We always applaud drive and ambition in most any walk of life. The two Bioshock titles thus far have been excellent, but there's always room for improvement.
Irrational Games boss Ken Levine told Game Informer that he won't be happy with "good" or even "great;" he wants Bioshock Infinite to be known as a "world-shaking narrative experience." Bold words, but we have complete faith in this team; Levine said simply:
"We want this to go down in the history books as both a world-shaking narrative experience, but also a ‘Holy s—! I was in this combat and let me tell you what happened! It was awesome!’"
He also mentioned that he'll implement a bit of the old-school System Shock as well. In talking about the story, Levine ran into criticism for the fact that "whenever you encounter somebody, they're behind a piece of glass" in Bioshock . And although he admits to getting "rich and fat off of that trick," it's gonna disappear in his new project.
At the same time, Art Director Nate Wells talked a bit about the unique setting (a fictional 1912 America set in the floating city of Columbia). Said Wells:
"We wondered if this time period would bear fruit, and it became clear very quickly that it would. We were able to play with history and draw from history in the same way, and cherry pick what we want and leave what didn’t serve us."
If you don't reach for the stars, you won't impress anyone. We loved both Bioshock games, which is why we're crazy psyched for Infinite , and…well, we're just big fans of designers who not only want to make the best product possible, but also wish to give us something truly memorable.
Related Game(s): Bioshock Infinite
Looking forward to it, I'm a big fan of Bioshock.
Good to hear.
Cool. I'll be waiting. Besides Medal of Honor and Killzone 3 this is the only other FPS series I'm interested in.
you're gettin medal of honor? if so we're going to have to get a match goin.
I only played the first one on the PC, and although playing with almost all of the graphics settings on low, I enjoyed very much. It´s nice to see good a game with such good history, great music and sound. This one can be awesome, but I think it will be difficult to top the "shock & awe" of the first one. Let´s hope they can deliver.
Give 2 a spin if you can. It's worth it.
cool i can't wait this game is already my 2012 most anticipated game.
Cant wait to play this game but a question for people with hdtv, are the subtitles in Bioshock 1 in hdtv impossible to read or is only in sdtv?
Subtitles in all games are only crap in SDTV.
this is a D1P for me. i love the bioshock series. i am playing through the dlc for 2 right now. love it so far. i cant wait to hear more about this game.
World, thanks for that info, I always wondered what was wrong with most of my sub-titles.
I always play my games with subtitles on my 32"SDTV, just in case the background sound happens to garble out the voices(which seems to happen a lot).
Plus, I've noticed that 99% of the subtitles are either so small so that the letters seem to blend into each other, or they're wrongly color contrasted against the background, that always makes them too fuzzy & almost unreadable.
Shame some developer's don't think to do a slightly bigger print, and color contrasting, of their subtitles.
Come to think of it, maybe if some of those developers, actually balanced the different sound out a bit better, I wouldn't even need to turn the subtitles on at all.

I only just bought the second over the weekend, and hearing this really has me more amped for Infinite. I really hope the story can match up to the amount of talking those fellas over at Irrational are doing.
At the same time, I kinda wish they would shut up. We have still got almost eighteen months before the earliest possible release.
Peace.
haha, I think they're just a little excited, give em a break 😉 But yeah, they should talk it up like a half a year before it releases, not now, when it's so far away.
This is the number 1 fps I'm waiting for. The plasmid/weapon customization is just outrageous. I'll admit I didn't buy the game initialy because of the cover. I thought it might be too wierd to get into. I thought it my be some type of twisted pedophilia or something. I bought part one for $16 at Blockbuster. Tomakealongstoryshort I freakin loved it so much I reserved part two 2 months in advance. Cant wait for Infinite!

Infinite will be my first Bioshock purchase. Looks too cool to pass up on.
Not to mention the epic cleavage.
Amen.
@ RebelJD – Why haven't you bought Part 1&2? They were great. Just read any review.
