Ben-DutkaAlthough I'm interested in the PlayStation Move and 3D-compatible Virtua Tennis 4 from Sega, I'll admit to being more intrigued by 2K's announcement today.
The bottom line is that their Top Spin series has always been more realistic and better overall. I've been waiting for some news on a fourth installment and now it's here: 2K Sports has revealed Top Spin 4 , which will release next year for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii. If you're willing to place your pre-order between now and launch day (whenever that may be), you'll get Andre Agassi as a playable character! Said Greg Thomas, president of product development for 2K Sports:
"Top Spin 4 is shaping up to be the most realistic and exhilarating tennis game in the Top Spin franchise. For this iteration, the development team is focused on delivering a bold new take on the sport of tennis by allowing gamers to experience first-hand an uncanny level of realism in the player and stadium models, authentic audio captured directly from real tennis matches, and all-new innovative controls to dominate the competition."
Currently in development at 2K Czech, the fourth iteration features "redesigned controls, jaw-dropping player models and Signature Style animations, enhanced TV-style presentation elements, and one of the deepest player rosters to date featuring tennis' top athletes and legendary pros." I'm good with all of that. All I'm looking for is yet another step in the simulation world; Top Spin 3 was a little too easy to master if you knew how to build your character. But anyway, this is great news and the timing couldn't be better with the US Open in full…er…swing.

Mr.Andre Agassi as a playable character if you pre-order Top Spin 4? Super cool. I'm a Las Vegan as is Andre Agassi so I'm all for it! I think I'll be pre-ordering the Move so to avoid the chance of it being sold out when all these great games come out.
Top Spin 3 was great and I'll certainly keep an eye on this.
I've been watching a lot of the US Open this past week and I have to say, as a tennis player, I think it would be amazing to play as well as the top players. Not play as a great player in a game but to be able to do what they do in reality. I was just watching Federer play this guy Melzer and all I could think was "I want to play like that". I just think it would feel so good to be able to hit the ball with that kind of power, precision and control. But I think I'll just have to keep practicing and developing my own game, I don't expect to ever derive the same kind of pleasure from a tennis video game as I do from the real thing.
Its one of the differences between a sports game and a shooter, for example. For some reason I do enjoy guns, but the only way for me to carry out my particularly male fantasies of violent gun battles is in a game (which is of course, for the best). But a sport, at least tennis, I can actually go out and play. Ramble, ramble.

i wont be buying any more 2K games ever again till they start patching there freaking games!
borderlands and mafia 2 are the only 2 games i have ever not been able to finish because of bugs!
borderlands kept corrupting my file, and mafia 2, well every half hour im booted out of the game with a vista error, not to mention massive frame rate drops from 70+ to 5, screen tearing, slow down, pop in, freezing.
im through with 2K games till they learn how to polish them!
i dont have enough cash to spend on games that do not work!
