Naming a game is probably a lot more complicated than we all think. Very likely, they go and examine all sorts of sales charts and data and what have you.
This is why they come up with a bunch of possibilities and toss 'em out, one after the other, until they've decided on a keeper. Insomniac has had to produce some interesting titles for their ongoing Ratchet & Clank series over the years, and the latest is the co-op-based All 4 One . But with four characters cavorting about together, what other titles were considered? Well, according to Joystiq , the developers had toyed around with-
But you know, the game really is geared towards a younger demographic and as series writer TJ Fixman told the audience at PAX 2010 this past weekend, "At the end of the day, I think we didn't want to scare off the parents who might be buying the game for their kid." Understandable. Still, you guys did produce an R&C installment with the sub-title, Size Matters . Just sayin'. The interesting part is that there was supposedly a spreadsheet with over a hundred possible titles for the game! How the hell did they think up that many in the first place…?
Anyway, stay tuned for our Q&A with Insomniac concerning Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One .
The multiple organisms is hilarious. But i totally understand why they didn't go with it. Whatever the name this game is going to be awesome.
i really like Bros b4 Foes the should be the name
I agree! That was the best title.
Ya thats a catchy one
Bros b4 Foes should have actually been the title….Love it but Fiends with Benefits is a close second

the all 4 one sounds like that rod stewart love song for the three musketeers movie… " all for one, and all for love" can't believe i used to listen to that. gag…
How about Ratchet and Clank and…"Friends"? I'm not neccessarily suggesting "that". If you know what I mean btw.
Okay fine. That was lame.
I kinda misread multiple organisms… so I was like Whut did they wanna call this game o.O
But yeah Bros b4 Foes would've been awesome.
lol, I read "Multiple Organisms" a bit too fast…It ended up being slightly more adult oriented than I the rest of the names
I believe that was the original goal of that title.
LOL! Insomniac are brilliant with some of those names. I love the way that the R&C games work on two levels of humour. I just kind of wish that they had stuck with something a bit more risque. Oh well.
Also, wasn't Size Matters handled by a different dev team? If so, I imagine either that other team or Sony came up with the name of that rather than the guys at Insomniac.
Peace.
Size matters and Secret Agent Clank were both by a completely separate developer that basically had access to the R&C graphics, art and sound assets that Insomniac maintain for their games, but as far as I know Insomniac didn't have much to do with the story or development of either PSP title.
So it's Ratchet & Clank again, any of the preivous ones good ?
I used to love platformer games and need a decent juicy one to get my teeth into again. Any suggestions people ? 🙂
i say every single ratchet and clank game is worth playing. if ur ps3 doesnt play ps2 go get a ps2 and get all of those. seriously worth it. even if you just get the ps3 r&c they are fantastic. they follow off the story line started in the ps2 games but you do not need to play them to enjoy the ps3 games. there is one for psp called size matters but it is also on the ps2.

If you just play one ratchet from the PS2 era, play the third one (up your arsenal). Imo that is the best ratchet game ever. Going commando is easily second best 🙂
R&C is the best platformer on ps3 imo. I've never undersood the hype around LBP, it was cute at first but grew old fast (however lbp on psp is awsome. Go figure…!). Ratchet & Clank on the other hand, is as good as a platformer can get. It's a solid production, pure fun from beginning to end.

The PSP ones go (in descending order of greatness);
Up You Arsenal,
Going Commando,
Ratchet & Clank (the original and first),
Deadlocked,
Size Matters (port from PSP)
Though, for maximum effect, play them in release order.
Apart from the final puzzles in A Crack In Time, I do think it's the best on the PS3, but only by a small margin. In some ways Quest for booty may be the best, but it's so short…and besides, A Crack In Time brings back Clank.
Ben, it's not geared to kids. It's geared for all.
Multiple organisms > all
4 Play makes the most sense.
how about
Ratchet and Clank: 4 Nication
i hope those two don't fornicate
yeah we'll leave that to the fan fiction writers.
I remember hearing somewhere that going commando was akin to being without pants on or something. Also the first thing that comes to mind with Up Your Arsenal is "up your arse" which is pretty self-explanatory. Still even though All 4 One sounds decent, I would've liked on of the less subtle titles. Then again, I fall into the young "adult" demographic…
its nice to see R&C returning, its by far my favorite gaming series but i wish they would give us a true sequel to ACIT not this co-op patch.
