Casino Royale For First PlayStation 3 Owners

When we received our PS3s here in the states, Sony threw in a free Blu-Ray of Talladega Nights found in the first 500,000 PS3s. While certainly not Will Ferrell's best movie, it was still a nice like pack-in that made for a good show piece of what HD is all about. European PS3 owners, on the other hand, thought they got shafted when Sony announced their PS3 launch a few weeks ago.

But it turns out that isn't the case anymore. Sony Computer Entertainment of Europe has officially announced that the first 500,000 European PS3s to be registered on the PlayStation Network will receive a Blu-Ray of the latest Bond film: Casino Royale. What's more is that Casino Royale is going to be one of the very first 50GB dual-layered Blu-Ray movies released. The film will feature uncompressed audio and can be displayed as high as 1080p.

Explaining the offer, Darren Carter, VP Brand and Consumer Marketing said, “The PLAYSTATION®Network unlocks the broad range of interactive entertainment features of PLAYSTATION 3. It’s easy to set up, offers free online gaming, has great tools for staying in touch with friends and family, and includes a wide variety of content for download through the PLAYSTATION®Store.”

“All this, and more, will enable users to experience a whole new world of interactive entertainment, and that is why we are offering the phenomenal incentive of Casino Royale, on Blu-ray disc, to PS3 owners who register on the PLAYSTATION®Network. Casino Royale not only makes the most of the features and capabilities of the Blu-ray format, but is one of the most exciting and entertaining movies to debut on Blu-ray this year.”

Casino Royale over Talladega Nights? Without question Europe got the better deal on everything related to the PS3.
