PlayStation Move is off to a running start and while its retail performance in North America is decent, it's flying off the shelves in Europe.
According to various sources, including SCEE boss Andrew House, Sony has already sold over 1.5 million Move units in Europe. This may or may not result in shortages across the region; one source says Sony is struggling to keep up , as they've been forced to up the production capacity. Amazon DE, the German branch of the online retailer, doesn't have much to offer (mostly just third-party options for Move), and we've heard reports that brick-and-mortar European stores are running out of supplies. On the other hand, it apparently isn't difficult to nab at Amazon UK, where they've got a Move Starter Pack combined with 17% savings. Right now, it sort of depends on where you are in Europe. As for North America, we still don't have an exact number but most analysts are predicting a number between 400,000 and 500,000; several sources said Move had sold 300,000 within the first couple weeks of availability.
We're just keeping an eye on Move stock; it really needs to be on store shelves for the holiday season and the increased demand – which Sony may or may not have anticipated – could impact availability. You got yours yet?
1.5 million!? Damn! I didn't expect that at all. I figured it wouldn't hit that until the holiday season.
People are sheep, release anything new and they will eat it up. The real test will be a year from now.
I expected it, but not just in Europe.
The USA is sure turning into 360 territory.
UGH.
What are you guys talking about???
Move would have sold way more than it did in NA if there we enough supplies.
ALL the futureShops in Canada are totally sold out on move controllers…
Been like that for 2 weeks.
We sold 200 controllers within 5 days… Thats huge for 1 store.
So no I don't think NA is getting 360ized. The demand is just too great for the stocks sony had anticipated…. Guess they thought Europe needed more.
Anyway here in Canada people are smelling Kinect as a gimmick way more than move because it lacks support to any previous games and is only advertised here with kinect adventure crap so far…. lol

Only 8 downvotes? Weak.
I'm still waiting on buying the Move. I'm still not sure if I want to invest $100 on motion control.
That game Tumble is awesome with motion controls.
Ill tell you the same thing I tell most costumers…
You mean … you are getting a crazy precise controller with lithium rechargeable batteries, a game and camera for ONLY 100$.
Plus just add an extra control for 49.99 and you are all set for multiplayer or an improved single player experience!!!
This is nothing compared to buying a Wii (210$), an extra controller and nunchuck (85$) A recharge kit (30$) XD Total: 325$ plus tax
( Because, yes,I consider the wii to be nothing more than an add-on to a 360 or ps3… Just like the move. But at least you get HD, precise games and potential with move)
So yeah… I think 100$ is very cheap for what you get. Heck an ipod shuffle is min 150$ XD

I do agree that the Move is cheap, even with an additional $50 controller for more 'movement'. However, if I did buy it, and I would be spending $150, then I would have to pass on games such as Castlevania, GT5, and etc. (Plus, on top of the $150 I would feel the need to buy a Move game which would push the price to $200)
Although I would really enjoy playing Heavy Rain with Move, and Tumble looks excellent, something in my head tells me that I need to wait for a few more months. Perhaps around Christmas. 🙂
I want one really badly, unfortionitly I'm a broke high school student.
lmao sammeee, have to wait untill christmas before i get mine.
only game i can afford over the next 2 months is GT5.
But glad to see move doing so well, add my 1 to that 1.5mil list shortly ;).
i might be getting mine this coming weekend. Yeehaw!
It's good stuff, but the games are limited to a degree.
yeah, but there are some that do interest me now. Heavy Rain (wanna play it again), MAG (when I get over my MoH CoD playing hours,' I'll get that), Killzone 3 (next year baby!) and The Fight.
But yeah its still limited tho 🙁
i agree with godsman, tumble is really fun and a very impressive show of the tech. ive also been playing mag with move and its hard as hell but a lot of fun to mess around with. it is a really fun alternative to the ds3. honestly if i didnt have a daughter wanting eyepet i might not have gotten it though. since i do and i did, i really enjoy having it.
No wonder there's only a bunch of charge stations kicking around here. I had to make signals to the… non english cashier. "The diiildoooo. The diiildoooo that goes in here."
It was awkward.
You bought a charging station? lol
Kevin Butler just made it look like so much fun!!
Wow, 1.5m already. Good job Sony I was really hoping it would do really well and it looks like it's doing pretty well.
I'm not sure on picking one up just yet bit come Christmas I might be getting one, it looks like a lot of family fun and that is what Christmas is all about. Christmas demand is going to be crazy, come on Sony I want to see stacks of boxes of both move and the PS3 because once the holidays are through there won't be any left.
PS I will be playing move with friends and family but once there gone my time will be devoted to GT5, after we do a few split screen races. NASCAR, go-karts and rally racing oh baby what fun. GT5!
That's amazing. I honestly wasn't expecting there to be that number of sales until next year at least. I just assumed that it wouldn't have the same appeal as the Wii, but I may have been mistaken…
Now, if Sony can keep up the advertising and supply, they might be able to make something out of it. I wonder how it'll fare when the Eyet- sorry, Kinect launches.
Peace.
"You got yours yet?" – I got mine! 🙂 And while I am impressed with the precision and general "feeling" of Move (awesome ergonomics of the sticks, they almost "melt" into the hand!) at the same time I do understand Ben's scepticism if this really is something for the hardcore gamer, or will end up being a "party game" item for the casual players.
Either way I can hardly see anything wrong in the ps3 becoming more attractive also for that group of players.
got mine but its hard to find in MI…at least where i live
Wether deliberate or not, this works out well for teh Sony peepz. Create a lack of product and a huge demand just before the holidays then POW all at once.
"I took the liberty of milking your cow for ya, took a while to get her goin' but then POW all at once."
"We don't have a cow… we have a bull."
ha ha ha ewww… was LV milking the " cow "

I got my Move on release day. Being back-ordered is starting to be lame. Seriously, just meet and exceed demand so people can enjoy the PS3.
Now I have to get my "Move" on with my family and friends now.
I ordered 2 more motion controllers and got them today. One of them came from Amazon. They had a two week waiting period. When it shipped, I checked their website and they're still listed as backordered.
My daughter finally got to play and although she's only eleven, she made me look like a little school girl in Sports Champions. She blew all my scores away and barely let the AI score any points.
With the first games being as entertaining as they are, I don't see us having to worry about whether or not we'll get great games for Move.
apparently the PoP collection will have move support, so this is really bad timing!
hope it does, that would be so cool being able to replay one of the best platforming games with the move.
wish dead space extraction would hurry up and release, got it on wii literally 2 days before EA announced it was coming to the ps3.
finished the first level, and now i dont want to continue because it will spoil when it releases on PSN
And the bully know as M$ now feels that it has to throw the weight of it's money around once again, this time in order just to sell their Kinect..
