Might one of the most popular and recognizable Rally circuits return to Gran Turismo ?
Pikes Peak hasn't been in a GT installment since GT2 and it certainly isn't in the recently released GT5. And yet, according to an official post at the Red Bull Blog , Rally racer Rhys Millen talks about the best way to tackle the legendary course in Gran Turismo 5 . …what? This could be a huge error or it could be an unofficial unveiling and you know, we might be leaning towards the latter: as noted by members in the GTPlanet forums, replies to the editorial asking for clarification were quickly deleted. Now, the Red Bull Blog also published an exclusive GT5 video last year, which unveiled the bad-ass X2010, the Lexus LF-A, and the El Capitan track. That track didn't make it into the game, either, so maybe an update including both El Capitan and Pikes Peak is in the works. GT creator Kazunori Yamauchi has spoken at length about continued support for GT5 so perhaps we're getting a glimpse of future updates… Cross your fingers!
We'll have to wait until Yamauchi and/or Sony speaks up on the matter but for now, they're remaining mute on the subject.
I hope so!
sounds interesting hope its free 🙂
I never cared for El Capitan, but i'd love Pike's Peak.
Dude El Capitan was the shit! Want that track back so bad!
Idk, i just didnt like it much. I'm all for adding it (far be it from me to complain about too many tracks 😀 ), but i wont race on it much.
DLC held back eh?
Oh Millen, you put your foot in your mouth that time. Yamauchi probably yelled at him over the phone for hours.
I'd love me some Pikes Peak racing.
Pikes Peak would be sweet, but I loved El Capitan, if they bring both of those back via DLC or an update, I will be a very happy person.
Same here, really liked the rally version of El Capitan, really amazing track.
And Pikes Peak's just legendary.
This would be awesome! more tracks are always welcome. Now… wheres the news on the Standard car being updated, or at least with cockpit views.
Another problem I have is their are only two view options in 2p battle, which is the bumper and 3rd person. I want cockpit views in these mode as well, yes that might be hard on a smaller TV but give us the option, at least a roof cam.
and while you guys at PD are giving us updates on the Standard car How about some hood cams while we wait.
Loving GT5, just missing a wheel. Here I come Buy.com
I don't think that they will ever incorporate dashcams in 2P mode. Same with the weather effects. I just don't think the PS3 is capable of rendering all of that twice… Then again, isn't that what it does for 3D? Unless it's because it can't render it four times… Oh, I'm giving myself a headache. Not a techie.
Peace.
Pikes Peak is still hands down one of the best racing tracks on Earth.
GT2 did an amazing job with that track, hope it's back.
Also…Red Rock Valley!
Colorado just rocks hard! Isn't Red rock valley in Colorado?
If they remade that track for GT5 I think I'll play the game non-stop all weekends lol.
Even if it's not the same track layout, as long as it's based on the Red Rock valley again.
I loved El capitan, and Pike's peak was awesome! I really hope some DLC will be coming out for this game.
LoL. All i remember when i hear pikes peak is going 512 mph on test course and your front starts to fly up <3. Suzuki pikes peak version car in gt3 i think,
Yep, you could get a number of cars to lift their nose if you pumped up the power and adjusted the wings/suspension appropriately. I always thought that was a testament to the accuracy of the physics.
You know that makes me curious. In previous GTs, rollover wasn't supported, so in GT3, the car would be almost vertically up going at insane speeds when you tune the aeros and suspension to the appropriate settings. In real-life, the car would probably go in the air and flip or something. Now that GT5 does support vehicle turnover, I might just try it out.
Can't set the front wing, although if you raise the front and lower the back, it should have much the same effect…LOL! I'd love to know how you get on.
such a thing happened in reality Mercedes CLR-GT1 car because there was a real air turbulence resulting from the car in front of it , just check this video

Has anybody else had any problems starting the game up? It's worked fine for me for a while, now all of a sudden it gives me "can't connect to server" errors every time. I have to keep disconnecting the internet to even play the game now. Even deleted and re-installed the game data but that didn't work either.
Try turning off your media server if it's on, if that doesn't work try clearing your cache in the games options under network.
Nope. Didn't work 🙁
Will this DLC be free?
Q!
"play.experience.enjoy"
PD have promised that any new update or addition to the game will be free ,
I hope so
Pike's Peak is in Colorado…. yeah I can't have an opinion on this but I still like to post 🙂
Ooh… More tracks? I thought PD already denied that they'd be adding tracks. Either way, it'd be an awesome way to shut up those people who say that Forza has more. GT5 is going to be a completely different game by the end of the year.
And did PD not fill up a dual layer Blu-ray disc creating this game? I think Sony had better get the quad-layers cracking before GT6 is ready to drop, or it'll be DLC gonzo.
Peace.
Kaz never denied it. He just said that it's too soon to decide at the moment on what he's planning to do. All we got from him is that it's possible, but that definitely doesn't mean that it will, nor a good chance of it happening. Like he said, it's too soon to tell.
Cool, thanks for the clarification on that Daus.
I believe GT5 only took up one side of a blue-ray disc? (MGS4 takes up both sides.)
It just seems more and more likely as the day passes on that PD was really cut short on time by Sony and the fans. It's not that I'm complaining though. The game is great as is.
There are so many good tracks missing from GT4 and GT2. Hope to see them all in GT6 at least, if not GT5.
Read this on GTPlanet a week or so ago. Red Bull seems to have a inside scoop on some the stuff GT related, so I tend to believe what I am reading.
Free or not, I will be getting every single piece of DLC out there.
Same here. Worth it with this game.
It's kind of like Burnout Paradise. The game has so much already, it almost seems wrong to get more content for free.
