Although the PlayStation 3 version suffered – a mistake the developers likely won't make twice – Bayonetta remains one of the most critically acclaimed action titles of the generation.
And for all the fans hoping for a sequel, Platinum Games has hinted that it's a definite possibility. In speaking to Eurogamer , studio co-founder Atsushi Inaba said they "would love to make Bayonetta 2 ," and they do plan to embark on the project "when the time is right." Inaba is producing the team's stylish new shooter, Vanquish , and was responding to questions involving a Tweet from fellow co-founder Hideki Kamiya. When Kamiya was asked if there would be a sequel, the DMC creator simply replied, "I believe so." But Inaba has also clarified that "there is no concrete plan or schedule" they can talk about; it's just a vague plan that should come together in the future.
"But Bayonetta is definitely a special IP for us. We loved creating that game. We think it was a really good game. We would love to make a sequel to it when the time is right. That's all we can say."
Bayonetta averages 90% in review scores based on the GameRankings tally, even though the PS3 version lags a little behind at 86%. Vanquish appears to be almost identical on both platforms, though, so if Platinum did bring back the leggy vixen, PS3 owners probably wouldn't be left out in the cold. Just a guess.
Related Game(s): Bayonetta
It's gonna be awesome for another Bayonetta, here's hoping that it will appear at TGS 2011.
Another reason to look forward to TGS 2011.
I couldn't get into Bayonetta at all. I didn't care for the demo and then I rented the actual game and I still didn't care for it.
The Vanquish demo was awesome, though.
Maybe it doesn't suit your taste.
perverted taste
Only way im getting it if its a Ps3 exclusive and we all know that Aint happening
o whoa that's a close to a definition of fanboy as you can get, passing on a great game just coz it's NOT an console exclusive
No, but I can pass on the sequel due to their crappy work on the original game for the PS3.
I'd buy and play bayonetta 2. Loved the first one once you get past the campness and OTT sexual infulences its a really good competant atcion game with alot of depth. Looking forward to Vanquish too. If i'm right isnt Vanquish the last game their contract with Sega? I'd be interested to see where they go from there. I'd also like to see them try their hand at a PS3 exclusive as i reckon the talent and refreshing ideas at the studio could produce something really great and unique on PS3.
I didn't find the sexuality of the game sexy at all.
*Taps his heals together 3 times and says "there well be another Bayonetta, there well be another Bayonetta, there well be another Bayonetta"*
I believe. Do you?
How about making a good game instead of this
abomination.a good hack and slash game.btw. I
have played and finished the first one.
I hated the corny music in the game and the unfair difficulty, but this game had some entertaing gameplay and a lovable story. I would buy Bayonetta 2, I would just wait until its goes on sale…but while I'm waiting for that to happen, I would rent it to see if I wanted it in my collection. Bring on part 2.
Where is my friend frostface cuz I got two words for him: Bargain Bin!
I only played the demo and i loved it. i think the time has come to buy it.
Funny thing is, the over the topness, the cheese, the hitches and glitches of the PS3 version, none of that bothered me. It was just a 6 through and through.
Your statement ranks lower than CVG's Quantum Theory rating in my book =p
oh yeah, and here's your down thumb
Just make the PS3 the lead console this time.
I love Bayonetta but I had it on 360. Bayonetta, Dante's Inferno, Gow3 and Castlevania LoS remains 4 greatest Hack/Slash action adventure for 2010, I will still have to say.
A sequel with lag-free awesome graphics on PS3 will be exciting, hope they don't make a crappy port again, just build from bottom up directly on PS3.

The game was straight up overrated. DMC 3 wrote the book on the "over the top" brawler and Bayonetta didnt top it and never will in a sequel.
Sweet!! Can't wait for moar awful load times, screen tearing, and bad framerate! 8DDDDDD
Lets just hope Bayonetta 2 doesn't look as blurry and washed out as Vanquish does. It really bothers me.
no thanks, bayonetta is the worlds 2nd most overrated game!
GTAIV being the first, obviously!
i seriously can not see what people see in bayonetta, i mean it is a complete button masher which requires no timing, no strategy, no skill what so ever!
just mash square and triangle as fast as you can in different combination and wallah you finished the game!
yea, not exactly a recipe for GOTY!
at least in games like ninja gaiden, or DMC you need to actually time your presses, instead of mashing square constantly you need to wait till your attack makes contact than press square again otherwise you end up doing a pointless weak attack.
thats why ninja gaiden is the most popular action game, because it actually requires some strategy, some brains, some attention to detail.
not that mash square as fast as you can!

Man, you can't button mash your way through Bayonetta. Most enemies are to fast for that. Timed dodging and Witch Time are essential. There's alot of strategy in that game, especially when fighting multiple enemy types. I liked Bayonetta more than GoW3 this year. I thought GoW3 fizzled out at the end with it's nauseating backtracking and jackhammer-ham-fisted attempt at a redemption story. Bayonetta even until the end throws new gameplay mechanics and kept the -I loathe the overuse of this word nowadays- epic feel up until the end credits.
