Back To The Future Platforms, Details, Making Of Video

It's a classic movie franchise and for the first time, it might finally get a quality video game adaptation.

Telltale Games has announced the intended platforms and estimated release dates for Back to the Future: The Game . Right now, we only know the PC and Mac versions will release in December with the price of $24.95, and PlayStation 3 and iPad versions will follow soon after. The game picks up shortly after the events of the third film, and the story will take place across 5 episodes, with a new installment scheduled to release every month after the first arrives.

Telltale has created the project in collaboration with Universal Partnerships & Licensing and the trilogy's co-creator and co-writer, Bob Gale. It's good timing, too, because we're about to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the legendary movie series; the "Back to the Future 25th Anniversary Trilogy" will launch on October 26 in both DVD and Blu-Ray formats. Said Dan Connors, Telltale CEO:

"We’re very excited to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Back to the Future franchise with a completely new adventure. It’s been an amazing experience to be part of reuniting Marty McFly and Doc Brown on their continuing quest. Back to the Future fans will have a great time helping to control the integrity of the space-time continuum."

You can see a brief making-of video at the game's official site , where both Bob Gale and Christopher Lloyd talk about the process. Heck, this game is probably worth it just for Lloyd's voice as Doc Brown but don't forget, Telltale makes quality products. Their resume includes stuff like Sam & Max , Tales of Monkey Island and Wallace & Gromit , so they seem well-suited to this sort of project.

The first two movies were really sweet back in the day and it was cool to see those two on stage at the Scream awards but, like with Ghostbusters, I have no interest in a modern game adaptation.

Telltale certainly has an impressive resume. If anyone can make an entertaining BttF game it would be them. I just wish they'd drop the "The Game" part of the title. It's getting old.

I dont know, can the voice actor replacement of MJF capture the essence of Marty and BTTF? I'm not sure if that will work, considering other replacement actors have failed to do so..

That happened with Die Hard Trilogy 2 on the PSX, McClane sounded like a cowboy instead of a New York cop…
