That very sweet Collector's Edition has been unboxed and fully detailed over at the PlayStation Blog . For the relatively agreeable price of $99.99, you will receive a copy of the game (some fans would pay a hundred bucks just for this), a collectible Diecast Car (it's a 1:43 scale 2009 Nissan GT-R Spec V), exclusive "Apex" Car Guide (300 pages of driving techniques, automotive history, track reference material, and more), and no less than five exclusive DLC cars. Oh wait, there's one more thing- a nifty custom-etched Gran Turismo key chain, which of course must be used for your car keys. …just don't forget that your car probably isn't as capable as those in the game, and the roads aren't the best place to practice. To top it all off, just to prove you're better than your friends, you'll get a numbered certificate of authenticity, which you may as well have framed. Sure, there are lots of great games available now but when it comes to racing, only one game matters this week.
Oh, by the way, if you scroll down through the Comments at the Blog, you'll find that custom soundtracks have been confirmed…and you even get a Trophy for using them. 😉

Totally disagree but to each his own I guess. Any die hard gt fan will love this. That 300 page book is golden. I cannot wait for mine!
The book alone is something true GT fans NEED to have. There's no 2 ways about it.
And 5 cars specifically customized/designed by Polyphony, that's worth some!
Cool stuff indeed. But 99,99$ is the price for the normal edition in Denmark – I can't find the price on the CE, but it will probably cost 150$.. 🙁 And therefore I will not get it..
Disagree. I not only bought the CE for myself, I bought the regular version for my sons. Gotta raise them right after all…

sorry to say though bud, only way to get that collectors edition now is to win it on ebay. gamestop no longer takes preorders
can't freaking wait for this! I'm not a HUGE racing enthusiast or anything but I know my dad is and I still have fun with the GT games regardless and hopefully GT5 will get my dad to play my ps3 😛
If not he can page through that book while you play.
I cannot wait for this special edition. That 300 page book sealed it for me. That and I usually get all first party special editions:)

Anyone else watched the "Now Playing" of Gamespot?
They totally picked the wrong guys to do it as they were not so excited and no enthusiasm for it.
But I gotta say, the load times will be frustrating if you don't install it.

Logitech Driving Force GT for Gran Turismo
^That one, or you can try to get the G27 ($300+), yeah…
The G25 & G27(the upgraded G27 being considered as the best of the best of wheels), but both of them are very pricey, running in at a couple, to a few hundred $$$
There's also another wheel that was actually made for one of the earlier GT's, but I don't at the moment, I don't remember the name of it, or it's cost.
Plus there's a few wheels in the low to mid $100 range, but I'm not sure how good they are.
Anyway, my best guess would be to go Google, YouTube, and Yahoo it for more info on wheels & then also research each one individually too.
dont waste your time or cash with the G27.
id get the fantec GT3 wheel, its a replica of a real Porsche GT3 wheel.
much more comfortable swade instead of leather, bumps behind the wheel to hold your fingers and the pedals have much more resistance.
best of all everything customizable, unlike the G27.
also the G27 requires developers to add features to there games, for example allot of games dont use the G27 shifters but you wont have that problem with the GT3.
more or less the same price as the G27, but much much better!
plus logitechs reliability is not the best, my Z5500 speakers broke 2 days after use had to wait 4 months to get my replacements!
I've got the Logitech Driving Force Wireless wheel which is a step down from the G25/G27 wheels but has the advantage that it sits on your lap and doesn't need clamped onto anything. (ooer missus)
A cheaper option but it is still a Logitech wheel and I've played it fine on GT5:Prologue and Dirt 2.
You still need to plug it into the AC mains to power the thing but it connects to the PS3 using a wireless USB.

I must say the GT3 seems to be a brilliant option, but they're not available at any retail outlets where I live, and the cost of ordering it from elsewhere is just unreal – I could buy a new set of allot=y wheels for my real-life ride for that much!

its exactly the same price as the G27 here, so i assume it would be the same everywhere else.
there pricey, but if you intend to get everything out of GT5 there definitely worth it!
otherwise, check off ebay i was going to buy one off there for 500 AUD but by the time i got paid it had already sold.

I preordered the Collector's Edition back on July 24th, changed my Shipping address and now I have to wait five days for it… I paid for release date shipping… I can't wait that long. I've called amazon trice and they seem to not be able to change it back. I'm going to run by gamestop and Best buy tommorrow, In hopes that they an't sold out. If neither of them have it. I'll have to try Wall mart. I don't no why I didn't so that in the first place, then I could just go to the store and pick it up rather then dealing with all this bull…

O yes I got mail that the game has been shipped! The TNT postal strike is 25th and 26th. If it hits the mailbox tomorrow I am busy jumping up and down and doing some ridiculous dancing… for at least during the installment of the game.
Apparently the game has a progressive installation if you don't want to wait initially. It installs segments as you load tracks and cars for the first time. How cool is that?!

Can't wait 'til Friday night. I won't get home until probably 8pm… And my sister's kids will be here, so I won't be able to play much then. Saturday is going to be awesome though. Getting my mitts on that Obsidian Black steelbook case of the Signature Edition is going to be all sorts of satisfying. Over three years of official waiting, and now there are only days left.
Once this is over I'll be glad to get amped up again for LBP2. And I know that Arnold is reviewing it, but when can we expect it to be up, because although the result is almost a given, I still want to read what you lads think of it. Another question: How many members are thinking of doing a User Review? And one final comment: If the poll results thus far are any indication of the overall PS3 owner demographic, we can expect twenty million sales within the first week of release, with upwards of thirty million in the lifespan of the game! That's ridiculous, and we all know it isn't going to happen.

One of the editors, the racing guru, over at GameSpot recorded his first hour of play ( he sucks) and, through his commentary as he played, had nothing nice to say about GT5.
Just ordered my CE. Wasn't sure if I was going to get it as I'm not big into racing games but it just looks to sweet to pass up.
