We knew Killzone 3 was set to release some time in February, thanks to E3, but we didn't have an exact date.
Now we do. Sony has announced that Guerrilla's hotly anticipated FPS will hit store shelves on February 22, almost exactly two years after the groundbreaking KZ2 released. Based on what we know about the new entry, the Helghast should be more defined, and the developers have worked to make the story and dialogue better. The addition of jetpacks has been documented everywhere, and the team has always said they wanted the environments to be more diverse. They've also talked about fine-tuning and tweaking the movement and mechanics, which initially got fans of KZ2 a little upset…why change it when it's so unique and sets the game apart from other shooters? Especially when it finally makes it feel as if the character we control has weight? Well, you needn't fret, as Guerrilla has clarified that such a feel will still be there, but they wanted to streamline the control; they wanted to eliminate any potential for dead spaces and make everything seamless.
It blew away the crowd at E3 but then again, it probably helped that they were all given 3D glasses so they could see KZ3 in three-dimensional glory. Will you want those glasses for the game? Maybe you'll be ready after getting them for Gran Turismo 5 …
Related Game(s): Killzone 3
This game looks awesome from what Ive been told! Guerilla NICE JOB! For the record I do want them glasses that make it all real and sh** flying at you in your face. But there too expencive. Sucks. But im 1 an many.
AWESOME!!!!!!! D1P for sure and I'll hex those who doesn't.
Well one change I'm not pleased is that after watching the demo again, I found out that Rico's bad mouth was removed COMPLETELY!
Toning down might be good but it's like he hit his head and changed his personality. It ain't big deal but come on, you can't simply change a guy all over just like that.
And wanna bet that the E3 demo will be release just like the GOWIII E3 demo? For me I'm very sure it will.
Awesome! But the movement tweak is a little irksome. Gotta wait and see, I guess. None-the-less, hears hoping it's nothing less than epic-squared!
AWESOME!!!

No matter what, this piece of news is good for what will be a great game in the end.
didn't expect it to come out early next year, i need to start playing again i guess, haven't opened my new copy of heavyrain yet then i definitely need to get gow3 and GT5 as well.
Ahhh KZ3, the only bright spot in the barren landscape that is known as FPSLand. Looking forward to this game. Plus I want those snazzy 3D glasses.
That's my half birthday! Happy Birthday to me!
Yup, expected it to be early next year. Will get for sure. It's more than an FPS, this game pays attention to detail, storyline, and overall variety.
Yip, MoH is now skipped. The second one was a pretty damned good game, and this looks many times better. Just have to get the other two games before this hits.
Peace.
Woot! *does Snoopy dance*
Congratulations to those that enjoy FPS on consoles. Killzone2 deserved higher sales than MW2.
Agreed vertigo… Killzone 2 was a better game overall than MW2… Although i play MW2 more but that's bc I barely kno anyone who plays killzone 2 online which sucks bc it's awesome… mayb killzone 3 will do better

I don't think the weight issue is really the problem with KZ2. It was more the floaty controls and blurry tunnel vision that kinda ruins the fun.
After playing K2 the one problem I have with it is the cover mechanic. It really annoys me. Despite my personal opinion there this is easily the best FPS shooter I've ever laid my hands on.
Killzone 3 released on my 20th birthday. I better get this pre-ordered. I want to wake up with a pre-order ticket on my face and then I'll go pick it up, come back home and melee Helghast soldiers while eating birthday cake. Fu** YEA!
My birthday is close to yours. Mine is six days after which is on the 26th.
And on the year KZ2 came out, I got it for my birthday.
Hey, mine is the 22nd too! We can eat cake together well gouging each others eyes out!

I will probably be passing on this one. I didn't like Killzone 2 at all. It looked pretty and at times was rather fun to play, but the story was just downright nasty. I'd put it on par with a SyFy Original made for tv movie.
I really enjoyed the first KZ2.
It's probably not popular on these boards to mention this, while I thought KZ2 was a great game, it fell short of being revolutionary–I could've rated it a 9.0, tops.
It was great, but outside of the great visuals it didn't really do more to further our definition of FPS gaming. The cover system was a half-step there, but not quite, and a little flawed in implementation. AI was a mixture of good and bad, guns were decent (not R2 good, mind you) Basically, if it came down to the specifics, other than overall graphics, I couldn't argue a solid win over it's competition, which is something that could be done by a game like Uncharted 2, or GT5(sorry, I already know it)
KZ3, on the other-hand, is looking to have all the right ingredients to put it a cut above the rest in it's class.
I really hope it delivers big.
As much as I hate on console FPS KZ2 impressed me in multiple ways. I actually liked the controls, they made me feel more like an actual soldier within the game having to carry heavy equipment and have some sense of fatigue due to the environment.
Can't wait to put my hands on KZ3 as well as GT5
the more i see of this game the more it disappoints me!
ive always been secretly hoping that they would fix all the gripes i had with KZ2 because i really wanted this to be such a great game.
but, sadly that looks like thats not going to happen!
they said they have opened up the levels, but the level design is almost the same as KZ2!
how is that more open?
i absolutely loathe corridor shooters, and thats what KZ2 is and its what KZ3 is looking like.
i wish KZ3 would be more like uncharted 2, and open up the battlefield, let players take the battle where they want.
instead of having one thin pathway down the room, and thats where you have to fight, not a inch to the left, or a inch to the right.
why do games have to be so god dam linear?
you reaaallly like to be the contrary, dontcha?
So I finally started playing Killzone 2 again. I have had the game for quite a while but have only beat a level and never touched the online. Well since I heard the release date of 3 I had to beat it and should be done tonight. I also started some of the online and enjoyed it so far. I will definitely have 3 first day and play online.
Can't wait and so close to my birthday :)which is the 28th.
kz3 is going to be stupid sick… although i played k2 and gave it up, game was TOO challanging.
