Ben-DutkaWe've seen plenty of gameplay footage for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow , but the latest, taken by Ripten , almost made me shriek like a little girl. …I said "almost," damnit.
Most anyone who owned a PS2 and could appreciate a certain amount of artistic impression and originality likely adored Shadow of the Colossus . In the game, you had control over what appeared (and felt) like a regular dude, who had to clamber around on these giant titanic bosses, utilizing stamina and strategy to locate the weak spots. Sometimes, the mammoth creature would try to shake you off and you had to hold on tight, remember? Yes? Then watch this:
See? There are even sensitive spots, times when the Goliath will actually attempt to grab you, and the only thing missing is the Stamina meter when attempting to hang on. I've always dreamed of a sequel to SotC but now I'm not so sure I need it. It's right here . Of course, we don't want you to get the wrong idea; there will be platforming, puzzles, and plenty of hack 'n slash combat ala God of War and Dante's Inferno ; it won't all be about tackling Titans. In fact, there are probably only a few.
But still, the influence is obvious and we are not complaining. By the way, we're also pretty sure Halford's bad-ass vocals in this video aren't actually in the game, as we heard no sound effects coming through the track. Unless of course, they just enhanced the music…it fits, certainly.

I'm not having a dig at this game, it definitely is awesomeness at play, but the it's likeness to sotc is shockingly similar, not just giants but the glyphs you have to attack.
I can't help but wonder why the titan doesn't just reach over and pluck you off?

If I could get a used Shadow of the Colossus copy for 30 bucks, should I get it?
Also(ok, second question), does anybody know if SotC has any problems on the 60 gig PS3? Cuz Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 work just fine, but SSX 3 or sumthin, the one after tricky…keeps freezing up.
Well they are re-relasing the game + Ico on a Blu-ray disc, HD Remastered. I'm waiting for that instead because SotC is way to expensive for the PS2, has not really dropped price since its release date.
You should be able to get it for 20 in North America but 30 isn't bad. Definitely a highlight of PS2 gaming. I can tell you that it still looks pretty darned good even on a 46 incher.
You could wait for the HD remake, but getting the PS2 version gets you the original experience. Up to you.
30? I think that's a bit high. Sure it's a class but you don't have to pay that much.

Not sure where you'd be getting it from, but just as a starting point,
Gamestops in the US are asking $19.99 for a used SOTC
And if they can even get an ICO in on a trade-in, ICO still has a crazy going rate of $39.99 (due to it still being in great demand & very few are traded in???)
Yeah, I'll probably just wait for the HD remaster, but yeah, I'd be getting it from game mania, where used games are expensive… Though I know it'll still be there even if I plan to buy it in a couple of weeks, since there aren't many people here who can tell you which games are gold, since they mostly just play Cod:MW2 and BFBC2, most all of them go like "?" when I tell them they should play Demon's Souls, I don't even bother, also no-one seems to know that Uncharted 2 is pure awesome, they don't like Killzone 2 either…
But anyways, thanks for the advice, I'll just wait till the remastered version 🙂
So the next Castlevania in going to be a SotC/GOW hybrid? That's not a bad combo to say the least. I guess someone was bound to make a SotC sequel.
I didn't like that music for the video. I don't mind Heavy Metal, in fact Bon Jovi is my favorite! It just seemed distracting and out of place.
I'm sure the game will have an epic symphony orchestra score….like the movies.

LOL….In my books, you'll be forever known as the guy leaning towards DI rather than GOW. Good for you.
And my book. I think people liked it soo much because underneath its skin it was GOW. I had a hard time playing it though in all honesty!
Nothing wrong with being that guy. I've been doing this almost as long as Ben and I know goodness and betterness when I sees it. And I know how people can be deluded by certain things as well.
i hope this game plays like its own game and not a hybrid of others, including SoTC
I was planing to buy this from the beginning. but the way the character moves is a little weird though.
Please stop saying this game, or any game for that matter, is like God of War.
It really bugs the hell out of certain people. Most of the time its phrased as "This game is a rip-off of God of War."
Whenever I hear GoW references, to me it sounds like "And then, there was this one time, at band camp.."
No offense, but it just gets annoying.
Well……if anyone thinks that footage is SoTC 2 worthy, then you didn't fully understand the original and probably played that game because "you get to take down huge monsters!".
