Everyone is wondering how Sony's new motion control technology will fare on the sales charts and we have the first estimates.
Initially, it was reported Sony sold around 140,000 units in the first few days and according to VGChartz , there have now been over 300,000 Move hardware packages sold as of September 25. Bear in mind that it has yet to arrive in Japan – where it's set to launch on October 21 – and overall, we're talking about a few weeks span of time. They also report that Sports Champion has reached 250,000 in sales but that's a bit misleading, as it's bundled with some Move packages in North America. Hence, the 80% attachment rate shouldn't be all that surprising. That being said, it seems like the perfect game for early Move adopters, as it showcases the accuracy and responsiveness of Sony's new motion sensing system. Upcoming titles include The Fight and Sorcery ; there are already several Move-dedicated games on store shelves, but more are to come.
When more software arrives, Move will be a more sought-after item, and according to some, it could maybe use a price cut. That really depends who you talk to, though, as Microsoft's Kinect will retail for $150, so no new motion control is exactly cheap.
Depends. Most times, VGChartz is actually pretty close, from what I've seen.
But I wouldn't say the numbers are official until I see the NPD.

I've read the Move launch sales estimated by VGchartz. It's true that somethings cannot be calculated without some estimations. Such as how many Move PS3 gamers there really are. Just basing on the amount of Move controls and PSeye, you'll never find out. So VGchartz have to make some educated guesses. I don't believe it's totally accurate, but within 10-20% error I might say, which isn't bad at all.
It should be a Wikipedia guide never to use Wikipedia as a source.
Actually, Wikipedia is becoming a highly legitimate source, it's not entirely people messing with it anymore, because when it does get messed with it's generally corrected of any mistakes within the hour.
I played the Heavy Rain demo before, but I didn't quite like the controls, but after I tried the Heavy Rain Move Demo… OMG I'm in love with it now!
Does all the Move games require the Eye?
Yup
Move doesn't work in general WITHOUT the eye, so yes.
well you can get the move without the eye but the most you can do is scroll through the XMB.
Sony is watching your every "Move" with the "Eye" of judgement.
/sorry for the cheap joke
If these figures are close to true, then I believe that's a good sign that the Move is already becoming a hit with gamers.
This would be a big plus for us all as it could mean even more support.
Yeah. 300,000 in eight days of sales? Pretty damn good.
I haven't seen any games worthy of a Move purchase yet. That may change with SOCOM.
However, 300 grand isn't something to sneeze at. Those are decent numbers.
I played the demo of Time Crisis and it rocks with Move.
I'm glad sales are chugging along, I'm already seeing a much more massive push of advertising by Sony for the Move than I ever saw for the PS3 console itself.
I'm still gonna need mine a bit cheaper and some better games (C'mon 40 bones for a few sports titles?) but I'll be a Mover and Shaker sooner or later.
"Move" may do better than I thought… Looking at the "move" + Killzone 3 gameplay videos also shows how adaptable it is…
Looks awesome…
Q!
"move you"
I am happy for Sony. I might not get a move until sometime in the near-to-mid future. I am loving the commercials thew.
I hope that "Connect" thing fails big time It's so stupid.
GT5 countdown: 32 days
Im waiting for The Fight Lights Out. Got my 2 Moves!
I wonder if I can punch with just one hand if I can't afford the second dildo?
Be my guest world 🙂
Fist…err, punch away.
300K?!?!?!?! Of course it may not be official yet…BUT HOLY ****. I honestly thought it would sell something like 20k.
NOT because I think it's a bad piece of technology or something…- I mean as Sony reps said and as Kevin Butler said…it's a technology of and for the future. I just thought that gamers weren't convinced by it looking at polls on various sites and stuff.
WOW, am I glad I guessed wrong. Good job Sony!
The dildo jokes are seriously getting old.

No one should be able to make PSMove dildo jokes after seeing that LOLOL
LOL
LittleBigMidget,
LOL
I wonder how many are going to actually admit to being a beta tester.
You can get like $150 for your Wii? 😉
Wii sales are gonna tank so sell it fast.
You see? There's a market out there for more motion control gaming. I'm not that market, but it's there.
I'm thinking Killzone 3 and the gun attachment.
if you mean the battle rifle attachment instead of the red pistol looking thing then yeah. it would be cool too if you can use 2 moves one for battle rifle and one for pistol but that could get complicated.
Haven't tried it yet apparently my son has with Toystory 3 and just had a blast this weekend I'm going to try it 🙂
Nice to see the move getting the recongition it deserves and the advertising is great to see.
Uh oh, I just though of something. There is going to be a Console peripheral skirmish with many Move and Kinect sales comparisons. At least Sony got the jump this time.
impressive considering the lackluster titles available for it.
patiently waiting for SOCOM4………..
Ill get it when Time crisis and sorcerer comes out for it.
Time Crisis comes out 10/19 in the U.S.

I have the Move/Sports Champions bundle and an extra Move controller. I plan to get the navigator and maybe the recharging station. Everyone… KEEP IT UP!!!
We've got 2 Move motion controllers, 1 Nav controller, EyePet, Start the Party! and Sports Champions. Kids are loving it.
I pre-ordered my Move Starter Kit on Amazon and it's an excellent addition to the PS3. I picked up an extra Move controller and Navigation controller to go with it. I haven't had a reason to even open my Navigation controller but I'm patiently waiting for those awesome games that need it to come out.
Awesome to see that many gamers have picked up a Move! 300k+ in just a week is sweet. In a month on the shelves it has the chance of passing a million sold.
I don't think people should look down on Sports Champions numbers simply because it's bundled with the Move. It's like looking down at Duck Hunt/Super Mario Bros. or Wii Sports/Wii Resorts for being bundled with Nintendo hardware.
Rock on Sony/Playstation!

Ofcourse I only initially purchased Flight Control and Tumble, with patches on the way for games I already owned. I've been enjoying and impressed though with just that. I think move most defiantely has staying power as a useful and powerful gaming peripheral.
I think the most interesting area for it will be in the area which we can see glimpses of in Tumble, where we are being put into quite literally into the 3d space. I want to FEEL the next successor to heavy rain, 2 move, minority report style!
Oh and about vgchartz… I've never come across so many pathetic PlayStation haters on the interwebs.
Does that surprise you? The die hard 360 fans care about the sales.
I just want the great PS3 optimized games, as do the majority of folks of here.
The Move could use a better, more complete bundle and a lower price for sure. I see myself getting it sooner or later, but unless I find an awesome deal for it, it'll probably be later…
