What do you get when you combine Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami, Suda 51 ( No More Heroes , Killer 7 ), and a bit of Silent Hill influence from sound director Akira Yamaoka?
You get the fast-paced, horrific project from new studio Grasshopper Manufacture: Shadows of the Damned . Just announced at the Tokyo Game Show during EA's press conference, this third-person shooter experience appears to be loaded with all sorts of nasty enemies – zombies, demons, and general freaks – a tantalizing female character, and lots and lots of death. Maybe Mikami's recent stints with Vanquish and Bayonetta have caused him to speed up everything he touches but in looking at the debut trailer, maybe that isn't a bad thing.
We'll definitely have to learn more about this one. During the announcement at the press conference, it was described as a "psychological action thriller" and tells the story of Garcia Larkspur who travels to hell to save his true love, Paula. Romantic, isn't it? But it's hardly a romance; Mikami says the game has a "punk rock edge and Suda 51's trademark style," but he also mentions there will be some lighter moments as well. Suda 51 then calls it "one of the best games he has ever worked on."
Shadows of the Damned is in development for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii and PC.

Talk about demonic! I love it….
That does look badass…keeping an eye out for this one!
He looks more Japanese to me with a name "Garcia".
Platinum is probably one of the few studios that's trying to appeal to the west while doing a good job at the same time.
The trailer looks good but the gameplay doesn't look that good, not interested until I see something better.

Yeesh. The voice acting and dialogue seem to be on par for a Japanese game….
….but it does look like it could be fun.
Kinda looks like a mix between Painkiller and Darkwatch to some extent. May be worth a look later, but as of now I'm not that impressed.
Geobaldi,
Yes, and maybe with a little bit of "The Darkness" thrown in too for good measure.
Anyway, the game looks good to me, so I want it.
And I'll even give the game an extra thumbs-up for using a semi-biker.
All I could say was 'Wow', lol. This game I'll have to keep a look out for, lol. It could seem better, but I like the fact it doesn't. It looks fun and interesting.
Seemed like a cool atmosphere but the graphics… meh.
you really can't judge a games graphics based on a video with a resolution of 360p
You can when it's headed to Wii.
I failed to read that it was headed to the Wii. I retract my comment and now I'm a little disappointed
WOW that looks cool. Looks like it has the potential of being a lot more fast paced than RE which would explain the over the shoulder perspective with a strafe function. Glad to see them finally put that feature.
I'm 100% open to new series but I will be very disappointed if for the 4th consecutive year in a row SE does not announce KH3!
::whisper:: onimusha……….
Oye a voice in the back of my head reminded me that I also demand to see another Onimusha as well. Make it happen Capcom.
i would like a next gen MEGA MAN…(onimusha as well)
MEGA MAN – minus the kiddy feel more adult like u kno
The only next gen Mega Man that's been revealed so far is Mega Man Universe. Hopefully more will come later.
Love that skull gun!
Man, add a working one of those to a premium edition & I'm all over it
(ammo be included though)
P.S. that's….."UNLIMITED"…..ammo!!!!!
Looks great! Graphics aren't everything. Looks like Resident Evil meets Dante's Inferno meets Army of Darkness.
And again, why is there man named Suda 51?
So… is Suda 51 a name??? realy???
…
…
That's weird.

World & Hellish Devil,
Suda 51
"Goichi Suda" = CEO of Grasshopper Manufacture
The "Suda 51" nickname derives from his real name, Suda.
The "51" in his nickname, Suda51, is a also a pun on his real name too.
Japanese…."Go" is #5 and "ichi" means #1.
Good to know Biker, thanks for clearing that up.
ohhhhhhhhh.
It's still weird to have a number on your nickname.
OT: Looking forward to Alice: Madness Returns coming to consoles 🙂
Okay, what's up with the main character's first name being Garcia? That's as tacky as Gomez Addams from The Addams Family. We all know that the his real name was Adam Gomez but they flipped it. No balls in giving a main character an actual Spanish name. Oh but wait..they give him a tacky ass "Spanish" accent…man this is the 21st century, we can do without the wack accent just to imply background.
Wack.
