Well, the rumor about film maker Guillermo Del Toro getting involved in video games was true, and now it appears he's in it for the long haul.
After the "Pan's Labyrinth" and "Hellboy" director unveiled his game project – in collaboration with developer Volition and publisher THQ – at the Spike TV VGAs this past weekend, it seems that Del Toro and Co. are planning to go inSane three times over. That's right, THQ has revealed that the game will be the first in a trilogy…even though that first title won't arrive until 2013. As for the director, he had this to say:
"With this new series of video games, I want to take players to a place they have never seen before, where every single action makes them question their own senses of morality and reality."
Del Toro is the creative director and although we don't have much information on it just yet, some say it'll be an RPG, or perhaps more accurately, an action/RPG (yeah, well, what isn't an action/RPG these days?). Furthermore, Del Toro will own the rights "to any filmed entertainment products" based on the game, so he could be going for a double whammy; i.e., three games and three blockbuster movies to go along with 'em.
As for intended platforms, the game's website lists PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, and the corresponding PSN and XBLA services. It'll be interesting to see how an accomplished movie director fares in the interactive entertainment world. Given how close the two mediums have come over the past few decades, perhaps he'll be able to do some amazing things…

I'm pretty keen on this. If it's anything like Silent Hill 1 to 4 then it will be right up there on my must buys.
Horror games are too far & between lately, the only decent one was Siren: Blood Curse from memory. Other than that Silent Hill went down the sh!tter after it when all Westernised, while F.E.A.R 2 & Clive Barkers were projectile vomit worthy.
If this has the psychological effect of SH3 or SH2 then i will be licking my lips. Can't wait to hear more. This has scary potential.

Sounds promising.
If the first game is scheduled for 2013, chances are that the trilogy won't be concluded this generation.
Del Toro is a pretty visually creative guy. I hope this is good. If it isn't, he's gonna find out real fast that it takes more than his name on the box to sell games.
Sounds good, but it's too far away to start getting excited for it. I did like the creativity on show in Pan's Labyrinth, but the other movies of his that I've seen I found to be somehat underwhelming. I'll keep an eye on this one.
Peace.
I like the directorial style of Del Toro and I do have high hopes for this title. I also have respect for DT for this comment he made earlier this year,
"Video games are the comic books of our time [yet] it's a medium that gains no respect from the intelligentsia. They say 'oh, video games'. And most people who complain about video games have never fu**ing played them.'
2013 is a long ways off but if and when they start showing what they come up with and it looks like it can scare the pants off of me, then I will happily get this.
Does anyone notice that the logo for the game resembles infamous a little bit…I'm just sayin.
my thoughts exactly.
Yep..ripped straight from inFamous lol.
I thought it was just me that I was going crazy or something. So sense the logos share the same look does that mean that this game could possible be a survival horror version of infamous because those were the 1st thoughts that came to my head when I saw the logo and that would make for awesome game. Kinda like what Undead Nightmare is to the Original Red Dead Redemption game.

7 years into the consoles lifetime, there will still be plenty of time left in the ps3 im sure
I'll keep my eye open for it.
even though that may hurt… apparently… 😛
Having this announcement and then seeing the 2013 release year was just plain retarded. They should really stick to making announcements a year prior to release because quite honestly, consumers don't care about how long somethings going to be in production. We'd rather hear that it's BEEN in production when announced, and have it come out shortly after.
Well heh! Look at it this way, he might have just been excited about having his very own videogame I mean who wouldn't be If I had my own game coming out I'd want to tell as many people as soon as possible, even if it is 3yrs off.

A trilogy? Oh man, trilogy announcements rarely go well.
OK, I'm interested!
Too Human: Horror Edition incoming.
