LucasArts Details Force Unleashed II Game Improvements

We weren't too crazy about Star Wars: The Force Unleashed , but we've been hearing a lot of good things about the sequel.

Take, for instance, all the new enhancements detailed over at the PlayStation Blog . "Star Wars" fans should definitely give it a thorough read; LucasArts has worked hard to make The Force Unleashed II a more technically sound and overall complete experience. The game comes out today and the developers want you to know how hard they've worked to make the follow-up to 2008's popular title even more fulfilling: this adventure is "all about identity and searching for the truth," plus the gameplay improvements the team has made. The targeting system is now more "user-friendly," the camera system – which was a little wonky in the original – has been overhauled so we get "a better view of the action," and we'll now have the benefit of "insanely intense boss battles in spectacle, size, and scale."

They also say they've "created new gameplay scenarios that weren't possible while making the first game." Heck, the game starts out with one long freefall that should put you on the edge of your seat. LucasArts has also implemented a new Challenge Mode, which allows you to play several fun mini-games that will help you gain power as a Jedi. You can even unlock neat stuff like new costumes, cinematics and lightsaber crystals. Finally, besides the gameplay improvements and additions, you can expect sharper and more refined visuals:

"Gameplay enhancements aside, I would say the biggest strides we made while making Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 were to our graphics and rendering engine. As you can tell from gameplay footage, this game is simply gorgeous-looking! Having built the sequel with most of the people that helped create the original Star Wars: The Force Unleashed was a huge deal. What that meant when it came to making Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II was that our content creators were able to request refinements to the tools that would ultimately help them create a much more polished-looking and better playing game than the first."

Well, we're certainly hopeful. The sequel should indeed be a great deal better than the first, and as a result, the fans ought to be happy.
