Okay, so it "only does everything." But do you know how to do everything with it?
The PlayStation 3 is a fully functional multimedia entertainment device and chances are, you aren't totally checked out on all those nifty features. Furthermore, with more PSN features and enhancements added on a frequent basis, the whole capability of the machine might prove a tad overwhelming for some consumers. Therefore, we have a need for educational FAQs of a sort. In speaking to Joystiq , PSN director Susan Panico said Sony is in the process of "creating educational videos that will be a great welcome kit for people that are coming to the PS3 and the PlayStation Network." Basically, each video will be an individual, simple walkthrough with answers to common questions like, "How do I get streaming Netflix movies on my PS3?" It'll also tell you about the various PSN-exclusive content, like The Tester and Pulse. It seems Sony will be offering these helpful videos on both the PS3 XMB and online:
"Primarily, it's going to be content that you find very easily on PlayStation.com, as well as on the console itself, though we haven't decided where it's going to live on the XMB."
Well, so long as it's there, right? The Network has been growing and growing and growing lately; you need to be kept up-to-date.
probably nothing i wont already know but i will check them out. it is good that they are making something like this to make the ps3 easier to access for the general public
I sure as hell don't know everything about it so this is sweet.
This would be good for people like my dad. He knows how to play video games and is okay with computers and other tech devices but there's so many things the PS3 can do, he would benefit from this. Trying to get him to sell his Wii and buy a Move bundle. I may have to go halves with him to get him to buy it. ha! Maybe for Christmas. He has a sweet TV and surround sound set up but no Bluray player. He's been wanting one but always said if and when he gets one it will be a PS3.
I guess having the casual gamers on the PS3 was inevitable.
Cool, sort of like the bot box does with their "360 101" series.
I never got a manual with my used PS3, so other than going on-line to find stuff out, learning everything on it so far has been by trial & error. So there's probably something in the FAQ's that I could still learn.
I think Sony should give the full FAQ listing right under the system update.
And then, also have the first spot in separate sections too, meaning just those specialized FAQ's that pertain to that particular section, like Vid FAQ's in vid section, music ones in music section, etc, etc.).
that would be awesome if new ps3's came with an instructional bluray where Kevin Butler guides you through the ins and outs of the ps3
That would be awesome.
I suppose a help option doesn't hurt, but let's not cram the XMB full of too many things shall we? We all remember what happend to Robocop after being loaded with too many prime directives.
Yea, we'll have to run our PS3's through a high level of electricity to remove them. LOL! I love Robocop 1 and 2. Just watched 2 again the other night on Netflix. Classic.
How come PSX & Ps3fanboy.com always talk about the same thing same day? I saw this on Ps3fanboy.com earlier today… Not just this…
Uh…because both sites are PlayStation-oriented and follow news related to PlayStation?
But if you're wondering, I almost never go there for news. It either comes from press releases or the big sites like GameSpot, Joystiq, Kotaku, etc.

Fair enough. Just wandering.
Where are you wandering to?
LOL.
Since my dad just bought the ps3 move package, this would be a good feature for him, so he doesnt keep asking me on how to do stuff on his ps3, even though he is somewhat tech savvy …
X_shadowkilla_X,
Hey, I think your dad always asking you is a good thing….you & your dad still have the father-son bonding going on.
(Unless he asks you every 2.7 seconds) LOL
hmm. i know a whole hell of a lot of stuff about my PS3, but maybe this will be able to help me get the maximum usage out of my ps3 excluding PS+
Cool for new people. There will always be newbs whether it's new kids/teenagers or new adults.
Huh… A good thing I guess. Speaking of, a bloke the other day was trying to tell me changing the HDD voids the warranty because you have to remove screws. Needless to say, I walked away as soon as I could. But that's OT.
Peace.
This rumour will just not die. I wonder if it's being kept alive by Xbots.
so is this going to be a worldwide feature, or US exclusive like everything else?
Hope these vids won't bore to death… Spice it up, Sony!
do i hear kevin butler?
Maybe one of the vids can be about how to fix my own yellow light of death? Now THAT is something I'd be interested in… Just joking, but seriously. Do it. Come on…Do it. (as Ben Stiller in Starsky and Hutch)
Stay classy PSX
