Via official press release and an announcement over at the PlayStation Blog , Sony has revealed the finalized release date for Gran Turismo 5 . Over the past few days, we had compiled evidence that pointed towards an end-November launch and that has proven true: one of the most anticipated titles of the generation will be available in North America on November 24. It's one of those uber-ambitious projects that should be downright epic for hardcore racing aficionados everywhere. Said Polyphony Digital president, Kazunori Yamauchi:
"Gran Turismo 5 is an ambitious project, with challenges and complexities which have made it our version of the Apollo Space Program!" When we created the original Gran Turismo back in 1997, we wanted to set a completely new precedent for the racing genre. With the technological leap onto PlayStation 3, our objective with Gran Turismo 5 was to create another great revolution which would not only satisfy our own high expectations, but would meet or even exceed the anticipation of the fans. Satisfying the loyal Gran Turismo followers is at the heart of all of our efforts, which is why it was such a difficult decision to delay the release of the game, and one which we did not take lightly. I can only apologize to everyone for making you wait so long, and I hope that when you try out the wealth of driving experiences available in Gran Turismo 5, you will not be disappointed."
Anybody else get chills reading that? GT5 features several of the world's most famous racetracks, brilliant high-definition visuals, an impressive lineup of over 1,000 cars and of course, what should be the most realistic physics to date. The link to the Blog above reminds you about the pre-order incentives – as if you don't already have it pre-ordered – and says they'll have "much more on Gran Turismo between now and launch."

it's going to be one very quiet year after that game hits the shelves. I think the anticipation has been built up for so long, most people will lock themselves in their rooms and be soaking up the most realistic and greatest driving simulator ever! GT5, here we come!

My first pre-order ever! Unfortunately a few weeks shall pass until it gets from the UK to my impatient hands. I only played the first one and remember countless hours of frustrations, joy, losses, triumphs… This has everything to be just wonderful.

Holy crap! I thought this game would not come out this year but I'm so out of 59.99 plus tax. Also I bet this gets 100 plus comments.
All of us are going to buy this don't ya? , I'm gonna be disappoint in the people that not , and angry at those that bought Black Ops over this.
Don't be disappoint in those that not, worry instead about the self of yours of whose grammar something to be desired leaves.
I jest. For people who had to choose between GT5 and Black Ops, and chose Black Ops, I suppose that is a little disappointing. Of course, if they prefer shooters over racers, maybe that's just there preference and its not really a big deal. I for one will have both, because variety is the spice of life.
I guess Im the only one here that won't be buying? hahaha.

I know what I'll be playing in a week and a half. I need a GT5 license plate in game that says "I brake for Bird", because Thanksgiving is the only thing that will pull my attention from this game. I pre-ordered the Collector's Edition and can't wait to get my hands on it.

For the record, there was only one "official release date" and the one delay past that time was only three weeks in length.
You know ben, i actually did end up emailing sony with a slightly angry/annoyed tone two days ago, and they did give me that date. ive been trying forever to get on this site, but for some reason it was down all day except for right now.
what about the march date?
still does not excuse spending 6+ years on one freaking game, no matter how big or good it is!
if ND can do uncharted 2 in the matter of less than 24 months than i think 6 years is a little overkill!

The March date was just for japan.
Nov 2 was the only official "world wide" date.
I am so happy … I think I have trouble sleeping te 23th.
Well I will have trouble sleeping on the 23rd but that will be cause I'm standing in line for the midnight release and then playing it till I have to go to school on wednesday. Damn chem tests… who needs em?
