It's true. If you rush things, nobody wins. …but we still wish we had a bit more info.
Evidently, we can speculate all we want concerning a Warhawk follow-up, but Lightbox Interactive isn't ready to talk just yet. According to what studio boss Dylan Jobe has said, we don't have an official confirmation but at least the game is making "absolutely fantastic progress." This update came via his personal Twitter page, and he continued by adding a bit of elaboration:
"We know our fans and the media are very interested in getting an update on what we're working on and I can't wait to show it, but we don't want to show it before its ready!"
"Our industry shows its games too early a lot of the time and we are not going to make that mistake. We're really doing some new and exciting stuff and simply put, it all just takes time and we won't rush it. Player's deserve games that aren't rushed. Period."
Can't disagree with that. Jobe went a step further and thanked Sony for not pressing Lightbox to finish the project: "And I am so thankful that Sony is giving us the time we need to make it really wicked and it will all be worth it! Your patience is much appreciated!" Okay, we all like to assume the mystery game is Starhawk , a space-situated follow-up to Warhawk , and for now, we'll just keep assuming. But we're definitely excited to learn more!
He's making a good point. You spend all kinds of time and effort coming up with something that people are really going to enjoy. Show it off too early and your ideas are stolen or quickly shoveled into an inferior product making your great ideas look retarded.
"quickly shoveled into an inferior product making your great ideas look retarded."
Peter Molyneaux anybody?
While it's true we gamers are often an impatient bunch I gotta respect their decision. I hate when something is announced and even has a trailer before anybody has even set fingers on keyboard to begin development. (Ahem Square Enix)
agree 100%! BTW, what's the new pic of?
I have decided to champion the new Devil May Cry design for Dante simply because it is opposed so heavily and I am in a "deal with it" mood. 🙂
I'm sorry…I just see a beaten-up junkie.
oh yeah? Deal with it 🙂
Can't deal with it…. D: fml

HA, I was right…
I was opposed to the Cole redesign, this one I like and it makes sense.
i see Rihanna after the beat'n up with cris brown…
LOL
Well, he makes a very good point. Take a look at some projects that were announced three, four years, or more, before release. They get hyped to the sky, then fail to deliver. I'm really glad that they're taking the time to deliver a title that they seriously believe will not disappoint. Hope they are rewarded for this mentality.
On the other hand, if this is indeed a follow-up to Warhawk, I hope it has a single-player component to it. If not, well… It's a no-go zone for me… Unless I get around to hooking my PS3 up. Then it simply becomes another exclusive to add to my collection. 😀 Gotta reward Sony.
Peace.
Not long ago the Gearbox Bossman revealed why Aliens: Colonial Marines is taking so long–the game was announced before development began.
I appreciate this guy's stance.
who said you have to "show" it?
you could at least tell us what genre its in.
well, i guess its better to stay quiet till its ready than to speak way too early.
than you end up with max payne 3, LA Noire, Agent and FF Vs XIII!
5+ years since all were announced and we have seen so little on them!
we know more about resistance 3 a game which was announced a few months ago, than we do about games that were announced 5+ years ago!
R*, $E, pull your fat fingers out, get off that office chair and show us some of these god dam games!!!!!!!!!
i dont understand how R* do it, there one of the industries biggest studios, yet they take the longest to release there games.
if it was up to them we would get 1 game per year, instead of 1 per week.
Cool can't wait to see what it is
If it's a space combat game, I am soooo there! 🙂 I used to love Colony Wars on the PS1 and that genre is really missing in the current gen.
I, too, loved Colony Wars. I have the original discs of the entire series, but I would love for Sony to release the series to PSN. Actually, release all those Psygnosis games:
Colony Wars
Colony Wars: Red Sun
Colony Wars: Vengeance
G-Police
Shipwreckers
Krazy Ivan
ODT
Codename Tenka
Rollcage
Every time I read âStarhawk,â I'm reminded of the Intellivision game.
