Okay, so we weren't the biggest fans of Just Cause 2 . …but what the heck do we know?
Gamers have been going nuts in Avalanche's latest sequel for the past six months, and Square-Enix has released some pretty impressive statistics. The highlights are pretty nuts; it seems players have really latched onto the open-world insanity and can't get enough. Check out some of the more mind-blowing facts:
— 288,006,325 players have climbed a distance equivalent to over 32,500 times the height of Mount Everest.
— 570,329,283m is the combined height of each player's highest base jump, which is roughly 14 times the circumference of the Earth, or the equivalent of free-falling from the Moon one and a half times.
— The total game time of all players in Just Cause 2 is 26,118,470 hours. That's equal to 1.1 million days of playtime, or just under 30,000 years.
There's plenty more to check out; Square-Enix definitely got creative with these numbers. For our part, we have to stick to our guns and maintain that the gameplay mechanic is partially busted, but we certainly don't begrudge Just Cause 2 lovers their entertainment. Havin' a blast? Awesome. Don't really care what you're playing. We do play games for fun , yes?

Am I the only one that finds this somewhat disturbing?
Then again I'm certain that if you do something like this to any other game it will be equally disturbing. Such as (note all hypothetical) if you fused all the bullets shot in MW2 multiplayer it would probably be nearing the size of the globe. Or if you took all the pictures of the B&B Corp in MGS4 it'd probably cover a small building.

We play games for fun? When did that happen? I thought we played them so we could b*tch about stuff on PSXE 🙂
I was turned off by the Demo so I didn't bother with JC2. It's nice to know SE still has their own head up their ass about how great they must be though.
Not sure how the demo could turn you off. This game is enormous and offers so many things to do.
That's just it, its TOO big. One easy mistake and you're out in the middle of nowhere and there's nothing cool or any action for miles and miles and miles. Plus the grappling hook was a pain.
The demo's what turned me off too. I don't even think I completed it. Maybe that's the problem.
Shame on you WorldEnds. You didn't play long enough to know about the chopper extractions??
No, it was a chore after about 20 minutes.
I agree with "world" i got lost so many times, i got bored and delete it
It certainly wouldn't win any awards for graphics or story but this game was FUN! It was actually the first game I platinumed, it was just so fun to play it didnt feel like I was wasting time for trophies. The very reasonably priced dlc added some fun too.
I agree, I put more into that game than FFXIII and any other PS3 game. It's just so addictive, I spent hours just flying around and stealing planes.
75% completion. That was the doozy.
And hey, the graphics weren't too bad.
I'll be waiting for the third 🙂
Just Cause 2 is fun even while being a little repetitive. I really liked sneaking into facilities, planting explosives, and after alerting the enemy to your presence, having to fight your way out.
huh, told ya!
people love that game because unlike 99.999999999999999999% of other games its actually FUN!
simple as that!
it may be buggy as hell, it may be repetitive as hell, it may be cheesy as hell!
but no one can say its not fun stealing a flier, hooking a car too it, and using said car as a wrecking ball!
It's not buggy.
its not?
so how else would you define disappearing landscape?
I'm just waiting on a price drop 60 bucks is just to much for Just Cause 2.
Just Cause 2 has probably been the most fun game I've played this year. Yeah, the story blows but the fun factor was through the roof! I'll easily get the third whenever it is eventually released.
this is my first purchase after new vegas… well, maybe the sims 3 will be my next purchase after NV… but this game is right behind those… i rented this about a month or so ago and i can't stop thinking about it!!
this is one of those games for me, like GTA SA, where i could pop this in whenever i don't know what to play… it just offers a ton of stuff to do and to be quite honest, it's a lot better than a lot of games i've seen ben rate higher since it's release…
to each their own i guess… i just think more people should at least rent this to see what it's all about… don't let ben's review determine if your going to play it or not…
now that i know how to play this game effectively, playing the 30 minute demo is a BLAST!!! it's a nice appetizer until i get my hands on the game again…

For what you're able to do in this game, I'd say the play mechanics are FAR from busted. I don't even know where you get off saying that. If you say the camera doesn't ALWAYS cooperate then I'd agree, but "busted?" No.
Just Cause 2 is hilarious (only played the demo) and one the things i like to do is open the parachute at the last minute and crash in the ground to listen what Rico is going to say, ''oh, to close for comfort'' LOL.
288 MILLION players?!
There must be 287 Million pirate copies.
Sweet Avatar.
