Atlus To Unleash The Cursed Crusade Next Summer

These days, if it says "Atlus" on the press release, we're more than willing to lend an ear.

Today, Atlus USA has officially lifted the lid on yet another promising project, The Cursed Crusade . In addition to Trine 2 and Rock of Ages , the new medieval title will be the third Atlus game scheduled to release in 2011; it's coming to the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC next summer. Developed by Kylotonn Entertainment, this intense action/RPG game features plenty of combat, decent-looking visuals, and what should be a great amount of depth. Here's the teaser trailer:

Looks pretty damn good, right? And here are a list of features, which are also quite encouraging:

— Live intense combat sequences in third person view, in the heart of Crusaders’ army.

— Get more than 130 weapons of all kinds: axes, blades, crossbows…

— Experience the Templar’s Curse through the nightmarish Hell Vision!

— Provide your character with new armors and equipment, and upgrade his skills mission after mission!

— Give orders to Esteban Noviembre in the single player mode, or team up with another player in a cooperative mode to accomplish your mission!

— Travel through 40 distinct environments: from 12th Century Europe to the Byzantine Empire, from France to Syria, via Venice in Italy and Zara in Croatia!

— The most famous monuments and places re-created in 3D exact copies, from Hagia Sophia to Theodosius Walls, and the Constantine racecourse!

Sounds like a blast. For more information and the first set of screenshots, head on over to the game's official website .

Wow this looks pretty sweet. Looks kind of like demon's souls (not a bad thing at all). Atlus is on top of their game this generation. We have this and catherine to look forward to next year.

The gameplay (if it was game play) in the trailer makes this look like a hack 'n slash game set in the time of the crusades. Dynasty Warriors set in Europe and The Holy Land?

style of hack and slash is nothing like dynasty warriors, haha

Nah, few games compare to Dynasty's Warrior's gameplay. DW is all about flinging away 10 enemies every 10 seconds.

This game seems to be more like Assasin's Creed.

I hope the success of Demon's Souls doesn't affect Atlus in a negative way.

how could the idea that unique and new rpgs that were a great success as a ps3 exclusive give atlus bad ideas. If anything it should promote them to aquire more unique rpgs for the ps3

Here's hoping it has a good story behind it. It saddens me when a good working game has a terrible story, completely kills the game for me.

Multiplat, but it does look nice at this stage of developement. My first thought was an Assassins Creed placed in the 12th Century.

Ok, THAT looks amazing.

What is it about Atlus that makes them this awesome? I mean really? Did all the awesome in Japan simply transplant itself into the Atlus offices? Where are all the other devs putting out stuff like this? Hello SE? Hello Capcom? Hello??

looks like demons souls, BUT definitely NOT demons souls. it lacks that mysterious feeling, which is critical. but for sure will keep an eye on it

I was wondering when a company would do a Demon's Souls set in medieval reality. Looks like it's coming from the same publisher (for you guys anyway, ours was from Namco :D).

Anyway, I'd like to hear more about the story and the mechanics, but right now it's sounding like a straight up purchase.
Peace.

It looks like an awesome mix of Assassin's Creed, Demon's Souls and The Witcher. I can't wait for more info on this baby.
