PSXE Poll Update: Gamers Will Be Selective This Year

It's never a good idea to waste money. It's a far better idea to do the research and drop your hard-earned cash for the games you're sure to love.

And that seems to be exactly what most of the PSXE readers will be doing this holiday season. Despite the typical October/November blitz, the vast majority of our readers say they'll only be picking up between one and four titles between now and the end of the year. Only a small percentage say they'll buy more than four but thankfully, only 51 say they won't be buying any…seriously, what are you doing at a game site if you're no sort of gamer? But anyway, it's nice to see selective consumers out there, and it also proves that most people do have other things to do; they do have priorities because…um…they're like, adults, and stuff. By the way, the reason there's a Gran Turismo 5 pic here is because we keep seeing comments like, "eh, just waiting on GT5." That's cool and all but just don't forget about the other potential greats!

This week, we want to know what you think about the EA/ Medal of Honor /Taliban controversy. As reported this past week, EA buckled under the pressure and removed the Taliban reference from the multiplayer portion. Do you think this was a good move? Or is it only a good move from a business perspective? Some are calling it cowardly; others are calling it respectful. What say you?

P.S. If you have to have a big long discussion about this, please don't use the Comment section to do it; go into the forums.

Some games are worth the $60 bucks. I'll pay it with no problem for the likes of Assassins Creed, GTA, BShock,GOW,etc. The hot sure fire hits get bought at the 60$ price clip the others don't. Only sex is a better form of entertainment then gaming. By the way EA did the right thing on nixing that Taliban ish. Online gaming is global. Allowing people to game as Taliban would benefit the Taliban only. Good move EA.

Removing the Taliban is not very likely to lose them sales.

Besides, we all know they're still there.

As Shakesphere wrote in Romeo and Juliet,

"A rose by any other name
is still a rose"

Shakespeare quotes on a gaming board? Now that's a first! 😉

@WolfCrimson

Don't be annoyed. I've invested enough into theatre that I think I can quote it whenever I want. lol

@underdog
the fact that its a basic freedom you have means you can quote it whenever you want… whereas on the same note wolfcrimson can be annoyed if it pleases him to be. (intentional irony there lol)

It's not that, I'm annoyed at the fact that you had to quote someone else about something that is obvious to anyone. It's not like what you wanted to say (i.e. your point) is magic/super philosophy or something.

Geeze louise, cat-woman. Girlfriend cheat on you this morning? Wake up on the wrong side of the vindication bed? Dealing with IBS? Need some Gaviscon?

I guess I'm just having trouble understanding how someone can be annoyed by something so incredibly trivial and completely non-offensive. But hey… whatever gives your life meaning or a reason to "feel". As long as there's an emotion, I guess you are indeed alive!

@WolfCrimson

It was a mere observation. I wasn't trying to teach or call you out. lol.

No offence taken, underdog. Nah, I just don't like it when something superobvious is quoted being said by a famous person, as if that'll make your point more legit than it already is. But it's not like I'm REALLY annoyed, it's the same kind of 'annoyed' as having a housefly buzzing on the other side of the room of where you're sitting.

It's not so much that it makes my comment somehow, "more legit", but it's fun to find artistic ways of expressing one's observations… regardless of how obvious it may be. I personally find Shakesphere to be rewarding in any avenue, and I would have thought annoyance to be an emotion of opposing nature to what the observation could have as otherwise been experienced.

Instead of legitimacy, think of it as a reinforcement of thought. I think quoting Shakesphere is far less drab than simply saying, "There ain't no difference, man." Even though to some people, there is a huge difference. (And therefore not as obvious as one might assume!)
