Ben-DutkaVirtua Tennis is coming back and this time, you'll be able to swing away for real.
Sega of America has announced Virtua Tennis 4 exclusively for the PlayStation 3; it'll boast PlayStation Move compatibility and 3D technology. Developed by the same team that handled the original VT, the fourth installment should prove to be the most immersive, technically accomplished title yet. Scheduled to release some time next year, you're really going to have to be a tactician with that Move controller in your hand: it's not just about hitting the ball, "it's about the angle of the racket, the spin and speed of the ball, and the power of the shot." Move can precisely track all your movements that will result in pinpoint accuracy on the court. Said Simon Rutter, SCEE Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing:
"Virtua Tennis 4 is a fantastic example of how our 3rd Party partners are seeing the potential not just in PlayStation Move, but also 3D. The combination of both Move and 3D offers an entirely new gaming experience and one that has the potential to completely change how people interact with their entertainment. Virtua Tennis 4 shows how this technology can be implemented and we are very excited to be working with SEGA on this."
The full player roster will be revealed "in the coming months" and debuted at the Sony Europe stand at GamesCom. As soon as we can gather up enough details and new media, we'll do up a preview for ya. I'm a tennis fan myself and although I wasn't entirely satisfied with Virtua Tennis 3 , it'll be very interesting to see what this will be like with Move and 3D. Eash indeed Ben, eash indeed… Alianange is correct, could be one of the best applications of Move for the PS3… let us hope they actually "optimise" the 3D engine for the PS3 so we get full "HD' 720p resolution pictures transmitted for each eye…

I am really excited about this. I love to play tennis….maybe this with help motivate me to become a 3.5-4.0 in real life instead of a 3.0
eh,If I want to play a Power Smash game(Virtua Tennis),there is already the arcade version that I could play and it plays much better than the console version.

a tennis game like Power Smash is much better played with a dedicated joystick hence why the arcade versions are much better than console versions.

Now that would be interesting. If they handle it right they could have the best tennis game ever made. I won't be able to enjoy the 3d part right away, but maybe eventually.
nice to see move getting some love, but i doubt ill want to play this in 3D.
went down to EB today to have a look at some preorders and well it looks like move only has 3 games for release!

there as organized as them, and just about as thick!
you think they would of learned there lesson with the ps3, but you would think wrong!
high price + poor lineup = poor sales so to solve the problem they repeat it all over again!

yawn, another day another boring negative comment,seriously do u ever stop moaning about anything? why would you not want to play this in 3d, if it makes it like the ball is actually coming towards you am sure it would help in timing the correct swing, and no theres more than 3 games at release, plus theres allready games out like little big planet, heavy rain and tiger woods, these games are allready out, so theres going to be more than 3 games out at launch!
I love tennis. I love to watch it. I love to play it. I love to read about it.
But this… I don't know if I would love. How difficult would it be? Will there be ANY lag in input at all? Because if there's even a tiny bit, it would ruin the whole experience. What would make this preferable to going out to the courts and actually playing tennis? Would it be better than Virtua Tennis 2009, which was a complete disaster?
I'll reserve judgment, but I'm also not expecting much.
