Okay, so the PSN has already seen one cult classic movie featuring Tom Cruise – Top Gun – so how's about another one? Well, this one is more modern, as it pays homage to an iconic film, but still…
Coming soon to the Network is Paramount Digital's Days of Thunder: NASCAR Edition , developed by Piranha Games and featuring some of the top current racers on the NASCAR circuit today, including Jimmie Johnson, Mark Martin, Denny Hamlin, Ryan Newman, Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon, Kasey Kahne, and more. The game will boast four single-player modes (Quick Race, Time Trial, Career Mode, and Derby Mode), many of the most recognizable tracks in history (Daytona, Darlington, Kansas, Talladega, Michigan, etc.), along with the racers from the movie. Cole Trickle will be "aggressive" and rash, Rowdy Burns will utilize "experienced techniques," and Russ Wheeler…well, he'll have that temper we saw in the movie. Up to 12 players will be able to race together online, too. Heck, we'll even be able to "drop the hammer" by drafting directly behind a foe, and then hitting the throttle to swing around and take the lead. Other features, including a Focus mode that will slow down time to let you avoid wrecks, real-time damage, and a mini-game in the pits, should really add some appreciated spice.
Days of Thunder: NASCAR Edition will be available on the PSN very soon; if not tomorrow, than next week. You ready to swap some paint with the best of both fiction and reality?

This or GT5?
What terribly bad timing old chap.
If it's $10, I'll buy it, it'll be a game that hopefully can scratch my racing itch cheap.
Uh…this comes out this month. GT5 isn't until November.
I've got enough games in my catalogue to not have to buy this.
Why fork out for a game that if I did buy, would never see the light of day again once GT5 is out?
I still stand by whoever scheduled the release date for this games needs his job reviewing/head examined.
What's next? Cocktail?
Looks like a day one pickup for me… Hopefully today, as due to maintenance (according to joystiq) the PSN will be down all day tuesday and due to that fact we get a monday PSN update.
Already been confirmed that the PSN will get a content update today instead of tomorrow night due to the downtime tomorrow.
This is most probably one of the biggest reason's why Sony's doing all this maintenance tomorrow…..

This article smells like a slow news day.
Is anybody body else feeling a little cheated that in GT5 we wont have cockpit views for all cars. For as long as they been working on this game you would think that it would have all views available.

My understanding was that there will be cockpit views for all cars but a small percentage will be immaculately detailed and the majority will just be good quality detailed.
Shake and bake! Shake and bake!
