Wait a minute…it seems O-Games may know something we don't.
O-Games, publisher of the recent PlayStation Network addition, Superstars V8 Racing , has announced a very interesting competition: they will give away 10 copies of Gran Turismo 5 to those who come out on top in some Superstars races. First, the contest details- weekly competitions will begin Friday, November 12 and you can find all the rules and regulations at the Superstars V8 Racing Facebook page . Players must pay attention to weekly updates on the week-long challenges that will result in 10 winners who have also opted to "Like" that aforementioned Facebook page. Said Greg Lanz, General Manager of O-Games, Inc.:
"Critics say that Superstars V8 Racing is a worthy investment and does more than just fill the void for all the racing fans waiting for the launch of Grand Turismo 5. Beginning next week and for the next ten weeks, we’ll be challenging players of Superstars V8 Racing on PlayStation Network to various leaderboard competitions, and award winners a brand new copy of Gran Turismo 5. Superstars V8 Racing is the perfect game for racing fans to sharpen their skills as they wait for Gran Turismo 5, and what better way than to reward fans with a brand new copy of the game. Exactly when we can ship GT5 is anybody’s guess, but rest assured, we will send out prizes whenever it hits retail shelves."
While they say they have no idea when GT5 will be available, it seems unlikely anybody would hold such a competition if there was any chance they wouldn't have the prizes when the contest completed. Granted, they may be saying, "eh, you just have to wait if you win" but then again, if we pair this with the multiple examples of GT5 somehow existing in the wild (check YouTube), we have to wonder… Anybody else think O-Games already has those 10 retail copies of GT5, but just aren't allowed to say when it will arrive?
Of course, the contest does last for 10 weeks, so maybe they "know" it won't be out until January. …that'd be a kick in the head, wouldn't it?
Related Game(s): Gran Turismo 5
Hmm, this sounds interesting but I don't really need it as I have already have preordered. And also, if this is a ten week competition, then this really gives us no real information on the actual release date…..
No matter when GT5 releases, or if O-games already has those copies, or not…..
that's still 10 damned sweet contest prizes, for sure.
i dont understand how sony couldnt keep the slim or the pspgo from leaking out early, psp2 is supposidly "seen by other developers" and no one can get any info about when this game will come out. i understand silence at this point to keep from to much negative backlash but its now 8 days past launch with no date. what more do we need in this game? why cant it just come out?
off topic but anyone see the new KB commercial about the canadian psn video store? funny stuff.
oh yea and home is getting a big update tomorrow

There was a story I saw on Google today that has an e-retailer claiming to have the GT5 CE in-stock already. Take that one with a pinch of salt I guess.
I still think that a November 23rd launch is a possibility. If that's the case, I expected an announcement this week and there's been none. Although they may be waiting until they have confirmation that sufficient copies are distributed or in distribution to manage a release on the 23rd. After all, they wouldn't want to announce the launch of such a high profile game only to discover that there were no where near enough copies in stores.
Still, if they announce a launch on the 23rd, it will change the complexion of the Holiday game buying period…

Yea thats the only reason why I can see them not giving us another date yet.
The 23d would make sense, i can't image they would be moronic enough to miss Black Friday. They kinda need to announce the date as early as possible. Nobody wants to open PSXE on the 22nd to find an announcement that GT5 goes on sale the next day.
Wait, has anyone tried calling Kaz and asking him? I'd call but I lost my phone and with it, all my numbers…
Oh man that sucks. If ever there was a device that would benefit from being part of a cloud, the cell phone it is. I mean, you have to be connected for it to work, so why not automatically mirror all your numbers and contacts and such to the cloud, so that if your phone breaks or is lost, you can get a new one and immediately update from the cloud.
haha well thankfully that didn't actually happen to me. I was just making an excuse for not having Kaz's number. However I could not agree with you more there Highlander! Thats one of the biggest things that baffles me when it comes to cell phones maybe they see it as too costly but it would definitely be a smart move in terms of differentiating themselves from competitors
Google stores phone numbers in the Cloud. Very handy. Or very intrusive. Depends how you look at it.
Google now fails their own "Do no evil" test, I don't trust them.
Go right ahead and e-mail either Polyphony or Sony.
…let me know how that goes. 😉
Ben, I'm doing that as we speak.
Does anyone have the number for Kaz's desk?
@bandit i would tell you, but then i would have to kill you 🙂
If it's worth anything, I noticed gameaccess has GT5 listed to release on the 31st of December.
Well idk, considering, generally games release on Tuesdays that doesn't make much sense. The 31 of december is a Friday…
That's a placeholder date.
The last time i looked at Sony's site it was listed as the 30th of Nov. They have to put something on the site even if its not accurate at all.
At the moment I'm hating Sony A LOT!!
Don't disrespect SONY, i'll have your hands for that!! I kid, i like feet 😉
Oh c'mon Snaaaake. There's plenty other games to play in the meantime. I seriously don't get why people are getting so bent out of shape because of delays. There are good reasons I'm sure. There usually always is.
So Sony can't even tell us it's december or november?
Then how can LBP2 which was delayed longer already got a January release date?
While I was initially upset about the delay, I was like, "guess I'll have to wait a bit more".
Now, with so many so-called "clues" and even vids of people playing it, Sony is still keeping their mouth shut.

Wow.
I am really surprised by this. Using another competitor's title to bring attention to your own product.
Creative marketing per se, but still.
I'll give it try.
The bit about GT5 being a regular guys hands, and with the evidence from all the YT vids. I have come to the conclusion that it maybe a massively funny marketing scheme. Anything as controversial as 1 person having the full GT5 would get peoples attention
lol, but 23rd seems fine enough for me
BTW, getting Black Ops is like getting an Iphone 3Gs from an 3G = Unnecessary
Considering that darned near everything in the game has been posted on Youtube over the past couple of days, I think the game is obviously finished and people somewhere are already playing it. And that's the only reason I'm excited that it will be coming out soon, because Sony obviously doesn't think that the millions of Gran Turismo fans worldwide are worth 5 minutes of their time to issue a press release and give us a date.
I think GT5 will release Nov 23rd.
And that would most certainly be a "grab it" for Black Fridays sales here in the US
Im sure it will be available in time for Christmas. Sony would be stupid to delay another game, especially a system seller until after the Holiday.s
Buy V8 Racing this close to GT5 launch?
Haha… nice try buddy.
Well apparently Sony has confirmed to retailers that it will be release on the 24 in the SCEE territory so… Idk… We'll never know until a press release. But there is an article about it on n4g if anyone is interested…
I'm so excited now! I'm more convinced it will be out before Christmas, maybe the 24th. There are new GT5 wheels coming out on the 25th delayed because of the GT5 delayed. They were originally coming out on the 3rd, a day after GT5 launched before the delay.
"GT5 will be here before Christmas"
It's coming, It's almost here I can feel it.
I believe PD is filling up stores with thousands of copy's. Sony is just waiting until they have enough to ship and have plenty on store shelf's. GT5 will be here for black Friday on or a day before. copy's of GT5 will move like crazy.
Think the leaked intro video, the leaked trophy list. The game is out there, people have there hands on it, some are playing it. I'm sure there are stores, game stores across the world with stacks of boxes full of Copy's of GT5. A release date will be here soon, very soon. PD is making sure no body is going with out GT5 on Launce day.
plus SOny already delayed a system seller(LBP2) GT5 is all they got, GT5 will be here before Christmas.
I would of got superstars V8 racing but I didn't because of two reasons
GT5 is coming soon and second it cost $20.
I also already got my copy(Collector's edition) ordered.

It WILL release on November 24th, and the proof is in the following link:
http://www.indianvideogamer.com/2010/11/november-24-release-date-for-gt5/
Basically, our Indian retailers have been informed by the distributor about this date.
i think your reading a little too much into this one…….
hope it is out by the 27th, but i certainly wont be holding my breath!
