Treyarch Fully Embraces 3D For Call Of Duty: Black Ops

Well damn, maybe I have another reason besides GT5 to get the 3D glasses for my TV this year.

If you're expected to be one of the most popular entertainment releases of all time, it would make sense that you launch with up-to-date technology. Activision has announced that Treyarch's Call of Duty: Black Ops , set to launch on November 9, will be 3D compatible. From day one, the hotly anticipated shooter will be supported by 3D-ready HDTVs for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and PC players can enjoy the extra immersion via NVIDIA's 3D Vision-Ready technology. Apparently, this came about only recently, as Treyarch boss Mark Lamia said development of stereoscopic 3D "began as an R&D project" but once they saw what 3D did for their game, they just had to do it. And they aren't skimping on the 3D, either; every last one of the game's available modes will support 3D, so you can get the extra visual dimension in both the single-player campaign and multiplayer action. Heck, even the recently confirmed zombies will be in 3D.

So the closer we get to the holidays, the more incentive you have to ante up and join the next level of video game viewing. Right?
