We've all assumed that Mass Effect 3 would come to the PlayStation 3 and furthermore, it would simultaneously launch for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, just like most all multiplayer titles.
After all, ME2 is finally coming to Sony's machine in January, developer BioWare has already made Dragon Age multiplatform, and EA simply doesn't do platform exclusivity; one of the biggest publishers in the world must cater to as many gamers as possible. But assumptions can lead to problems, so it's nice to have the official word. According to IGN , EA has confirmed that Mass Effect 3 will not only come to the PS3, it'll release for all major platforms at the same time. For the record, ME2 will launch with a ton of extra content for the PS3 on January 18 and the original ME will remain exclusive to the 360 and PC. Well, we sort of have to look forward here; progression is the name of the game, and after seeing that teaser trailer , role-playing followers ought to be plenty excited. As this generation pushes forward, the concept of the third-party exclusive is dying out…but at least we still have a few huge exclusive titles for each platform.
The only problem is that the holiday 2011 season is just plain out of control . How the heck are we going to play all the games we want to play?! 'sob'

The trailer they showed got me pretty pumped for this one, ME2 is a must play hands down! One of the better stories I have enjoyed in awhile. Plus, its coming to the PSTriple, great news!
VGA featured nothing exclusive for the 360.
Why do people keep buying it?
I read somewhere that Epic was supposed to reveal a Gears of War 3 trailer, but I don't think I ever saw that. What happened?
They gave 360 GotY to Mass Effect 2 which is very soon to be a multiplat.
Ironic, no?
Simple. Epic knew of Nathan Drake making an appearance.
Funny if that's true. Gears of War is not feeling too confident going against Uncharted? Who would have thought? Haha!
Had Gears been there, it'd have already become blind due to all that sand 😉
No, you wanna know whats really funny? I stumbled across a few websites siting the games exclusive to the 360 next year. It was sort of a top ten list i suppose. but whats funny, 8 of the 10 are games that are not huge exclusives in fact 2 were kinect games and the rest must be new unproven ip' that given credit, could turn out to be good. And one of them was gears 3. The other 2 they admitted havnt been announced and are more just hopeful for! One was yes a new halo game.
Thats just pathetic if you ask me. You dont write an article stating the top ten 360 exclusives for 2011, and put in titles that havnt been announced.
Listen i have no qualms woth the 360 in fact their are some games id love to be able to play. But most of those games are becoming multiplat, like mass affect for instance, n it started with bioshock. I jist find it really pathetic that these fans of the 360 are reaching out thinking aomething is there wheb it isnt. Yes the 360 will have games out next year but looking at the future none of those will be even a shimmer of light next to the huge lineup that is 2011 for the PS3.
Indeed Bigrailer –
I only personally know one 360 player who isn't overly concerned with things Sony related.
Most of them don't come out of the Green tree they live under.
Great to hear a solid confirmation from EA. This is good news to those who are looking forward to playing Mass Effect on their PS3s. I am likely going to Get ME2 when it comes out this January, but I still have quite a backlog of games. But with all the additional content and the effort that Bioware put into "porting" the game over to the PS3, it sure deserves my attention at the very least. I just hope that it would be a great port.
And yes, Holidays 2011 is looking mighty crowded for the PS3. Lots of AAA titles slated to come out. It's great to be a PS3 owner! I am sure that Sony would not put these games out at the same time, but some of them could overlap. Do we have a date for inFamous 2 already?
I am actually glad ME2 is coming to the PS3.
The game looks good.
All I want for Christmas is money for games next year. Im sure I can do without more clothes…my current selection of 7 shirts, 2 pairs of pants and 1 jacket is doing just fine! 😉
A good move by Bioware. Delaying games a year can't possibly encourage good sales numbers.
Like you Ben I am having a hard time caring about these games. I downloaded the demo for ME2 on my PC and while its a nice looking game and runs surprisingly well for an Unreal game(I guess that proves Unreal is a PC engine)it left me with a stale taste in my mouth. The game play is clunky, the voice acting is okay but nothing great and the atmosphere was dull. Not sure I'll be getting these games next year unless someone gives them to me or loans me a copy.
It won't matter if a PS3 owner or 360 tells me the games are better than Uncharted. I think Space Opera's just aren't my thing.
Just an example, the most avid fan of Uncharted could tell me he liked Mass Effect better and I still wouldn't be convinced. Though, I supposed if Ben ends up liking the game more than he does now, I could be persuaded since I am in the same place he is on this.
The only reason I wanted to purchase an Xbox was for this and maybe Gears. No need anymore since I get it next year along with 3 on the lovely PS3, I have no need for an Xbox. I love sci-fi crap and this game seems to thrive off of that, great music and a great story…A must buy next year for me. I want this more than Infamous 2, but not Killzone 3. Dead Space 2 might have to wait because Killzone and Infamous will be my number 2 and 3 priorities early next year. Bring on Mass Effect 2. I'm ready for another great game.
ME2 was easily my GOTY this year. And even though I finally got a X360 and ME is coming to the PS3, I think I'll still get the PC version. I've grown accustom to killing the Geth and Reapers with a mouse and keyboard.
Mass Effect 3 will be one hell of a game! The whole series is fantastic.
"…holiday 2011 season is just plain out of control ."
I think the whole year is, with such an abundance of AAA titles.
is mass effect multiplayer? or is that first paragraph supposed to read multiplatform?
I think 2011 will be the most intense year this gen for sure, theres gonna be alot of late nights, and alot of weekends hybernating inside away from human contact hahahaha and im loving it!
ME2 demo next week, 21st (US), for the peoples on the fence or don't know what to expect, me in particular.
oh, I can't wait. And I can't wait to hop on these boards and stick it to Jawknee 😉 by claiming the 360 version is better =p
What in Gods name are you talking about? I never said either version was better than the other.
With all the big games hitting in September through December 2011, commence the delays to Q1 2012.
Damnit. I dont think i'll be able to play all those games next holiday. I'll probably be still busy playing gran turismo loool
That is, until they release that FF7 remake we know is coming.
Wow, i was expecting atleast 6 months timed release for 360 but EA have been SONY gimps lately so i probably should have expected this.
All in all, great news! A game this masterful deserves a bigger audience. Those who haven't played it & wanted to are in for one hell of an experience.
Make sure you play on renegade with a fem shepherd if you want to feel like a complete bad ass.
I'm going to buy Mass Effect 3. It looks like something you can really sink you teeth into.
I want…
and will be getting both versions
Better known as "MS wouldn't pay us for exclusivity"
Or MS is running out of spare cash 'cause they're getting beat in the phone market (Android/iPhone), replacing all them RRoD 360's, spending more for advertising on Kinect than what they'll ever make back in profits, and it's cool these days to own a Mac, and who the heck uses Zune?
=p
