Dragon Age is multiplatform. Mass Effect 2 has been announced for PlayStation 3 . EA just doesn't do exclusivity. So…wouldn't it stand to reason that Mass Effect 3 will also come to the PS3?
Well, BioWare won't confirm anything at this point, but they admit that such reasoning is probably sound. When studio CEO Dr. Ray Muzyka was asked at GamesCom if Mass Effect 3 would be Sony-bound, he replied that it's a "good guess." However, he made it clear that although it's a "natural assumption," they haven't announced any details on the game, nor have they talked about intended platforms. Still, it seems inevitable, as Muzyka mentioned EA's multiplatform business philosophy and noted that BioWare planned to embrace that same "give it to the biggest audience possible" idea.
"EA is a company that wants to support different platforms, reach different audiences; we're part of EA and we want to make sure we can embrace that as well. I think we're trying to do that with all of our products, whether it's Dragon Age or Mass Effect."
As for the original Mass Effect , that won't be headed to PS3s any time soon. Some say this is a serious problem, as the sequel is a direct continuance of the storyline in the first title, so as a result, what's the point of only getting ME2…? That's an argument that will have to be settled amongst the RPG aficionados; in the meantime, we'll wait patiently for an official Mass Effect 3 announcement.
I just couldn't get into ME. It was a clumsy third person shooter at best. They should have thrown in a grappling hook and parachute to spice things up…
I think someone has been playing too much Just Cause 2.
Ha!
It looks like a good game and I'll most likely be getting it when it comes out. But it's just a game – if I don't get to experience every little extra thing because I never played the first game, it's not exactly going to ruin my day.
I only got 1 out of the 5 DLC's for Fallout 3 and yet I somehow manage to sleep at night.
Getting the Fallout 3 dlc is what keeps one up all night.
Operation Anchorage sucks big time, it's just an unimaginative bit that strips out all RPG elements and basically becomes an FPS.
as a package, im ok with the dlc for fallout 3 since i got the goty version. but anchorage was a bit of a letdown, except for the chinese stealth armor. point lookout was decent though, it actually provided a challenge, even on very hard some parts of the game seem easy, not the hicks in point lookout though.
I will be getting Fallout New Vegas but im worried about the devs of that game since they made alpha protocol and i hope that this one wont be nearly as buggy and crash prone as fallout 3
mass effect 1 cant be ported to the ps3 because its published by microsoft is just a useless reason or assumption. if bioware holds the rights to the game, the publisher wont really matter as much. Its more likely that microsoft has a deal with bioware or it will just be too much work and they simply dont want to do it so hours of extra content will be packaged with mass effect 2. I would point out that ninja gaiden 2 was published by microsoft but ninja gaiden sigma 2 made it to the ps3. basically the same games with more add ons. they can publish is as mass effect alpha 1 and people wont care as long the game is still coming.
as for mass effect 3 going to ps3, i see it as the same thing they were doing when asked if mass effect 2 is coming to the ps3. alot of question dodging and no clear denial. so whatever they try to tell me i can clearly ignore because since EA and Bioware wants to reach a bigger audience, mass effect 3 will be will be multiplatform. of course it doesnt mean i'll get it because i never got into it. It would be funny if the quality of the game as a multiplatform remains the same at is now. it'll show ps3 superiority and at least bring up multiplat standards.
John, I don't get your comment. "It would be funny if the quality of the game as a multiplatform remains the same at is now. it'll show ps3 superiority and at least bring up multiplat standard".
How does the game looking the same on the ps3 prove the ps3's superiority?
its just a thought, i wasnt really sure if mass effect 2 was a game that sold on its graphics. i just thought that multiplats are generally about finding the least common denominator concerning its quality. having one of your best game become multiplatform when its graphics was supposed to be the best your platform can do while the other console has games with uncharted 2 type quality will show its inferiority.
I must admit that mass effect may not be the best example but its the most recent exclusive game that went multiplat i know. a better example would be if gears of war went multiplatform after a timed exlusivity. its praised to have graphical quality the 360 can handle. then you find out that that quality of a game can be reproduced on the ps3 a little down the road. so this gears of war quality pushes the bar that multiplatform quality would be. but then you still know that the ps3 can churn out uncharted 2 quality games but processes are still not optimized for that console. so the best quality game for the 360 becomes the least common denominator in making a multiplatform game. the quality for 360 exclusive games will stall while the quality for the ps3 exclusive games keeps improving. thats what i mean about ps3 showing superiority.
what i want to know about the ps3 version of mass effect 2 is that are they going to enhance the ps3 version like what they did with bioshock, i think its bioshock. again, im not sure if mass effect 2 graphics was a selling point for the game.
Well, not having played ME2 myself, but I have heard that Dragon Age doesn't exactly have stellar graphics. I get the sense that Bioware isn't into making a game as graphically pleasing as say a Naughty Dog is. I have heard the argument that the graphics aren't as great due to the fact that it is such a large game. FFXIII was a large game, and those graphics were beautiful.
Not that this would ever happen, but I will allow my mind to wonder this… what would a Uncharted 2 port to an XBox 360 look like?
You talked about taking 360's best and seeing what it would look like on the PS3. If you reverse that and take the PS3's best, and put it on the 360, I wonder what you would get.
I, for one, have no problem walking into a situation/movie/game and being able to fill in the backstory based on the behavior and words of the existing characters so I while it would have been best to have ME1 as well, I don't have a problem with this. I still plan to play the game.
As far as them not confirming ME3 for the PS3, that will hinge upon whether or not they can extract more money from MS to make it a timed exclusive. Honestly I can't blame them though, MS throws money around like it's going out of style as they attempt to tread water.
As was Mass Effect 2 coming to the PS3..
Might as well confirm ME3 Bioware, you'd do a giant disservice only bringing out #2. It wouldn't make sense.
I know BioWare will find a way to incorporate the past events from ME1 onto ME2. I just hope they come out with a demo for it. The game looks awesome, but I would like to be able to play it before I buy it.
They have Bugz, as ME2 will feature a seamless introduction into its story, along with most of the DLC released so far for the game, included on the disc (i.e. with the game).

Oh no, been a long time. Anyway am getting ME2 soon for the 360, nice to know its coming to PS3 now.
If we never see ME1, we need a work around. Simple as that. I want to be able to play on my pc. Even if it looks atrocious, I'll grind through even though I dont want to, was I want MY personal story.
Kinda coincidental, isn't it? ME2 PS3 comes out roughly one year after its 360 release and BW didn't comment on a PS3 release until GC. Liberty City Stories, anyone?
ME3 will be probably a 12 months exclusive on 360 if MS doesn't pour all their bri…, I mean money into Kinect.
more than likely it will be a same time release. after i game cracks the multiplatform seal, the chances of it going back to some kind of exclusive are really slim. look at bioshock 2, dead rising 2 and lost planet 2 as examples. plus, what good would it do to have the third game a timed exclusive after ps3 users have tried it out and hopefully like it? both systems got a big user base now and they see this

Seems like a no-brainer if you ask me, EA does multiplats and they're supporting Sony a lot.
Looking forward to this one. ME2 was probably the only game on the 360 that I really liked the look of.
Now getting a PS3 version is very good news. I now just need to squeeze in enough playing time to get through Dragon Age Origins, Demons Souls and the upcoming GT5 before this cracker comes out.
A bit like Babylon 5 which was an underrated gem in my opinion.
I can only say that it sucks when time passes by and it's noticeable by these late releases. The same hype can't be reproduced when games come out "later" on. It's like catching and old classic movie. You can watch it and appreciate it but you weren't around when people were speaking about it after watching it in theaters. Here's to recreating the same feeling over again.
meh.
already finished it 4 times i think thats enough for one game!
will be interesting though to see how they handle ME3.
your choices in 1 and 2 shape what happens in 3, so hows 3 going to turn out if well you did not make choices in the first because you did not play it!
they probably will just pick one, like what starwars the force unleashed 2 is doing, it lifts off where the original ended on the light ending.
Look at how Tecmo handled Ninja Gaiden, which it owns the intellectual rights to both the character and franchise. Tecmo developed Ninja Gaiden and Microsoft published the game. Tecmo owns the rights to the game, but M$ft owns the title and probably code/engine. So, what did Tecmo do? It retitled the game Ninja Gaiden Sigma and redeveloped the code/engine for the PS3.
I'm sure this is similar to the ME situation. The difference being is that Bioware probably doesn't want to put that much effort into redeveloping ME1 instead of just porting the game.
What if they announced that Mass Effect 3 will be a PS3 exclusive? Ha ha that will be awesome and totally unexpected.
maybe they might include mass effect 1 with 2
