Ace Combat: Assault Horizon has been announced but we gotta wait a bit for that one. In the meantime, how's about you take to the skies in an entirely different – yet still deadly – aircraft?
Developed by Gaijin Entertainment, the same team that gave us IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey , Apache: Air Assault should be quite the intense experience. You'll take your uber-effective Apache on a variety of different missions from the jungles of Central America to the mountains of Central Asia, and you had best be careful…this one wishes to be a true-blue simulator. It'll even utilize real-world satellite photography to make the environments truly authentic, and the simulation controls will allow players to "feel every missile, cannon, and bump in the air a war-torn sky has to offer." If this sounds like your bag, you should definitely consider making a purchase when the game arrives on November 9. Granted, it will have to compete with some heavy hitters that month but then again, flight sims are few and far between. Fans of the niche genre will likely put a lot of stock into this particular title, so here's hoping Gaijin can deliver the goods.
Apache: Air Assault is coming for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Think you can handle the pilot's seat?

OK, show me a good demo & I'm sold!
Agreed. I'm not generally into flight sims but the concept actually sounds awesome. If its well executed, I think I could get down with this.
interesting, i guess HAWX 2 will have to tide me over till november.
got it today along with rugby league live and i must say its better than what i was expecting.
Ace combat's the best. Been playin it since the ps1 era.
When it come to the whole idea of a flight sim then games such as the Aero Dancing/Aero Wings series(which include Aero Elite Combat Academy), Falcon, and Microsoft Flight Simulator series are good as it get because they actually give you an authentic feel for flying. Now if I really want a arcade/unrealistic feel then the Blazing Angels games fill that need.
Apache: Air Assault, I really doubt game will be a actual sim given the way its marketed.
While this may not sound like a sim, it's made by the same mob that put together IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey, which is the best flight sim (not flight action – that's the realm of HAWX/Blazing Angels/Ace Combat) on console, ever. And, as a bonus, it also had a pretty accessible arcade mode for the flight-action crowd.
Really looking forward to this one – Gaijin really know their game in this field, and IL-2 is one of my fave games this gen. Getting it a week and a half after GT5 means I'll be geeking out on my sims and then some :).

IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey might be the best WWII sim, yes, but not the best ever.
If you really want best authentic flight sim on a console then the Aero Dacing/Aero Wings are the best you're ever going to get. Other than that its quite a shame given seeing how CSK/CRI Research(the aero dancing/wings developer) broke from SEGA to pursue making middleware/SDK tools.
Never saw Aero Dancing/Wings about, just given it a Wiki then. Might have to track down Aero Elite for PS2 sometime, thanks for the tip :). Although it'd have to be pretty damn good to beat IL-2's sim mode……
Shame really. This game will go to the "buying it later" file due to it being so close to GT5.
I've got 4 games lined up this november lol.
Plus 2 this month.

When I get enough money I need to get my PS3 fixed and buy HAWX1,2 and I'm thinking about getting Apache: Air Assault but I'm waiting to see how It looks and plays first before I do, I'm In need of some flight games.
I'm missing out on some games I want to play. =(
I just got IL-2 off of Amazon for about 17 bux. It hasn't been delivered yet but I've heard great things about it and had completely forgotten it even existed. With a lot of my back log being cleaned up I was looking for something different to play and IL-2 fit the bill.
Nice one Alienage :). Highly recommend doing all the tutorials first, and not just jumping into playing it through on arcade. Arcade's fun and all, but the realistic flight model is much deeper (a bit like comparing car handling between Blur and GT).
