Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit ought to be one of the more important games for the holiday period.
And if this gameplay footage taken from GameFest 2010 is any indication, it should also be a big hit with the critics as well. It's always difficult to discern visual quality with such videos but you can certainly gauge fluidity, presentation and a few other factors. In the gameplay below, you'll see a police version of a Nissan 370Z flying down the road at night.
The cop crashes early – very Burnout -esque, no? – but moves on to score a takedown or two, including one up against the rail. It looks to be a ton of fun, even if the damage modeling and crashes aren't exactly realistic (hit a truck head-on at that speed and both vehicles basically disintegrate). But so what? If you want authenticity, there's always Gran Turismo 5 and the new SHIFT , if you have to stick with the NFS franchise.
Related Game(s): Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit
Need For Speed Hot Pursuit is going to be a ton of fun. Whether it be single player, or with friends/family. This game online should be a ton of fun. It's on my list for sure.
most wanted was alot of fun for me, i hope this one turns out to be as fun when the cops chase yah
There's always hope.
Bur I've heard you can't modify cars mate.
That's one big negative for me.
I agree. Most Wanted was the most exciting game for cop chases, imo. The music only made it more intensive and dramatic too.
I enjoyed Burnout: Paradise but I ultimately became bored of it due to its open-world layout. This new Need For Speed is looking to be in the same boat so I'll definitely wait for it to drop in price. I'd love to see Criterion return to its Burnout 3: Takedown days.
GT5 and Hot Pursuit on the same day, which one to buy phewwww…
GT5 is November 2. NFS is Novembe 16, I think.
I meant same month 🙂
Get them both and never sleeeeeeep!
Just remember, if you buy NFS used you will have to pony up the extra 10.00 for access to the online portions of the game. Say thank you EA!!!!!!!!!!!
Say thank you to GameStop and gamers who don't know how to shop first.
I am still going to buy this game, but not right away. GT5 will occupy to much gaming time.
The trailer looks cool, but the lack of storyline has me slightly disappointed.
I don't think the original Hot Pursuit had much of a story line either, did it?
The first two Hot Pursuits had no storyline except race and outrun the cops. And you know what? That's how it should be.
EA makes TVs?
will it be move compatible?
LOL at the first wreck. Theres more damage in the first takedown, which is substantially softer than the police wreck at the beginning. I dont expect realism, but come on, you can do better than that.

Looks like alot of fun to play, Haven't enjoyed running from the cops since NFS: Most Wanted and Carbon.
One question Ben, I can't seem to find the answer anywhere.
Can you modify cars?
Probably, but nowhere to the level you can in a simulator like GT5. Just a guess.
Thanks boss.
Ya know, I think this is the only gaming site where the journalist actually acknowledges its readers.
Respect.
I don't want to be the bearer of bad news, but NFS Hot Pursuit from Criterion isn't likely to have a feature for modifying cars. The original Hot Pusuit didn't either. Hot Pursuit back then was about running hot, stock supercars, and this version may want to stick to that root.
Also, just incase anyone's still wondering, cockpit looks to be vacant right now.
Aaah man.
Thanks for the help though.
Man…this game looks hella nice. If it is a fun and addictive as Most Wanted was…I getting this with GT5. Both of my urges are satisfied this way.
If it's anything like MW, it is a must buy.
really looking forward to this, i hope it has racing wheel support.
found a racing wheel for 100 bucks in JBHIFI today, but the guy could not confirm if GT5 would work with it or not so im not getting it.
not going to spend 100 bucks, than find out it wont work on GT5 and cant take it back.
tis the problem with racing wheels, there so dam expensive and 99% of games dont support allot of them!
If you know the model # of the steering wheel, there's no harm in trying to send off a message! For GT5 compatibility, try through your local playstation website portal. For NFS: Hot Pursuit, try the Criterion Games website for contact info.
