We knew the trailer would drop today, and the recent May 17 rumor was pretty darn close.
Anyway, here's the second official preview trailer for Team Bondi's L.A. Noire . Set to release on May 20, this crime drama has a ton of potential; it's clearly designed for those who desire a strong storyline, emotional moments, and intriguing characters. Utilizing the oft-discussed MotionScan technology that lets us read a character's facial reactions and sporting real-life crimes ripped from the 1940s, this game could be engrossing to the max.
What do you think? The voice acting seems great and there's obviously a heavy emphasis on story and plot development. We're still not sure about the gameplay; any great story needs a stable and reliable gameplay mechanic, because this is an interactive entertainment venue. If the whole thing comes together, L.A. Noire could be a truly satisfying experience.

Music sounded kinda llike Heavy Rain in the beginning….
Knew I wasn't the only one who thought that
makes three with me
Judging by the trailers, I think this will turn out to be a fantastic game and R* stills has time to make everything even better.
I get the impression that the Rockstar fans are already starting to get all riled up over this one. But I wonder if any of them are aware that Rockstar isn't actually making the game but just publishing it?
Anyway. It does seem rather Heavy Rain-esque, which is not all that surprising as both games draw inspiration from film noir. Although it is too bad there was no ARI back then. These cops have their work cut out for them.

Your average gamer isn't going to know that. They pretty much know that the Rockstar logo makes it a good game and they will buy it. A lot like we used to know "Squaresoft" always meant it was a good game 🙂
Again not gameplay…and yes R* isn't doing this.
Ben I think this what you were talking about when you wrote that article, a long time ago, about combining Heavy rain and red dead redemption.
No gameplay…but real-time footage. Well hey the real-time footage was great and all…I mean check out the technology these days creating all these emotions on the character's face and such.
I wonder about the gameplay however. It looks like it would be an ok movie if this were a trailer for a movie.
I would love to see some actual gameplay footage. Mafia II looked very good in the trailers that weren't gameplay but I just didn't like the game that much. Hopefully this one will turn out to be better.
This is beginning to look like a copy cat of Heavy Rain. Many victims die, the killer leaves behind something, in this game he leaves a message in blood, in Heavy Rain the killer leaves behind a piece of origami, and the killer sends a letter in L.A. Noire as well.
I'm not complaining, Heavy Rain is my favorite game ever, but I was hoping L.A. Noire would be more original.
Well, it's as I indicated before. Both games draw inspiration from the same source: Film Noir. So similarities are to be expected.
I expect you will find enough significant differences. For instance, the plot of Heavy Rain was very contained and played out like scenes from a movie that were edited together in a somewhat linear fashion.
Noire will probably play out more like a typical game that follows a main character and will have more breathing room to choose when to do certain things, when to go off on a tangential mission (random robberies) and how to approach investigations.
We all know that the comparison to Heavy Rain will be there. But this will be different in it's own way. Sure we haven't seen gameplay yet. But in the gaming world today, we are almost guaranteed to get a demo before the actual game.
Gameplay footage only gets us "hype" for the game. It doesn't really determine if the game will be good or not. We've all seen the games that had awesome gameplay trailers but turn out to be a crap game. Be patient fellas we'll get a demo most likely and can determine the gameplay then..
Out of curiousity, is the weekly poll question on the home page paid for by sponsors. I mean, do the developers/publishers pay this site to ask the poll questions? Seems like the weekly questions could be so much more.
Can't wait for this puppy. The tech really is amazing, but am I the only one that thinks it flirts with the uncanny valley a little? The superanimated faces on the characters is gonna take some getting used to.
I'm sure we'll get gameplay close to the release date.
I find the use of this new facial scan technology to be used incredibly well here. I think the constant delays for a product this polished and this incredible are well worth it.
I'm hoping to see more trailers, because the more I see of this game, the more impressed I become.
I'm also very glad to see a launch date that's much closer than first expected. May has turned out to be a great month for games.
Noire, is the female form while Noir is the male. Looks like L.A. is a lady not to be trifled with 🙂
Jeeez, I know the story and tech will be great but goddamn I need some gameplay footage.
And now the guns come out. Man…
Looking better every time I see it. I know I'm picking it up regardless of what happens, but I hope it pulls down some impressive review scores and garners the kind of following that Heavy Rain has succeeded in doing.
Peace.
I SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WANT THIS!
NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
just one question.
why is it that every time a game is made in a certain country, said country always gets it first, but when its being made where i live were the last to get it?
sigh, looks like ill have too sneak into TB and "borrow" a copy.
Okay so i need to add this to list…
wow im soooo skint after another year of damn good games…
oh and side note; does anyone else notice that one of the guys (the guy who says the last thing on this vid) looks and sounds very much a like to joseph sullivan on heroes. (samuel's brother season 4)
