It's nice to see a new RPG emerge amidst the Call of Duty ruckus.
Today, Mastertronic has announced it has obtained the rights to distribute Deck 13's fantasy role-playing game, Venetica . It'll release tomorrow, November 12, for the Xbox 360 and PC, "with the PlayStation 3 version following a few weeks later." Set in 16th-century Venice, players will take the role of Scarlett, who sets off on a classic vengeance quest; a secret alliance of powerful necromancers killed her companion, and she wants to find out why. Along the way, Scarlett learns she is the daughter of death incarnate and just so happens to have access to crazy power. Therefore, the alliance called down the wrong kind of thunder, as Scarlett is the only one who can stop them from destroying the entire living world. Equip awesome weapons, bring allies together, and master the dark powers of death to succeed. The only downside is that based on the press release , this may be a European-only release. We'll have to wait and see on that score.
But if it is exclusive to Europe, good for the Euro gamers. They're too often cut out of the gaming loop, anyway.
Related Game(s): Venetica
I don't understand this exclusive stuff. Why make this game exclusive to anyone? Why not offer it to all?
The fee's to produce more and translations generally keep a lot of products in few areas
Since england is in europe it would be no translation to sell it also in the US.
As for european releases, a *lot* of the games are enlish only anyways.

What's exclusive on the PS3 these days, it's region free. All you have to do is find a European retailer that wil sell it to you, or go to somewhere like PlayAsia. If it's released in Europe, that includes the United Kingdom, so the game has to have been localized in English.
Exclusivity? Meh! If it's on a disk for the PS3 anywhere and has an English sound track and text option, you can buy it and play it on any PS3.
LOL I just asked that exclusivity question and you just answered it. Perfect timing.
I knew the PS3 was region free but wasn't sure if that was changed/could be changed.

I had an experience with a psn game, "rocket fuelled action carts" or something like that, where I bought the game using my US account (as it was released there first). I played with a buddy that also bought it using his us account. Then, later when it was released in europe a couple of buddies bought the game using their regular euro account. And here's what happened: They could connect to eachother and play, and I could connect to my buddys game, but the us bought games could NOT connect to the euro bought games. We could never play with them, and they could not connect to us. And this is with all of us playing with the local (main) euro account.

Wait Ben, if its exclusive to European gamers, doesn't that mean I can still import it since PS3 is region free?
EDIT: Never mind, thanks Highlander
Regardless I'm happy to see another RPG on the market. Indeed it is good for them since they do often unfairly get the shaft.

Wow… this looks GOOD! Here's hoping it will score 80+ on gamerankings, then it's a sure buy!

I'm watching a trailer for it now and as expected it does have the english texts and audio (with lovely english accent I might add)
Graphics look pretty nice. Great landscapes/setting overall, though character models when compared to the main seem very bland, though I guess thats to be expected.
This game kinda gives me a cross between Oblivion and Dragon Age kinda feel music and setting wise.
Battles system is real-time, so think along the lines of DS but without the unforgiving difficulty. (would have liked to see something a little different but o'well)
Didn't get to see any magic use but I'm pretty sure its in there.
I hope this game scores well so I can justify an import.
On a side note, Scarlet is pretty good-looking for pixels lol. Also I think the devs did a good job with facial expressions during dialogue with respect to her (though its no Uncharted 2)
This has a 1/4/11 release date for the PS3 over at GameStop.
Why in the world would they release an rpg only in Europe? They already don't sell that well. Why do this?
Well, I am European so I will get a chance to try it…..when I do, I will tell you more! 😉
Is it turn-based?
Death's daughter with crazy powers. Trying to decide if I would to hit 'attack' on a menu and watch Scarlette bathe red from gruesome death kills [pun intended]…or mash buttons in sequence and execute those blows myself…
Would rather*
Who has a review?
Just checked a review site, similar to Metacritic and the PC version pulled down scores over 80 consistently. I may just have to get this one. Not to mention that it actually does sound very interesting.
Peace.
I found only a xbox review, and there it was 41.00%… *ugh* A link to your site?

Just a list of the some scores there, but there are links to the reviews. I don't think any are in English, but that doesn't change the effect it has on the scores, does it?
Peace.
Wow… Indeed. How strange that (apparently) no english site has received any review copies… Thanks for the link!
