EA Hits Ignition Switch On Burnout Bandslam

It's a worldwide search for the best sounds on the planet, and it's all for the sake of a totally kickin' racing franchise.

EA is teaming up with the impressive trilogy of MySpace, Virgin Records, and Epiphone to organize an international "Battle of the Bands," where one winner from the U.S. and Europe will land a demo recording contract. But this isn't just any demo soundtrack; this one entitles your band to feature placement in the massively popular Burnout franchise (presumably, the next-gen installment). The competition is dubbed "Burnout Bandslam" and began on February 6 on Bandslam's official website .

They're looking for bands without a home – in other words, those who aren't currently signed – to show off their best track before a global audience of more than 80 million MySpace users. So it's simple: the demo will go up for a certain span of time, and MySpace users will vote for their favorite.

"Many of the biggest bands around the world have been first discovered through EA videogames, and now we are expanding the opportunity to unsigned bands through this year's Burnout Bandslam," says Steve Schnur, worldwide executive of music and marketing for EA. "The Burnout videogame series is all about attitude and rebellion. So I look forward to discovering a band or two which fits that definition."

Virgin Records will award the demo recording contract to each of the two lucky winners, and one runner-up from each region will receive a sweet Epiphone Les Paul Custom Guitar. So if you think your band has what it takes to give the next Burnout the appropriate jump-start, check out the site and give it a shot!
