For whatever reason, Parasite Eve has been in the news a lot lately, and it's not entirely because The 3rd Birthday is headed to the PSP soon.
Yesterday, we learned that the first two titles might end up on the PSN (which would be cool), and now, it appears that a high-definition PE installment might be in the works. This from a recent Tweet from Square-Enix executive Tetsuya Nomura, who says fans might not have to wait another decade for a new Parasite Eve . The translation is roughly- "In the case of a sequel can be made, the next one will be a HD version." The source also says that director Hajime Tabata mentioned the team had prepared a multiplayer engine for The 3rd Birthday , but Tabata insisted the game be exclusive to the PSP. Well, if they didn't entirely scrap that engine, perhaps they can use it for a new PS3/360 adventure, which would be a pretty big deal. Well, it'd be a big deal for all those who remember the PE phenomenon from the original PlayStation days; the first Parasite Eve really was a great, even somewhat unique, game. Totally one of my favorites.
And by the way, if you missed out, type in "Aya Brea" in Google to see how big she was back in the day. …can't believe I just said "back in the day" for 1998.
hot babe aging backward? sign me up! little Brea's gonna be a toddler by the time PE5 comes out
HA.
Console's is what I'm worried about.
Gone are the days when Square focused their efforts on excellence for one console. Their PSP games have been so much better his generation.
If its SE then you can be 100% sure it'll be mulitplat.

The same here.
Never played a Parasite Eve game, but The Third Birthday sounds very interesting. That being said, if I do end up liking it, and a fourth (or will the console version be defined as a third while Birthday is relegated to side story status?) will very likely hit my purchase list.
Sorry if my writing is bad, my head is spinning something fierce. I've barely been able to get out of bed today.
Peace.

I could never beat the final boss in the original. This isn't the type of game I usually enjoy on psp, so an HD sequel sounds appealling.
Should've run around and collected 300 pieces of Junk so the arms maker could get you an AK-47. 😉
ya, and make sure you level enough that Aya can transform into a super hero! lol But seriously, she morphs into something wicked if you level up enough.
you really dont have to level up in a certain spot for that, there is enough battles that she should reach it "liberation" by game's end
If you think that last battle was hard, you have no idea whats in store for you in the Chrysler Building
Thanks, guys. It was a long time back. All I really remember is a "baby" making me really mad. lol. May have to revisit this one.
I had the chance to play Parasite Eve in 2000 but I didn't.
Again, just like Twisted Metal, I missed out on something big.
Parasite Eve is one of the best turned based RPG's i ever played. Its up there in my favorites with FFVII and Dragon Quest VIII.
Here's hoping it does hit the PSN so you get another chance.
My memories of it are a walking around a police station and a very awesome intro so I can't wait to play it as a PS1 classic and reinvigorate my love for a game that I played when I was 11.
This is yet another piece of good news from Square Enix.
I personally like the direction Square Enix is taking their games, so Parasite Eve on HD consoles would be most welcome.
Man I remember trying to beat that insane tower challenge in the first PE… it was what, like 100 floors of monsters or something? I forgot what you get when you finish it, but man I just got tired of dying over and over and barely getting through half of it.
PE2 was pretty goot… I just remember grabbing the FF8 gunblade weapon in the game and though it was so cool (I was still like 10 at the time =p). Definitely dug its more action-oriented approach.
That said, I'm totally pumped for 3rd Birthday.
Chrysler Building, and 77 floors, I believe. As I said above, once you had the AK-47, nothing would stand against you. Took some work to get it, though.
I'm diggin' the news on Parasite Eve. Very cool.
I would be more excited if SE hadn't been dropping the ball so much. I hope they do a good job because I'm planning on getting the first 2 off psn and having another great rpg on ps3 is always welcome, just hope it stacks up.
quite honestly, ill take the 3rd birthday, the rereleases, and that's it… Not convinced of SE being able to do anything effectively on an actual console this generation. nothing has been done of note yet this period.
this is exactly why i hate $E there all talk and no walk!
they say yes this can be done, yes that can be done SO FU*KING DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i swear to god if i see them say yea we could do this if we wanted again im flying to $E head quaters and theres going to be horses heads in peoples beds!
JUST GIVE US GOD DAM KINGDOM HEARTS THREE ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cut them some slack alright! Square have already released Final Fantasy XIII this year, XIV is pretty much on the way and they have also been working on many other projects, Even Kingdom Hearts! Birth by Sleep comes out next month so stop being so ungrateful.
I know after what they did with FFXIII I certainly won't be cutting them any slack.
Like clockwork.
Oh this is so exciting, i was happy with PE3 on the PSP but to get a PS3 version would just be brilliant! i say go for it.
I missed this the first time around but would have to give it a try. I hope it does come to consoles since I no longer have a psp 🙂
That's pretty cool, I enjoyed the first couple Parasite Eve's. Felt like a nice melding of Resident Evil and a FF game. Guess I'll have to keep an eye out for this one.
Only on ps3 yes. Multi platform = not excited.
I'll thumb you up…because i agree. haha
I thumbed you up as well.
Make it a 3 thumbs up affair, MEOWWWWW!!
I want to get excited, but something tells me it'll be another multiplat game from SE.
