Now that Gran Turismo 5 is definitely coming next week, have you dropped your deposit yet?
If not, you have your choice of pre-order incentives from various retailers near you. It seems like GamerDeals has the big ones covered: Amazon will throw you a free $10 video game credit and the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Stealth Model Car, which is very sweet. You can save a few bucks by getting it at Buy.com, where you can purchase GT5 for $54.99 (free shipping) and while GameStop has no more Collectors Editions available, you can still get two exclusive cars if you pre-order; the McLaren F1 Stealth and the Joey Logano NASCAR vehicle. K-Mart gives you a $25 gaming coupon, and Wal-Mart has yet another different bonus car; the Honda NSX GT500 Stealth Model Car. Which one appeals to you? Of course, the game itself remains the biggest appeal, as hardcore racing fans the world over will finally get the game they've been waiting on for years. Have you been patient?
It's too bad about the lack of Collectors Editions but hey, the true fans pre-ordered long ago, right?
Related Game(s): Gran Turismo 5
I had the regular edition preordered for a bit and then I caved and canceled it then reordered the collectors edition. OOOH! It's gonna be tasty!
I've had mine pre-ordered for months! Unfortunately I pre-ordered at Noel Lemming in New Zealand and they don't have any pre-order incentives that I'm aware of, but it only costs NZ$90 and it's freaking Gran Turismo 5 so hey what am complaining about?!
I preordered my Collectors Edition at Gamestop way back when Nov 2 was announced.
Amazon's deal looks best for me. I think I may do that one =)
I'm not a day after Thanksgiving freak shopper. I've worked retail where I observed 5,000 years of human evolution de-evolve into our lesser more hominid-like ancestors–figuratively speaking. I'm not a fan of Darwinism as I do believe in God and Jesus =)
"Devolve" and I don't think the two are mutually exclusive 🙂
So you believe in evolution but you're not a fan of Darwinism?
You can still believe in some form of evolution and not agree completely with Darwin's assessment.
Evolution is a scientific theory. Therefore it is just as much a fact as is the theory of gravity, tested by thousands of scientists worldwide and never disproven. Jesus doesn't change that. Sorry.

Yes, us true fans did preorder a while back.
Sorry for you who lucked out on the collector's edition. I'm getting mine on day one from amazon.
I'm also getting the SLS AMG stealth car with my collector's edition. I preordered mine back on July 24th, I would of preordered it a long time ago, but I was short on money.
GT5 is selling very well, good luck with getting a copy for you who are not preordering, expecting to walk in to a store and pick one up. I really hope you can do that, I hope Sony and PD has millions of copy's on store shelf's on launch. I hope no body goes home with out a copy.
I got a Shelby Cobra for one of my DLC(all five cars have Chrome paint, performance package/tuned)!
see you all on the track:D
GT5(GOTY) countdown: 6 days 1 hour!!!
Calm down everyone, all preorder incentives eventually get released as overpriced DLC =)
but that's why you pre-order so you don't have to pay for over-priced DLC 😉
So is that some art you did of Tifa?

I wish I was that good an artist, it's somebody elses that I shrunk.
Kaz should give us a ton of free DLC in exchange for delaying the game so often. Give me a track or two and a handful of cars and all will be forgiven 😉
Too be fair Bandit, they only delayed the game once. The only official release date other than the 24th was the 2nd.
They said March of this year once. Not a specific day, but i do recall them saying March.

AC brotherhood 40 bucks on kmart already?!?! damnnnn Kmart is the place to go…
I will be buying NBA Jam for $49.99 then taking the $20 gaming coupon from that and using it towards The Sly Collection. Then, using that $15 gaming coupon on GT5. Then, taking the $25 gaming coupon and using it on Create. Awesome deals at Kmart.
Getting a dlc car for buying a game that has 1000 cars in it seems kinda silly. Then again, I'm not a big fan of car simulations so what the hell do I know?
Hey Ben, you forgot bestbuy's preorder incentive. You get 500pts = $10 (eventually) and the Nissan GT-R GT500…
–the code is actually in the preorder box. so i might actually return the preorder and go preorder elsewhere…gotta get all the stealth cars i can get 🙂
Guys, after watching more footage recently I am a little worried. In the rally section when you crash it seems that, like prologue, the cars just bounces off barriers and nettings without and visible damage or deformities to the objects being hit. It seemed the same as Prologue.
I must admit, thus far the Dirt series may have a better damage modeling engine than GT5. I am not going to be blinded by this title. It should have those things in there as standard. The EGO engine for Dirt3 looks even better thank Dirt2.
I really hope GT5 is everything it was promised to be… gulp!
Unless I am expecting too much!

Be fair, Dirt2 is a rally simulation game, it can afford to pay attention to small details that make the rally experience more authentic than Gran Turismo can. That said, it's the driving physics more than the scenery that make it worth a drive.
I'm fairly certain you can turn damage on and off.
I think you guys are right… maybe that footage was showing no damage because of that!

I went with bestbuy since amazon rarely gives the good deals to us Canucks.
Plus another 10 bucks in credit for ordering it at an ungodly hour of the morning.
Hope the damage modeling is at least decent. After 6 years anything but high expectations would seem kinda odd.
apparently this has been delayed AGAIN in EU!
🙁
oh well, NFS hot pursuit and ACB are more than enough to keep me occupied.
No, not really, unless I am losing my ability to read, there was a rumor that it would not hit in Europe until Nov 26th, but that was squashed by Sony, who confirmed a simultaneous release. So unless something additional has happened, it's arriving on or about the 24th in Europe.
Oh, and incidentally, I put up my part 2 of my Need for Speed Hot Pursuit review now that I have the actual game and not just a demo. It's in the User reviews section.

while on the topic of HP, i can not believe it does not have G27 support!
no scratch that, i can not believe it does not have most racing wheels support!
WTF?
whats the point of making a racing game and not supporting a racing wheel?
i dunno whats wrong with this game, but all the cars feel so sluggish and heavy.
theres a massive delay between turning the analogue stick and the car turning.
feels like im driving freaking tanks, not cars.
i was expecting this to feel like burnout paradise, but it does not, it feels like, well nothing ive ever played before.
I have to agree with you there _________. It seems there is lot of deadzone in the analog sticks, it feels unresponsive at times. I have to try with my DFGT, i dont know if its supported either.

I don't use a wheel, so I wasn't aware of the lack of support there, that's definitely a knock against it. On the joystick thing, I'm not noticing a dead zone in the center. I find the stick is less sensitive towards the center, but not totally dead, It seems like a logical choice for an arcade racer to elect to have slightly more tolerant controls. But there is still some movement towards the center, it's just not very pronounced.
remember it's an arcade racer with car to car combat (of sorts) so the driving physics are not going to be terribly real, they can't be. You can't drive a car at 150+ MPH and slam into another car without fatal results for all concerned. If you don't like arcade racers that feel and play like arcade racers, then you probably need to wait another week for GT5. If you're after the arcade racer fun, then it might be an idea to worry less about the unreality of it, and more about the fun.

i love arcade racers, i loved burnout paradise its my favorite racing game released this gen!
i thought this would control the same as burnout, but its totally different!
the cars feel so heavy, you have to hold the stick for a few moments before the car starts turning.
you see a corner coming up, so you start turning and you go from the inside of the corner to just before the wall on the outside before the car starts turning.
i keep slamming into the wall because i ask the wheels to turn and instead of turning i get put onto a waiting list!
the cars feel so heavy, they under steer so much its not funny!
even the muscle cars, they dont under steer, they over steer!
you smash the accelerator mid bend in a muscle car and your going to spin, but in this the car just under steers.
i dont want this to be a sim, i would hate it as a sim, i want it to control and feel like burnout paradise which it could not be further from!
i think they did it like this to try and force people to drift around every single corner, but that does not work either, again because of the lag.
the game tells you, to drift come off the gas than slam it on.
so you anticipate a corner, you turn in a little early, come off the gas than back on and the car under steers, than just before you slam into the outside wall the back steps out.
your constantly waiting for everything, the back should come out as soon as i stamp on the gas not 4.2 seconds later!
if they fixed the controls, and added G27 support i would freaking love this game!
id give it a 10/10.
but like this, i can only give it a 4.
even on the PC version, that has wheel support if you drive on a straight and do a full rotation it takes a few moments for the car to steer.
if i turn the wheel the car should turn immediately, but it does not, every time i ask the wheels to turn i get put onto that darned waiting list!!!!!
PLEASE REPLY:
i pre-ordered my copy of GT5 from "EB Games" Last night (canaidan version of gamestop, same company) and will the same pre-order bonuses be given to canadian customers?
Yes the preorders remain the same for EB games
I pre-ordered it back in January but then canceled when the "shortly after the March release in Japan" was missed. Then I pre-ordered it again back in, I dunno, August or something. Getting it from Amazon for $55 with free release day shipping and a $10 credit towards a future game purchase. I didn't even realize they had the Stealth Mercedes in the deal.
I just hope they actually get it to me on Wednesday – I've already got the beer purchased and in the fridge!
JackC8,
Since GT5 is shooting for realism, just make sure your well-stocked beer fridge doesn't lead to your racing demise.
I'd hate to see you get yourself a virtual DWI arrest, LOL

I enjoy the excitement and wonderment of walking into stores to see if it's there. Never preordered anything in my life. I am a "if it's meant to be.." kind of person.
Yes I am a twisted messed up mofo.
But more times than not I walk out of the store with a feeling of win all over me.
Got mine pre-ordered long long time ago and I'm not a true fan, I just fell for the hype and potential this game has.
Just slightly disappointed that the US Collector's Edition comes with a Nissan GTR model.
I could have opted for the Asian Collector's Edition which comes with a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG but the Apex manual is in chinese so………..
LOL! My CE is the US edition, pre-ordered through Amazon. Thanks to the date slippage, I also am getting release day shipment for free… Excellent.
just pre-ordered it 🙂
i went with GS cuz i figured getting two cars early would be good. maybe we can sell them in game if we don't like them. choosing between a McLaren F1, Nissan GTR GT500, and the Mercedes SLS AMG… pretty good problem to have i suppose
Silly me. I had pre ordered the collector's addition in July think it would be released on the 2nd. oh well. itll just arrive when it arrives i guess
LOL!

Maniacal Laughter In The Distance.
ive got this preordered at game.
why?
becuase ive got a giftcard and a reward card. might as well build up the points. might get me a tidy discount sometime.
I pre-ordered my copy of Gran Turismo 5 Collector's Edition on the 24th of July. These babies are numbered and to see that Gamestop doesn't have any more of the C.E. makes it an even sweeter gem.
I'm so looking forward to Playstation Domination via Gran Turismo 5.
Amazon > all
GT5 = FTW!
so many cars to choose from in this game….. Suck on that Forza
theres an unboxing of the special edition and regular edition on "gtplanet" if anyone here wants to see an unboxing…
im luky i got my collectors. its funny i had my preordered at gamestop but as the regular edition. i wanted to cancel it they told me just to wait and if they had any leftover collectors on launch day i could upgrade right there nd there. i was like f that so i preorderd it at best buy for collectors. man did they not want to cancel it
I had my pre-order in at the start of 2010, but then Future Shop Canada last weekend had an online pre-order deal that was too good to turn down.
I got a wired (49.99 Canadian) wheel with the pre-order of GT 5.
Would love it to have been the wireless wheel, but I'll take the wired one.
Forgot to mention the wired wheel at 49.99 was included free with the GT 5 pre-order.
