And the parade of games scheduled for 2010 escaping into 2011 continues.
If you were hoping to get a healthy dose of FPS creepiness this fall, you'll be disappointed to learn that F.E.A.R. 3 has been delayed until 2011 . Developed by Day 1 Studios ( Fracture , MechAssault 2 ), this will be the third installment in the popular and critically acclaimed series, which saw the first title arrive back in 2005. The new entry will "continue the franchise's storyline" but will also add the benefit of a new "divergent co-op mode," where the player can choose one of two characters. You can either play as Point Man, a genetically engineered supersoldier, or his brother Paxton Fettel, who has telekinesis. Also, let's not forget that Warner has tapped horror film director John Carpenter ("Halloween," "Escape from New York," "They Live," etc.) to help with the writing. This series has always produced some effective and quality plots, so Carpenter's aid could really help to put F.E.A.R. 3 over the top.
But we won't know for sure until next year. No word on exactly when it will arrive in 2011, but we're hoping it avoids the already full first quarter.
Related Game(s): F.E.A.R. 3
I've heard good things about the first two, but I haven't played them. I'm sure I'll get around to them eventually. I just watched The Thing for the first time recently and I really enjoyed it, so I'm glad to hear Carpenter is helping out with this.
The Thing is one of my favorite movies. The quasi-sequel of the same name last gen was great too.
I read about that game and have had it on my mental "list of games to play eventually." Good to hear that someone else liked it.
Gimme a break, it's friggin Treyarch man!
What the heck are you talking about. Treyarch doesn't have anything to do with Fear 3. And if it does that will mean the story will definitely be on point.
You are just so far up IW's butt that you can't see anything but mindless button mashing. My 7 year old can roll through IW's games with his eyes closed. I can hear Alienage "twitching" right now.
huh? I think you've finally cracked Alien.

@ rogers71 – Wow. You're hate has blinded you to the fact that I was referencing Treyarch's CoD as the reason for F3AR's delay. Or have you already forgotten what happened last fall?
Don't have such a hissy fit over nothing man.
To be fair "Gimme a break, it's friggin Treyarch man!" doesn't exactly convey your explanation.
I re-read the article after I read your comment thinking that I might have missed a "Treyarch".
I didn't.
You need to be clearer when you write Alienage.
A clearer sentence would have conveyed your sentiment and avoided this confrontation.
@ Alienage,
I will have to say that you didn't exactly get your point across. I just took it as another one of your pro-IW statements. You do seem to have a lot of those.
After all that, I would say that you may have a point. They are trying to get away from the Call of Duty train. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
As far as I know, Treyarch's got nothing to do with F.3.A.R, it's still "Day1-Studios", the developer who did their first two games.
Anyway, I think I'm getting near the end of Fear1 soon, so I should be taking on Fear 2 next.
The graphics of 1 & 2 aren't that great(more PS2 looking than PS3) but…..
"WOW OH WOW", take a good look at the newest trailer for Fear3…..

Would you fellows recommend the first 2? I haven't played either one. I like creepy games but am skeptical as only one game has ever delivered on the first person scariness in my opinion.
I liked the first one better. Better story, fear factor. All I disliked with the first was just playing through to get to the scary parts.
2nd had better gameplay, and a couple of scary moments. Still it felt like a chore to get to the scary parts. Story sucked, IMO.
After the 2nd, I'm done with the series.
What game might that be? As far as the first game go, If you don't mind repetative office enviroments from 2005 and "bulletime" shootouts the scary bits are pretty scary. One part, got me good I have to say. Haven't experience the second enough to comment though.
Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth by Bethesda. A first rate first person horror experience.
They are both very good games, only the PS3 port of FEAR is garbage and plays terrible. Try it on PC or Xbox 360. FEAR 2 runs fine on PS3, also a great game.
My only F.E.A.R. experience was with the demo for 2 and I hated it. Enemies that disappear when you shoot at them isn't scary it's just annoying. I had little trouble for a while and then one disappearing enemy took me 20 minutes and almost all my ammo to kill.
Maybe bad demo, I'm not sure, but that was enough for me to quit and not look back. If fear 3 wants a chance they should get rid of those ghosts.
I KNEW IT!
i swear to god im telepathic!
i said this will get delayed with the crysis 2 story, and surprise, surprise it did!
im still not sure on this, it looks so different from the originals, im not sure how playing as paxton and his brother will effect the gameplay.
plus, monolith are not working on this which was so disappointing they are the horror gods!
there to horror games what stephen king is to horror novels!
wonder what there working on now, hopefully condemned 3, condemned 2 is one of this gens most unappreciated games!

Damn, I wish you were telepathic!
Then you'd already know which games you consider shite, and wouldn't need to overly dramatize all the games you don't like every day(Example: almost all of them).
