We have high hopes for Bulletstorm ; some of the gameplay media has proven massively entertaining .
If you're unfamiliar with the development details, it's a collaborative effort by Gears of War gurus Epic Games and their Polish subsidiary, People Can Fly. It will be published by EA and even though it's a new IP, the publisher fully expects the game to be a big hit. In speaking to Eurogamer , boss of EA's Partners Program, David DeMartin, said Bulletstorm should perform "very much like Gears on the sales charts:
"It's (a) new IP, so let's hang that around its shoulders if you will. But it's a great game. Let's not call it Call of Duty or Medal of Honor massive, where I'm thinking Call of Duty maybe 15 million units, Medal of Honor maybe seven. It could be very much like Gears."
Okay, well, at least they're being semi-realistic. Call of Duty -like sales really are out of the question, and it seems they think Medal of Honor will also be pretty damn huge, too. But from what we've seen of Bulletstorm , and knowing EA will likely make sure everyone knows it's "from the makers of Gears of War , that over-the-top bit of FPS goodness could really make a big splash. For those of you looking for a ceaselessly brutal shooter that allows you to be very, very creative (and sadistic), you should definitely pay attention. This one has potential.
We'll have to see how it turns out next year. Can't wait!
Related Game(s): Bulletstorm
I'll probably wait a while on this one. Looks good though. Just not on my 'must-have' list at the moment.
yeh likewise does look pretty cool tho
This what EA likes to talk about?
Oh how I miss the days Japanese devs ruled the world

Me too.
Me too.
Me four.
They say stuff like this about all their games.
If EA markets the thing properly and the game can hold it's own, then I'd say he's being very realistic. There was much hype over Gears, but its sales numbers aren't THAT high.
A definite candidate for bargain bin gaming.
It will not, just like Medal of Honor will not outsell COD. It is sad but it is the truth
Medal of Honour isn't lookin' too bad either. See if they still maintained what they were all about then this new Medal of Honour would be all about single player just like their ps1 days.
This is a GameFly game at best. I'll screw around with Bulletstorm for a while but I doubt it will have enough substance to make it worthy of my permanent collection.
This game has my eye. While I doubt it'll be the next Gears of War in sales, I do think it has a shot at being a well received game.
EA, don't just talk, show us that its got it.
looking forward to this game way more than Mehdal of Honor
Energy rope, lol.
energy rope? werent you just worldswillend?

For 9/11 yes.
There's a silly energy rope in this game.
i was not aware of the energy rope.
i kind of liked that screen name, it was cool
Reminds me of Samus' Grapplebeam.
Maybe I'll do variations on World this year.
Erm, so, that's about 5mil, yeah? Considering that most all multiplatform games with a large marketing campaign hit that mark, I'll agree with them.
My biggest problem with this game: It's set for release the same day as KZ3. That does not bode well for sales on the PS3 as far as I'm concerned. Well, this is below Medal of Honour on my wants list, so it's pretty low.
Peace.
P.S. Ben, considering you've mentioned a 360 exclusive, I was just wondering if you'll be giving us your thoughts on Halo: Reach as you have for Alan Wake and SMG2 recently.
Seriously doubt it.
im not so sure about that, i mean yea its looking super cool!
but, well, its a new IP so allot of people are not going to want to buy it because they dont know what to expect.
it certainly looks great, but to dance with one of the industries best selling exclusives?
lets wait and see, but ill be really shocked if it does.
Gears was a new IP and it sold pretty well. Why wouldn't the creators of it have confidence in their next game?
edit: In fact, this one being a multiplat has potential to surpass Gears by a long shot.

gears sold well because 1 its made by epic and 2 the 360 had very few exclusives at the time of release.
now we have many, many more titles to choose from, and, well, who has the biggest fanbase?
epic, or people can fly?
if i remember right gears 2 sold 2M units in its first 3 days, if bulletstorm gets those sales ill be seriously shocked.
This game is not on my wanted list. I think they will do fine, but I don't think it will do Gears-like fine.
This one's definitely on my radar. What I saw so far promised to be insane fun.
Well, Germans probably won't be able to buy a domestic version, but amazon.co.uk is my friend ^^
Epic said they won't release a censored version anywhere, and there's no way the USK will pass certification on such a "nasty" game X)
I'm completely uninterested in it. It looks like every other shooter out there, just with some kicking and electric lasso gimmick. There are WAY too many really interesting games on the horizon to pay any attention to this.
maybe it'll turn out decent, but I'm not really into FPSs, so it's probably a no-buy for me as well.
looks fun anyways ^^
Except it is being developed by People Can Fly, not Epic itself, though Epic owns People Can Fly; and Iâm sure Cliffy B will have some input.
Yea, just take a look at the art direction. It's Gears in first person perspective -_-
Gotta agree with Jack on this. There are some good games coming down the pipe. This one may have potential but will have to take a back seat for now. Maybe they should tout the story of the game instead of preconceived sales numbers. Nowadays anybody can make a shooter but how about a shooter with a great story.
Like Lawless pointed out, too bad it's being released the same day at Killzone 3.
