Ben-DutkaNASCAR fans will have their pick: either snap up the more accessible Days of Thunder: NASCAR Edition soon, or wait until next year and pick up the more simulated NASCAR The Game 2011 .
Today, Activision and Eutechnyx have announced the February 2011 release of the latter, which will arrive for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii. According to the press release, it will "redefine what fans can expect from a NASCAR racing game," as it "has been built from the ground up to make a thoroughly new experience." The developers utilized feedback from fans and then took that info to the teams, drivers and officials in order to produce the best NASCAR recreation possible. You can either create your own racer or play as one of the world's top drivers when battling it out for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Championship, and each pro "has the AI characteristics of his or her real world counterpart." They also say that we'll get the realistic benefit of "meticulously detailed" damage and the car wrecks will be "the most extreme ever experienced in an officially licensed racing game."
Featuring 22 real world tracks and full pit stop strategy, along with in-depth multiplayer modes for up to 16 players, this one has it where it counts. You will earn NASCAR experience points in both online and offline races that will let you unlock certain rewards (special car designs included), and various races await you in the robust and lengthy Career Mode.
