Okay, even if it isn't real, it's worth a read.
Many gamers often harp on analysts like Michael Pachter, who are often quoted on a weekly basis. Most comments on game sites and in forums go something like, "yeah, I can talk common sense, too." So now, GamesRadar does a piece about how "concerned friends and family" of Pachter have begged him to get some help…and get a "real job." According to "the source:"
"I was surprised when I discovered he was still doing this. It was just me and him and a few friends, nothing big. We’d talk about games, make little predictions… a bet here, a bet there, and occasionally he'd be right, or at least close.
But then someone quoted him on the internet. It was nice at first, it made him feel good, but we couldn’t have known how it would spiral out of control. Now he’s arguing with bloggers on VH1… People even started taking investment advice from him, and eventually he thought it was his job. But we all know it just isn’t a job. We just want him to get help."
The article goes on to cite a "Harvard study" where "industry analyst" was in the top three of the most "common fictitious jobs" (along with direct marketing entrepreneur and artist). It's pretty darn funny, really. Sometimes, it really does seem as if analysts are simply looking at the numbers and market conditions, and drawing predictable conclusions.
But even so, it'll be interesting to hear Pachter's response to this. We hope he's a good sport.
I find it hard to agree with most of his recent analysis, though occasionally I agree but………
I never liked his comments, predictions etc., but yeah i agree with snaaaake that ocasionally he do talk some sense.
Next topic please.
I do usually try to catch his Gametrailers shows. Basically, I don't mind observing his insights because he has access to metrics I'd imagine most of us do not. I just wish he would be more conservative about his predictions. I'm pretty certain if someone created a chart that showed just how wrong he was with such matters, he'd be statistically considered unreliable. It doesn't help that he's usually on a show with an Edge guy(a company who is a disgrace to truth) and a Shacknews guy(like, where's cross-game chat on PSN? its so worthless without it–whatever). And they all tend to favor the 360. Thankfully, the host, Geoff K., tends to maintain neutral ground on biases.
They should do an intervention for him. I would like to see that :).
For whatever reason my irony meter is going berserk…
Mine on over drive! It's almost doing a Limit Break!
HAHA!
That article was so win….

LOL! That is funny. 🙂
Thank you Ben! this is too hilarious and truthful at the same time!
Patcher or whoever is a lunatic!
poor guy
Bobby Kotick should get an intervention for being a money grubber.
That's actually funny. But hey, if you can do a non-job, and get paid for it, why the hell not?
Something I find oddly disturbing though, why is 'artist' considered a fictitious job? Sure, the desire for art may not be as prevalent now, but that's like a slap to the face of Michelangelo, Bernini and da Vinci. That's just… sacrilegious.
Peace.
Hahaha. Ah, good read (^^,)
Finally, an article with Pachter's photo that I can agree with!
hahahahahah that is funny, i reckon he would be hating that! but honastly guys i believe he has been off the mark a few times. I often find myself disagreeing with him on a routine basis.
Truthfully i reckon many people on this site would make better Analyst's then Patcher.
He makes economists and weathermen look good.
Bogus.
As someone who works on Wall Street, let me tell you analysts and industry analysts are real. And Pachter and Divinich work at real companies.
Funny though.
fake money
Until I re-read part of it, I though this was a memo from his Doctor, LOL
