First, the "Uncharted" movie breaks down after losing its intended director and now, due to the writer's legal problems, the new "Silent Hill" movie has hit a big snag.
The first film based on the critically acclaimed horror series released back in 2006 and it did well enough to warrant a sequel. Unfortunately, that sequel has been delayed several times and now, according to Industry Gamers citing producer Don Carmody, the project has officially "stalled." One of the big problems involves the movie's screenwriter, Roger Avary, who was convicted of vehicular manslaughter and sentenced to a work furlough program and prison. …everything's a little up in the air after all that. As Carmody told Fangoria :
"The original plan was Roger writing and polishing the screenplay, and when he had finished his thing, we’d begin full-blown production. I’m not sure what’s going on with that. We know we want to make Silent Hill 2 and have a basic outline for it. We’ll have to see."
At first, things were going okay. The work furlough program Avary participated in last year allowed him to direct during the day and stay in a "prison-like facility at night." But then, it seems he got hooked on Twitter and prison officials found he was tweeting about life in jail, which is a violation of work release rules. So, back he went to full-time prison. Yeah, it's a mess. Who knows what's going to happen now?
Get a new screenwriter?
Thats when movies, well at least the sequels, hit the toilet. look at X-men.
The X-Men movies started in the toilet, IMHO. The cartoon show I watched as a kid was a better production all around (themes, dialogue, action, etc).
I actually liked the 1st and 2nd mainly due to the fact that David Hayter wrote the screenplay for both. The 3rd well they didn't want him back so he wrote watchmen afterwards.
I hope they do something with it. I really liked the 1st movie. As a game adaption and also as a stand-alone title.
Technically, it would be a movie adaption, the games weren't rooted from the movie…
lol, now you just splittin' hairs, you know what i meant.
Pyramid head still scares the crap out of me.
He needs his own movie.
That damn fog from Silent Hill must have set upon him while driving.
Reminds of Stephen King getting hit by a car a-la-misery, kind of messed up.
Freakin' Twitter.
Aww.. I really like the first movie. Then agian this one may have sucked due to its sequelness.
It's better this way, the game's all I really care 'bout anyway.
Got stuck in Homecoming, that game is broken. How am I supposed to survive a ton of spooks when my save has no health packs and very little life.
Hehe, that's actually one of the main points of the survival horror genre
When starting a new playthrough they want you to take into account the fact that you'll have to do everything to survive. Which means ammo/health will be crucial. So you must try to not get hurt too much or save those health items as much as possible.
Can't blame you though, this is your first SH, I think. I still have some problems with saving enough health drinks…
You can always start a new save file or find a way to get through your current checkpoint.
Dude I get that, but when it is impossible due to the retarded fighting mechanic, then I call foul.
Thank goodness we've been saved from having another terrible video game adaptation film.
meh, as long as the game still is on track im happy.
for some reason i hate horror movies, but love horror games.
The game has been off track ever since SH4: The Room…
I skipped that one because it was silent hill in name alone. from what i understand it was s'posed to be its own unrelated title. But yea, compared to the other SHs, 5 was terrible, and i didn't play the ice one.
Shattered Memories was fun to play, but instead of being a proper game, i see it more as an experiemntation. It had an intersting element inbetween each level where you wuld do a test with a psychiatrist and what you did effected the next level. The running away concept was not bad either i liked the idea of the threat being undtoppable. Unfortunatly it does get repetative, especially the design of the monsters. but the concept is good.
So shattered memory is the complete opposite of Homecoming? Homecoming is the on SH where I could kill every monster I came across, the others had me picking and choosing each and every fight and it sounds like shattered memory is the same. I may have to give it a try.
Oh this would be a shame if it was cancled, Silent Hill was the only well made game adaption.
An ideal thing to do for the movie would be to have Sean Beans character go back to Silent Hill to look for his wife and relate it to the story of Silent Hill 2. Though i heard however that they are going t be relating it more to SH3 if they do it.
Radha Mitchell all slutted-out as "Maria"?
I'm in.
Who else beside me doesn't care if a game-based movie is cancelled or stalled?
I'm not super-heartbroken over this. I thought the first adaptation was really good (as far as adaptations go), up to a point, then I didn't agree with some of the changes they made to the story. If they do go through with it, I'd like to see them do what Ultimadream said.
Good. The 1st was wrong in almost all aspects, a complete f***k up.
Just hollywood showing their lack of understanding of something artistic and only seeing "ooo monsters = money" in it.
did u accidentally watch resident evil instead? Silent Hill was decent I though…
silent hill was a good movie.
