You can't hide. You can try to hide in a "dead category" in a database somewhere, but someone is gonna find you.
The rumors of a Madden NFL 11 PlayStation 3 bundle package are apparently true. They started when a Best Buy employee leaked the SKU number of the bundle to Kotaku , and then became pseudo-confirmed when the site located an actual pic of the package . Evidently, retailer Best Buy tried to hide this bad boy in a dead category of the company's database, which is often done "to mask a product from searches before it's been officially announced." The bundle will include a copy of the game in question and a 250GB PS3 model, but it may only be available in Canada (although that doesn't make much sense). For the record, we also know about a PSP bundle for EA's newest football entry, but that one has been officially revealed. It seems we have to wait for either Sony or EA to unveil this PS3 package, but they don't have much time…it's supposedly slated to arrive on the same day as the game: August 10.
It's sort of an odd choice for a bundle, in our estimation. It's hardly exclusive to Sony's machine and we find it hard to believe so many have been waiting to buy the system for Madden NFL 11 . But what do we know?
How weird. Of all the games to bundle with ps3 this seems like a really silly choice. Of all the great exclusives that didn't get a bundle they bundle madden? Not exactly a system seller in my opinion.
it makes sense. casual gamers love madden. i have a friend who plays nothing but sports games, so this'll be perfect for him.
But who is going to buy a ps3 bundle just for madden?
From business strategy point of view, I think it's a brilliant acquisition from Sony.
I'm not from USA, but even I know about Madden being the biggest sports game in the world. To bundle it would be a great strategy for casual gamers or sports enthusiasts who are yet to upgrade to a current generation console.
I hope the copy of Madden is free though, not an extra 30 or 40 bucks on top of the console for the separate SKU. A free copy of Madden 11 with your PS3 would be icing on the cake for casual gamers or even people upgrading from the 360 to PS3.
Go Sony!!!
Dancemachine55,
The copy is free. It's included inside the PS3's box.
If Sony charges $399, which it will, instead of $349, it isn't really free, more like $10 cheaper.
Edit:
Unless, of course, Sony will be introducing the 250GB PS3 as the default model at $299, killing the 120GB model, and making the 320GB model the $349 model.
I think this is what Sony might be doing with this Madden bundle. This new pricing and model scheme still means the copy of Madden isn't free but $10 cheaper.
250GB model $299
250GB model with Madden 11 $349
$320GB model $349
hope Sony can drop the price on the 120GB model like $199-$249 and sell the remaining units until they can adjust the prices on the newer models.
What happened to the 320 gb console?
Go to Japan if you want one now. 😉
Or you can go to play-asia dot com
A lot of people buy Madden….A LOT! (even Canadians…the one I know said so!). So this isn't as odd as it first seems. Good for EA, Sony and Canada if this is real!
I tend to believe this because I have been seeing Madden 11 ps3 commercials lately. Anyone else?
Seen it quite a bit, lately. At least two dozen times now.
This is an odd bundle, I can't see Madden 11 selling consoles.
I just hope for a LBP2 and GT5 bundle. Now those games will sell many consoles.
EA and Sony are playing buddy buddy this generation. I love it.
Lately, EA's games have been getting better and better with each iteration. The changes in Madden 11 were for the better in my opinion. That box needs to include 2 controllers and an HDMI cable for $399…
its actually a smart move. the one area xbox controls is joint marketing. xbox usually has their mark on the big multi plats. this move will blunt xbox's tv spots tying them to madden.
PS3 needs to get on the ball and start bundling the heck out of its games. One bundle every year isn't going to cut it. They should put one out as often as the "other" system does. Seriously, start putting together more bundles! Stay super cool.
