on the Wii deserves to have a character ported to the PS3 and 360 in a multiplayer only game?

If I was Sega I'd shut that idea down right quick.

no thanks.
every game these guys have made has been meh at best, and every game sega has made this gen has been exactly the same!
madworld is by far the best game they have made, and that was seriously repetitive!

First of all Mr. no-name, it's not just Valkyria Chronicles which of course is a great game. Sega also made Yakuza 3 and Yakuza 4 this generation. Yakuza 3 is also a great game in spite of any flaws it has and I'm sure Yakuza 4 is going to be the same if not better.

Next, I don't know why the hell you are suddenly bringing Sega into this at all. For your information Sega did not make Alpha Protocol. They just published it.

And finally if what Oxvial says is true then you don't even seem to be making all that much sense. So do everyone here a favor, quite possibly including yourself, and just piss off troll.

Ahh… So much hating. Bayonetta's fighting system was uber deep and totally made up for it's short comings. Vanquish was non stop action all the way through. Never played Madworld so i can't comment on that. This should be another fresh idea from Platinum Games that will probably be pretty fantastic.

I Loved Vanquish, bayonetta even though they weren't great games and always wanted to get madworld but never got the chance to play it.Maybe i will go back and try to buy it to see who this jack character from madworld is ,that is going to be in max anarchy. So consider me very intrigue by the continued development of this game.
