Well sure, if they're doing a movie, they should do a book, too.
According to Kotaku , the first novel based on the award-winning Uncharted franchise will hit bookstores in the fall of 2011. It'll be called "Uncharted: The Fourth Labyrinth," and it'll be penned by author Christopher Golden, who has produced such titles as "The Ferryman," "Strangewood," "The Gathering Dark," and a bunch of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" tales. The summary for the "Uncharted" book, which was provided by Del Rey Publishing, reads:
"Nathan Drake will embark on an all-new, original, action-packed adventure-in search of a secret that will put him on the trail of the legendary labyrinth of Daedalus, and take him from the ruins of Crete to a secret crypt deep in the heart of China!"
Yeah, we know what you're thinking, but forget it. A spokesperson clarified that the novel will be a "standalone adventure, intended to not impact the continuity of the game stories" and it's "not necessarily a prequel or a sequel." Well, that's all right. At least it might get the fans to read something, which nobody seems to do anymore. This type of book isn't my thing, really, but it should still be great for fans of both the awesome game series and action/adventure stories.
Great news, I have been looking for another great read. I have always been impressed with anything Uncharted, and even the first game.
Perhaps it will encourage some who had no inclination to read novels, to read more novels after reading this one? That can't be a bad thing. Reading is never a bad thing. Ever.
Truer words have not been spoken in this neighbourhood. Nothing can beat the visuals from a good book.
But I've always been sceptical of books like these, being spin-offs of a large brand. Movies, tv-series, games or whatever. Like the zillion Star Trek and Star Wars books out there… They may be good for all I know, but I can't help but thinking that if you got a good story – and you're a good writer – it should be able to stand on it's own feet.
That sounds like a great storyline, they should implement it as a massive DLC piece while we wait for Uncharted 3 🙂
I'll pick up a copy.
ive never finished reading a book, but il give this a try
That's sad.
I will be picking this one up for sure 🙂
Meh…unless it's in cooperation and/or approved by ND I have no intrest. Just basically using Uncharted's name to bring in more readers, think I'll pass.
Not really my thing but I agree that it's good if it gets people to read for once. Though now I can't make fun of the Halo books as much.
Bethesda, if you need a Fallout novel I'm your man.
Does anybody know if this book will have trophies?
yeah but they are just paper ones. Best trophy in Heavy Rain was the origami though 🙂
Oh Mr Gooooolden. Daedalus is an alien from outer space. Not a labyrinth.
Are you serious?
Daedalus was the Greek artisan who built the Labyrinth where the Minotaur that Theseus had to kill lived… A alien? Really?
Hans Castorp
Karosso, he's talking about Daedalus in Resistance 2. lol.
Even so, the origin of the Chimera has never been stated. We don't know that they were aliens… yet.
Big A## ships is enough to convince me Lol.
True lawless, people just kind of assume that they are though. Probably wrongly.
Ha, an Uncharted novel? Could be good, could be bad. Either way, I'm not really a fan of novelisations and spin-offs. I think writers are better off crafting their own worlds and characters.
Peace.
word
"Nathan Drake will embark on an all-new, original, action-packed adventure-in search of a secret that will put him on the trail of the legendary labyrinth of Daedalus, and take him from the ruins of Crete to a secret crypt deep in the heart of China!"
now thats the perfect story for uncharted 3!
i just hope they link the characters better this time, and less typical hollywood cliche BS!
you cant just throw in 2 new characters and not introduce who they are, there history and how they know the main character.
It would be a good story for Uncharted 3, but think of how many other areas they could explore: The catacombs of Rome, The Pyramids of Giza, The Hanging Gardens of Babylon, Atlantis, The Garden of Eden, maybe they could bring it to Australia and have something buried under Uluru :P. There are dozens, if not hundreds of legendary places and treasures to explore.
Uncharted is supposed to be about the typical Hollywood cliches. That is what Drake's Fortune was built upon. That being said, I think that they did a fine job in introducing Chloe and Flynn. They could have been fleshed out a bit further, but that would have taken away the mystique and the questioning nature. Why does everything have to be in absolutes with you?
Peace.
labyrinth of Daedalus would be the best because its shrouded in mystery, and something ive always been interested in.
garden of eden is biblical, not a good idea to stray into that era, not unless you want the extremists hurling sh*t at ya…….
atlantis is a underwater city, your going to have a whole game underwater?
the characters in uncharted 2 were the worst part of the game, there thrown in there with no back story, no history no explanation on who they are or what they have to do with this.
its like you go on a mission and a alien falls out of the sky and decides to help you on your quest.
