The PSN can always use more great downloadable games. And as time goes on, developers are capable of delivering even more size and quality in a tidy digital package.
The latest announcement comes from Curve Studios; it's called Explodemon and it'll enjoy an exclusive Network release this winter. Detailed at the PlayStation Blog and described as an "action/platformer," the game appears to be a fast-paced, colorful, and (hopefully) highly entertaining adventure. Sorta makes us miss the old days; the gameplay trailer shown consists of puzzle solving and…well, what appears to be an exploding character. Explodemon is "prone" to exploding but it actually comes in handy during this particular quest, which features 12 "huge levels," a deep control system, some intense combat, special abilities, and comic-book style cut-scenes. And you know, they say they've been working on this game for 5 years, so…um…if it doesn't live up to expectations, everyone's gonna be unhappy. But we won't put that much pressure on them; besides, the game looks good and has the potential to be great.
Whenever we get finalized release details – including a price tag – we'll let you know.

Any details on the gameplay? wow, 5 years. good thing it escaped development limbo.
Well…uh…there's a whole gameplay trailer through the link in the article.
Is that what that blue text is in the article? I thought it was just for decoration.
oops sorry went a little color blind for a moment there
I've been looking forward to this game.
And before anyone starts with the "this looks like a ripoff of 'Splosion Man on XBLA" crap, this was in development before 'Splosion Man (or development at least started at the same time).
When someone mentions 'Splosion Man in the comments, one of the guys at Curve Studios has this to say:
"Regarding 'Splosion Man, there's no influence at all; it seems like it's that classic case of the same idea being developed by different people at the same time. An almost-finished prototype version of Explodemon was entered into the Independent Games Festival in 2008, before 'Splosion Man had ever been announced, so our basic design was locked down way before we even knew 'Splosion Man existed." http://goo.gl/SDZO
Looks like fun but 5yrs? I can see someone lashing something like this together in a couple of days with LBP2 lol
sorta a bit looks like megaman as the slide and dash animation looks a bit the same. but yeah, who's preventing some genius at LBP2 from creating the same game? (granted no dash or slides)
