Alundra, Arc The Lad Venture Onto PSN This Week

Some weeks ago, we told you there was sufficient evidence to support the idea of two great PS1 classics heading to the PSN.

Now, they've been confirmed: MonkeyPaw Games has announced they'll be bringing both Alundra and Arc the Lad to the Network, which ought to make old-school RPG fans happy. Unfortunately, Working Designs (the original localizing publisher that made such titles available in the US back in the day) won't be handling any part of this digital distribution, so forget about fancy extras. Working Designs was well known for handing out little collectible figurines, cool cloth maps and soundtracks with their releases, if you didn't know. Anyway, the two classics in question will become available this week – October 12 – for the standard price of $5.99. MonkeyPaw also made mention of promotion via "historical swag from the titles' original releases." …we're not entirely sure what that means but we're assuming we'll find out soon enough. We do know they won't show up in the PS1 Imports Store because they were both localized and released here; so regular installments they will be.

If you never had the pleasure, I definitely recommend both, especially Alundra . It could almost be called a Zelda for the PlayStation and remains one of my all-time favorites.

I used to like the idea of PSX games on PSN, but ever since I picked up the GoW Collection and see how awesome the Sly and ICO/SotC collections are, I'm thinking they should have re-released the PSX games in HD with trophies instead of just porting them.

great idea, but proberly wont happen though. they dont make enough money off ps1 remakes to make an HD version. plus ps1 games as ports works for both PS3 and PSP,
as mush as i would like a dragon quest 8 or FF7 or 9 or vagrant story remake, it proberly wont happen

If all goes right, we should expect to see a ton of older & localized games being brought over by MonkeyPaw, that's exactly the reason they started up their company.

So I'm glad to see they're getting the work, and hopefully tons more in the future too.

Actually never played Alundra, and didn't like Arc. Interesting how people know that the lack of RPGs this gen is getting to the fans so they know to bring them to PSN first.

I have only played Alundra 2 and loved it, i couldn't get the first one or find it but now is my chance to play it when it comes out.

I can't wait to get my hands on it though.

Still have my original copies of Alundra 1 and 2. Never finished either one. Guess I need to make time to go back and play those PS1 classics.

Now if they would just make Ogre Battle downloadable. My copy is too scratched now preventing me from playing the whole way through 🙁

It's funny how life works. I've been waiting for games such as Alunda (Honestly never played Arc the Lad though) to come out on the PS Store. When they finally become available my PS3 dies, again. Stupid yellow light. A year after I got the damn thing fixed too. Looks like I'm springing for a slim sometime this year, too bad I'll be without my PS3 for awhile though. Anyways, keep the PS1 classics coming! I'll be picking em up when I'm able.

Listen all,

Alundra is one of the most rewarding games in existence and rivals Zelda easily.

It's everything i miss about games.

GET IT.

Alundra is quite amazing, too bad I got it as an ISO for an emulator on my laptop. But I only did that because I thought since Working Designs were no more, it wasn't possible to get this game as a disc (i don't eBay), nor would appear on the PSN, so I got it as an ISO. I wish I hadn't, though.

Alundra is one of my all-time favorite games and I will definitely pick up Arc the Lad as I have always meant to try that series out.
