inFamous 2 Gameplay: Telekinesis, Destructability

Sucker Punch brought inFamous 2 to the PAX event this past weekend and if it weren't for the Duke Nukem Forever insanity, Cole's latest bout of awesomeness would've stolen the show.

This is three minutes of straight-up gameplay from the highly anticipated sequel, complete with the overhauled hero. You'll notice the differences between this Cole and the one in E3 gameplay video ; it's still not the original character, but it's certainly better. However, that's hardly the point. Just check out this clip and try not to drool…right around the 1-minute mark, the good sh** kicks in.

There's even a challenging boss fight included, and that alone is enough to get us excited. But we also like the new melee weapon – known as the Amp – and the destructability of the environment adds to the overall immersion factor. So much of New Marais is going to bite the dust in this one; it might be a lot more fun to be evil this time around!

This video is awesome and the game looks great but it is weird to see Cole change his fighting style so much. I think maybe the longer hair Cole version was more suited for all those young movements.

And now I understand why they changed him before lol

Yeah you're right they need to change the fighting style.why is he shooting from his left hand?

@Kiryu
you could switch from right/left hand aim in the original.

I watched this last night, was too stunned to type anything.

D1P. It was when I put the first game in for the first time. Telekinesis, ice-powers, I wonder if theses powers can affect each other, make them more powerful.

Wow! Never played the first Infamous. It just never captured me like I wanted it to. Can anybody answer me this one question though. How story-driven was the first Infamous? To elaborate, how often would you play and find yourself progressing through the story?

PLAY IT! You must. After buying it, on the way home i thought this might have been a mistake. Boy was i wrong. One of the best games this generation. This is the only game i have played this gen that would cause me to loose track of time. No joke, my wife got pissed at me because i started playing one night at 8pm, when i finally looked up at the clock it was nearly 2 am. The game is massively addicting. I think you will be surprised at how good and how much fun the game is over all.

As for the story, i think you will need to play the first one to get the events in the second. There is a lot in the first to take in. One of my favorite stories this gen.

Same sentiment as mine. I played the demo, but wasn't blown away. A few months later, i bought the game used, and after a long night session, I returned the game, and repurchased it brand new. The gamestop employee looked at me wierd…and i was like what can i say, i have to reward great developer. It's a surprisingly addictive game, and one that will grow on you very quickly.

The story is fantastic with a mind bending ending. You will be a failure if you don't buy it at it's current price.

You just gotta give it a play!
And if you already tried the demo, it wasn't 1/10th as good as the game itself is.

So far, I've spent about 57 hours on just "Good" Cole alone, and still have 2 up=link missions left to clear his good side.
And I'm sure that I'll put in at least that much time in once again too, just re-playing it as the "Evil" Cole.

The biggest thing about this game is that you had better make sure you've got nothing else on your plate to do, and no work on the next day, cause they'll all go right by the wayside as as you lose all sense of time while playing.
I started off just planning to play an hour or two, but found myself doing nothing but marathon sessions, cause it was just too addictive to stop.
InFamous is "Crack on a disc"…. always leaves you wanting more(but it's GREAT crack)!

And believe me, inFamous is a drug that time is very well spent on.

It's settled then! Infamous is on my must-have-must-get list as of today!

Thanks Jawk!

For the Greatest Hits price, you can't go wrong.

And if you don't like it all that much for some reason, at least it was cheap. haha

Really though, if your at all interested inFamous 2, you can't go wrong with the first game. If you don't find it as much fun as i did, do what i did with Ratchet and Clank. Rushed through Tools of Destruction to get the story so i could play A Crack in Time.

Infamous has a good enough story to warrant at least one play through. My only warning is some of the side missions can get tedious but those are optional.

That's what I was worried about. From the surface the game seemed to be really focused on electrical powers. I hadn't heard much about a story until I started reading comments from regulars on this site. If it has a good enough story then I wouldn't mind diving into it. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't buying a Just Cause game amped up with electricity!

That crazy horse is awesome! I hope there are many versions of it!!! Or at least many of them.

The game looks amazing. This is why exclusives is where the best of the best is.

Hoping for a May release again

Only thing I didn't like was that it seems you can't change hands to shoot electricity…

PS: I hope there are unlockable costumes… Not too keen on the sneakers/shirt look

I suspect SP wouldn't get rid of the arm option. For one, that would seriously limit camera angles in battle. I just think that whoever was giving this demo, prefered the left hand.

I wouldn't worry 🙂

That monster kind of reminds me of those monsters that multiplied when they died in the first Hellboy movie.

In the first one you could change right/left handed aim. You could do it while shooting. It was very useful for me.

Wow, it's good to be back! 🙂
It's even better to see the hype over inFamous 2 growing. I'm really excited to see Sucker Punch listening to their fans. This gameplay shows that they do. The moment I heard of a sequel for inFamous, I was already sold. But getting footage like this demands another playthrough of the first!
We've definately got a GOTY candidate for 2011.
