What they don't want is something like the 5-hour campaign in Medal of Honor (regardless of how good that game really is, in our estimation). If they're not about to play online, the gamer wants his money's worth, yes? Well, you don't have to worry about Platinum Games dedicating extra resources to multiplayer in Vanuqish , because the game doesn't have a multiplayer option. So, are the single-player fans going to be happy? According to UGDB.com , Sega producer Keith Dwyer says the campaign in Vanquish will take around 10 hours to complete:
"The campaign for Vanquish can take 10 or so hours to complete, but you are no means done, said Keith, "There are additional unlocks to increase replay value, such as the Challenge modes that unlock after you complete chapters. These Challenge sections are quite hard, they require a lot of knowledge about general game mechanics, as well as enemy weaknesses, and weapon effectiveness."
Vanquish is doing quite well on the critical front thus far; reviews of 8s and high 8s are starting to fall everywhere (including the recent 8.5 at IGN), and we've been excited about this particular title for months. Here's hoping it turns out to be a must-play; our review is coming soon…

I got the game while at the New Vegas midnight launch, Finally got to it and between deaths and actual advancement it took me about 90 minutes to complete Act 1. So, maybe someone more adept at shooters than me playing on normal could have done it faster. Halo ODST had about 5 hours of actual gameplay and nothing really new to offer, GI gave that a 9.25. So, between that, their constant insistence that MS puts on better E3s than Sony, and in the top 200 GsOAT, ranking the genre defining LittleBigPlanet one number above, lol, Crackdown, they lost the bulk of their cred with me a while ago.
Unless you're playing really slow Enslaved is more like an 8 hour game. I know, I beat it in about that time =)
And I wasn't necessarily racing through it.
Uncharted 2, though, that's a good 12 hours or so.
Regardless, I picked up Vanquish last night with New Vegas and am excited to finally finish finals and spend some time with both. A short campaign? Very well, any DLC coming?
The reviews I have read have suggested a play time of around 7 hours but seem to suggest that those 7 hours are all sorts of awsome, with one mad set piece after another
It's to bad that we couldn't get large group of gamers like 50 million to say stuff you're MP. Then close your doors or man up and make some SP games that mean something and actually take time to complete and you feel good when your done. The downfall of gaming came with broadband.
10 hours really still doesn't seem like much even to me for a decent game. It's terrible that I might actually get excited at the thought of a decent 1st/3rd person shooter only having that much nowadays.
There are exceptions, but most games, modern warfare included lack in the quality department aswell, unlike say Max Payne.
