I was a little leery; maybe even downright suspicious. And I wasn't the only one. But hey, we can admit that – for the time being, anyway – we were wrong.
PlayStation Move appears to be doing very, very well on sales charts in North America and Europe. While the NPD doesn't report exact sales numbers anymore, Sony has been pleased with their September performance, and they specifically mentioned their freshly released motion sensing technology. No US numbers but SCEE boss Andrew House told Industry Gamers that Move had "moved" 1.5 million units in Europe already! And here's SCEA Sr. Director of Corporate Communications Patrick Seybold's statement:
"There's no question we're experiencing incredible momentum behind the PS3 this year and this holiday is already stacking up to be another great season of innovation and family fun for consumers. PlayStation Move is performing extremely well at retail and we'll have plenty of new games coming to keep consumers busy this holiday from our first party studios and publishing partners, such as SingStar Dance, The Fight, and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11."
"With a growing array of content options on PlayStation Network, including today's announcement that Netflix will be natively accesible on all PS3s, we are confident that the PS3 will be the console of choice for many families this holiday and beyond."
At last check, Move had already crossed the 300,000 sales mark in the US and if that number has reached 500,000 since then, total Move sales have topped 2 million in about 1 month's time…and it hasn't even launched in Japan yet. Well, gee…guess it's pretty popular right now, huh?
Sounds pretty darn popular, but I'm gonna be fashionably late to this party when there is a stack of great quality games for it.
xmas for me most def
arent you late to most parties? 6 years to get a psp? thats not so fashinable lol jk
You don't think so? I got a stack of games at ten bucks a piece that beg to differ.
Although the hand cramping would have been less frequent 6 years ago.
I'm with you on that. I want to check out that Sorcery game. And I'm hoping you can use it to draw stuff in LBP2's creator mode. Also don't feel bad about waiting for a PSP for so long. I just got one late last year.
I'm with World on this one! I fully plan to invest eventually. At the time being, the games that go along with Move are games I would want to play WITH someone else… which means I would have to buy two… which is expensive.
Honestly, it's just the price tag. Some day I'll have 4 for playing with the wife, brother-in-law, and cousin-in-law. Right now we're sticking to CoD, ModNation, and Trivial Pursuit for our 4 player split-screen action.
I plan to have everything Playstation has to offer at some point, cuz that's just how I roll.
Ahh, things can only get better for Sony and for the devolpers aswell.
World,
Yup, that's how "WE" roll!!!!
Not yet, not enough games to push me into it.
Me too, but I think Killzone 3 and SOCOM might finally sway me.
I am glad to here that the Move is doing very well. Cannot wait for the tech and the games to mature.
Sony itself is pretty popular right now too. Netflix App. Free movie weekends. GoogleTV. I just read an article stating Sony and Google jointly backing emmision goals in the EU on GreenPeace. That is a good way for any company to position itself in the global market. It seems that this partnership is beginning to show more substance.
I wasn't all that interested in Move until I found out it's going to be supported in the new Harvest Moon. That might just do it for me…
They are making a harvest moon for ps3? I'm intrigued.
Yeah, and you play as a… boy/girl hybrid.
I love using the move it's great, can't wait to see more games for it, but we're having tons of fun with Eyepet and heavy rain.
They should be, I've been trying to get two more controllers and they are sold out everywhere. Even amazon is sold out
Not bad.
I am really Moved by the sales figures.
And Sony can add +1 into those figures soon as I should be getting my Move & Navigator(already have the PSEye) in the 1st quarter when one of my big checks come in.
Toys R Us (USA) is having a Buy2Get1Free on all games and accessories this week. You can even mix and match between accessories and games, meaning all 3 don't have to be one or the other. Saturday would be the last day. Might be a good time to pick up some Move paraphernalia for those interested.
Such a good deal and yet such a dissapointment to find that they are sold out of them, as are every toys r us within 200 miles of me. This is as bad as the sixaxis shortage they had when the ps3 first came out
This is the second best deal they have on Move accessories and games. I'm glad I got in on the deals during release week.
cook more books! i don't believe…
now I got to be moved with move w/ family and friends.
I think the 300,000 sales sources were referring to worldwide, not US alone:
"At last check, Move had already crossed the 300,000 sales mark in the US"
impressive considering the only game worthwhile getting for it released 8 months ago!
Keep it up, everyone, and spread the news.
Hmmm…it seems that Move is being received pretty well. I've gotta admit that I thought it was gonna be straight bullsh..! I've changed recently for one reason. Living in FLorida I'm gonna take up golf. When I saw Paula Creamer demonstrating the move with the Tiger Woods golf game I was impressed. They sure picked the right person to demonstrate. What a hot body on her. Anyway apparently Move is so precise it can help your golf game. So I'm gonna give it a shot around Christmas.

The John Daly ProStroke game looks even better. You should check it out. From what I've seen, it is alot more technical with it's swing.
Wow, just checked Amazon. Sold out there and Target. Plus, third party retailers are selling it for 69.99!
Glad I got my 2 controllers on launch day.
I am impressed with the amount sold, I was betting it would struggle. I can imagine that come Christmas sales will explode. I know I will attribute to the sales then.
I am still having fun with the Move I bought, it works well with Tumble, RE5 Gold Edition, and its awesome with Heavy Rain. The real Move title I am waiting for is Killzone 3.
Ok …Move is kicking ass. When is Kinect coming out?
What's taking Kinect so long? Does it still not work?
Do u have a 360, if u don't who cares?
I care, I'm interested in technology of all kinds and I like to read up on it and compare and contrast. Stop being a douchehat.
Who cares? The Move Kinect battle is one that we've all been anxiously awaiting. Haven't you been reading this blog. According to the sales numbers Move is a hit so far. I want to see if Kinect is a hit or falls on its a..
yah ur right. Haven't been catching up.
Glad to see Playstation Move is doing it's thing. When Japan comes into the scene it's SO on! For moment my Move products are just hanging out waiting for some hot triple A titles to make it a must play.
