GLaDOS Gets Chattier In Portal 2

Dialogue is often a key part of video games these days, but you might not have expected it to be a major element in the upcoming Portal 2 .

The AI computer in the original, GLaDOS, had some funny things to say, but she didn't have quite this much to say. According to Tech Spotlight , the upcoming anticipated sequel will sport a ridiculous 13,000 lines of dialogue…and it's all jammed into a relatively short adventure/puzzle game with a protagonist who doesn't speak. Obviously, the number includes NPCs and what not (and separate dialogue for the co-op campaign) but even so, 13,000 lines is a lot and provided they're decent lines, we should appreciate the upgrade. It's too bad that Valve had to push back the original launch date from February 9 to mid-April but then again, we've got a ton of great titles hitting the shelves in the first few months of 2011 and in all honesty, we could use a delay or two. Besides, we're willing to wait for a few more GLaDOS gems, especially if they enhance the overall atmosphere.

If you haven't played the first Portal , we recommend it if you're in the mood for something a little different. Don't be fazed by screenshots; it's not a sci-fi FPS .
