As usual, the quality of the games is what matters most. But the final results might still prove worrisome for the company in question.
Activision and its reputation amongst gamers has been a hot topic of conversation lately, so we wanted to know if the Activision label has any impact on your purchase decisions. As it turns out, it's a good-news, bad-news situation for the world's biggest publisher: on the good side, over half of those polled said they don't care who produced the game; if it's good and they want to play it, they'll buy it. That's always great to hear from a group of fans that almost always rewards quality. On the downside, the other half of participants said that, at the very least, they will try to avoid buying an Activision game, with more than a quarter of those saying they absolutely won't buy a title made by the Call of Duty publisher. Gaming is big business these days and although some executives frequently say the wrong thing at the wrong time, the overall goal remains the same…they wanna make money. Activision has become an expert at that, but that may not help their reputation.
This week, we focus on something different. For those who only own a PS3, what game do you think they most miss? What title, exclusive to another platform, is the one that PS3 fans are most disappointed in missing out on? Is it Nintendo's Super Mario Galaxy 2 ? The Gears of War franchise for the Xbox 360? Or the recently released Starcraft II for the PC? Vote now!
Starcraft 2 was my choice. Sure, I have a computer that could play it but my machine isn't the most up-to-date rig in the world. SC2 would look pretty spiffy on the big screen with HD graphics and the like.
None! happy with what i already have.
Gents, simple rule here for me. I will buy the hottest top notch product i.e. GOWIII,UC1&2,Bioshock's, GTA whatever. Could care less about who brought it to the market unless they are selling blood diamonds or something horrifying like that. Clearly Mass Effect is the gem of that group. Its seems progressive and epic judging by the trailers etc. By the way can someone tell me how Alan Wake and Heavy Rain differ? They seem very similar. Haven't played Alan wake but I played the HR demo and it was real slick. How do they compare graphics wise?
Graphics-wise, Heavy Rain blows Alan Wake out of the water. Alan Wake isn't a graphically beautiful game even for the 360. I'm not saying it's ugly or anything. I just think it lacks some in the graphics department.
Gameplay-wise, I don't see much similarity. Alan Wake is, at its heart, a TPS. It has a good story, great atmosphere and pretty cool mechanics (in my opinion) that make it more than your basic shooter but it's still one.
Heavy Rain is more of a work of interactive fiction where the emphasis is way more on the story and less on stuff like shooting, etc.
Oh BTW Crysis is intriguing though.
halo series and left for dead.
Halo is overrated, it really is. The first was great because it did things no one else had done. After that they started sliding downhill and haven't stopped sliding since.
All I want is pokemon from nintendo and fable, and mass effect from microsoft.activision is a ***** because of how they treated us marvel ultimate alliance 2 buyers.
I never really enjoyed Halo much, but that's not really fair for me to say because I'm not much of a FPS person… which is why I'm often so critical of the CoD franchise. (I did, however, love Killzone 1 and 2. Need to finish KZ2, actually…)
On the list, it's Legend of Zelda by a landslide for me. I was in absolute LOVE with Zelda back in the NES and SNES days, and I love 3D Dot Game Heroes now too. lol!
If Fable was on the list, I might have considered that, but truth be told, I have Fable 1 on my PC, and I'm sure it's only a matter of time before they put the second one out on PC as they did the first. If not, I'm not too cut up about it.
I'd go with ME2. I really don't think Crysis is possible on the consoles. Not Crysis 1/Warhead. I just don't think there's enough RAM to play with to do it justice, plus the lack of DX10 compatibility wrecks a few bells and whistles.
Not a huge Halo fan, prefer Starcraft elsewhere, wouldn't mind Alan Wake and Left 4 Dead 2, and who needs Forza with GT5 around the corner.
Were crysis' graphics really that good? Better than Uncharted?
oh yes. on a good pc that is.
Yes, very much so. Of course, I think there were many elements of Uncharted that also did things better than Crysis, so it's not like a complete white wash. Crytek's strong suits are their engines. They make insane ones. Just like the guys at GSC (Stalker).
They suffer, however, in the plot/story department. As was apparent with Crysis. But the graphics were absolutely through the roof in that game.
I know ME2 was a good game and all, but I voted for Alan Wake, an exclusive, since I could play ME2 on my PC.
NBA Jam? (Without having to buy NBA Elite.)
I've had a 360 and sold it, so there's nothing I played that left me wanting. The PC is a different story, but no titles come to mind. So I picked Mario.
Left 4 Dead 2 would rock, and I just realised Valve NOW likes PS3 so, wow Left 4 Dead 3 anyone?
