Come the holidays, one always has be selective, especially in regards to those attractive – albeit relatively pricey – special editions.
Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood is bound to be one of 2010's biggest titles and if you're one of many who plan to sign up for Ezio's second and final adventure, you might be willing to go the extra mile. Today, Ubisoft has announced the Collector's Edition for the upcoming blockbuster, which will differ slightly depending on where you intend to purchase it. If you get it at GameStop, you'll net the Harlequin Jack-in-the-Box Collectible; if you get it anywhere else, it'll be The Doctor Jack-in-the-Box Collectible. Beyond that, you will receive quite the bevy of goodies, regardless of the retailer:
You will also get a special Bonus Disc, which will feature an Exclusive Making-of video, a Digital Sneak Peak at the Assassin's Creed comic, new trailers, and the game's official soundtrack. You should also note that at the game's site , they say "that contents of Collector's Edition may be subject to change." You can have it all for $99.99 when Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood hits store shelves in North America for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 16.
Also, don't forget that pre-ordering will get you into the multiplayer beta test for the game, which is exclusive to the PS3.
The bonus disc, guide & art book sounds cool.
But I think the 2 exclusive SP maps are a complete ripoff & should have been included in the regular game itself. Sounds just like what they did with those locked chapters in AC2.
It just makes me think that they stole it out of the game in order just to rake in more cashola, especially since it seems so obvious that it was being done at the same time as the game too.
that jack in the box looks cool. i might pick this up $$$ depending. i want the lbp collectors edition more. and then there is the gran turismo collectors edition…. ugh.
the more i look at it the more i would like to have it in my collection.
Love the Jack n' Box!…Pretty Creepy!
Pretty sweet, but to much for me.
I really want the Jack 'n the Boxes. I'm betting they will sell well on Ebay, too.
I really enjoyed the 2nd Assassins Creed but this one feels rushed. I don't have high hopes for it at all. I find it disappointing that the game doesn't have the two maps already included in the regular retail copy.
Everything about this game just feels like it's an expansion pack to the 2nd one, all the stuff that was left over from that game being thrown together for this one. Not that the 2nd one felt in anyway short or lacking because that would be furthest from the truth.
With the inclusion of the multiplayer though, I feel they're stretching the little bit of material they have for the single player and trying to make it up with the MP. So imo those maps should be included for all versions of the game at no extra cost.

That Jack-in-the-box looks really cool, I must admit, and as much as I would like that artbook, the maps seem like a bit of a crock given they're for single player.
My money's headed for the signature edition of GT5, and I'm still trying to wrap my head around going into the store in about three weeks and ordering that and waiting for the looks from the register guy. $300, honestly.
Peace.
I'd like the artbook and bonus disc, it's a shame they don't release a special edition with just them so it's cheaper, i'm not paying double price just for a toy.
@ Ultimate. I could not have said it better myself.
Ultimadream
Yeah I agree. Never was really interested in these special editions because of the extravagant price tags. I'm a gamer, but I'm also other things.
Am I missing something here? Dvd's came out were pretty expensive and now very cheap. Blu ray was expensive and now cheap and even the PS3 console was pretty expensive and now cheap. Why are the games getting MORE expensive? Also they are getting more expensive and hardly adding anything to actual gameplay. It's always some art book a map or 2 and a cd or something to that affect for 20-40 dollars more. It's just kind of hard to justify this for a good game. The GOW3 collectors edition was the only one I have even thought was remotely close to not being a ripoff and there are not a lot of games out there of that caliber so I'll have to pass. I'll give you 40 bucks more when you make the GAME 40 dollars better. Too each their own though.
I'd have bought a new AC but i dont want to buy another one based in Italy. Its like they didnt want to build a new resource database so they just recycled stuff from ACII and called it a new game.
I wouldn't want to pay $60 for this MP expansion of ACII, so there's no way I'm paying a bunch of extra money for a toy that will probly be lower quality than what you'd find at the dollar store.
I'm sorry but a lot of these collectors editions look cool in the picture, but when you get it, it's cheap junk.
So for $100 looks like you can get an expansion pack, a tiny picture book, and plastic toy. Sounds like a really expensive happy meal.
I LOVE ACII as it may very well be my all time favorite game… 100% synced and all trophies earned. I also find it VERY disappointing that they would put TWO extra single player maps in the collectors edition! It is a joke really I DO NOT want a toy or some book I WANT THE COMPLETE GAME WITH ALL THE MAPS FOR MY $60!!!!!!!!! It is ridiculous to fleece people for another $40 if we want the other maps… Will these maps be offered as DLC at some point for those of us who can't justify spending the extra $$? Also will there be any rewards in Brotherhood for those of us who completed ACII 100%? I can' wait for The new AC but wish they didn't have to screw the little guy out of those maps…
Well the only people to blame here, for such a lousy deal, are the morons who'd actually go out and purchase this expensive 'Happy Meal' (Kraygen that cracked me up man), and there's plenty of morons out there that will.
I get that some people consider themselves 'Games Collectors' but really would you not prefer to have a full game?
Ask yourself what you're gonna do with that Jack in the Box after you get it? You'll look at it for a few mins, then it'll go on a shelf somewhere and gather dust until the day you do a clean out of old crap and dump it in the bin. In the mean time, you've probably bought more downloadable stuff that wasn't included in the extra price you paid for this extra junk.
Some people can be just plain dumb with their money, unless they're just minted, in which case I'll just never relate nor understand this fascination with these box sets.
Hey wait a second… that map of Rome … it doesn't look very big at all.
already got the codex edition on preorder!
cant wait for this, i really hope this starts of where AC2 left.
im dying to figure out WTF that crazy women was going on about at the end of the game!
I have to say the Harlequin jack in the box is so awesome. That right there is almost worth the extra $40 not to mention all he other goodies. I hate to give Gamestop any money though.
No real offence intended, but if you'd pay 40 anything for that Jack n'the Box you're absolutely barmy!
I dropped more than 60 for a regular version of ACII and then again dropped 100 for a limited edition of ACII… I'm not sure if I want to drop more money on Collector Edition of AC:Brotherhood.
